I still play the game even after more than 10 years on and off but I think the part i enjoy the most is competing for top damage, healing, pulling big, and just seeing numbers and in general but I love raiding the most. World of warcraft is my favorite game ever since i started playing back in cataclysm. I guess I'll see you in the war within.
War Within is about to claim this guys soul.
It is so damn hard for me to recommend this game to almost anyone. The game is based purely on the treadmill now, the leveling before the endgame exists to be completed as fast, efficiently and easily as possible with no soul, wonder, exploration or difficulty whatsoever.
Those two things in tandem, break this game so hard…
Longtime player since 2007 I take long breaks that's what keeps me interested in the game, And ever since classic came out I've played classic era more than I've played retail.
I have played a little bit of dragonflight I have 2 max level characters but that doesn't take long so that's not really saying much, I'm really looking forward to the next expansion my favorite thing to do in World of Warcraft is hardcore and season of discovery… retails OK
U had me going alright i can understand your opinion, till you got to spells. The specs you played in this video is some of the specs with most button bloat the hunter you showcased u literaly threw passive spells that you will never press and other buttons on there to fill it out, you even put some things twice thats just disingenuous, most classes/specs have around 7-8 spells they use and then maybe some cooldowns on the side.
Dungeon leveling is not the fastest and if you thought it was to hard to understand what your spells did while doing them. Then take a few minutes between the dungeons and read what the spell does or you know just dont spam dungeons?
besides that decent video though those 2 things really just felt like nit picky.
Retail is such a clusterfuck, I can't return to it.
nah i feel ya when you do get burned out, it can happen. yeah the game SHOULDN'T NEED add ons to make the game more "enjoyable" the game has been out for years and it still needs to do better on it's UI and the like. I don't get why they just don't hire the damn people that do that sort of stuff from the add on communty… Just fawkin hire them and improve the UI already geezus. Yes there should be less buttons to press and it's kinda why i just stick with a bit more simple classes. Button bloat does suck but majority of mine are mounts/toys, buff pots, health pots, trinkets, macro stuff and Cool downs for the specific class ya playing that buffs it up more.
Im playing WoW for 16 years now. I had some breaks but all ways leaded back to Azeroth. I never played retail .. I consider myself as a boomer and its rly hard for me to get used to new things. I burned out about WoW after some high lvl deaths in HC mode and than SoD appears. I havent earned so much fun in game in years .. its absolutely amazing. Btw. we had similar parents about the christian things so i got u 😀
To any player ever, I'd suggest to install an RP addon (mostly Total Roleplay 3) and to explore the RP scene in WoW, from the more dedicated to the less-so dedicated. Would strongly suggest avoiding the r34 side of RP.
tbh getting new gear has always been the norm in WoW, it can seem like a slog, but when you get that juicy new gear, you feel empowered, your numbers start spiking and it gives you a dopemine rush. triggers those feel good centers in your brain like getting some sloppy toppy. lol and gear used to last a lot shorter amount of time before seasons were a thing, instead gear would be classified as old as soon as the new Raid Patch was ready for release, i think a lot of players are blind to that fact.
Great video thank you
Hey there is an Renoun XP bonus in Pluderstrom until May 1st when it stops ! It's going quite fast actually !
I'm always taking long breaks, I'll play for a few months and get really into chasing my IO score with M+, burn out then quit for a few months, when I''m playing it will easily take up 5/6 hours 7 days a week, some times I just stop M+ and do side quests and faction reps, Recently I've not played since getting KSM and will go back for MoP remix just because I want to see whats happening outside my room XP
Level up in legion instead of dungeon spamming great alternative with great rewards and gets you started on your way to your Artifact appearances. No addon is needed to enjoy the game DBM makes life easier and DPS meter to see your numbers in comparison to others are really the only things i use.
The funny part is, how he linked BM skill tree but you just keep 2 buffs up and don't overcap. Sub rogue mains will feel this
People always keep coming back and I mean after 20 years its still the biggest mmo which is kinda crazy and a pretty popular game overall.
addons are fine i love addons, just gotta learn it once and then its easy.
Pretty interesting video. I feel like I'm the opposite, I like mythic+ over raiding because I feel like I have more control over my success. I hate I do the mechanics correctly but my raid vipes for hours people keep dieing to swirlies. In mythic+ failure is at least not hours but minutes.
I am Level.60. Do I need an expansion to a dragonfly?
You love playing plunderstorm, a gamemode that has NOTHING to do with WoW…
finally someone who does these 'new player tries wow' videos right. in most videos the guys talk 95% about the levelling experience and it always ends in "i dont know what to do once max level so i uninstalled".
I'd say I've played since Cataclysm, but I've never been so in tune with the game till now. Ive never gotten to current content because i kept trying out different races and classes and running around with them, and only when the talent trees came in did I finally understand how to play my main class. I still have never raided current but I've been working up the nerve to try the raid finder at least.
Never listen to Twitch Chat, who in their right mind recommended Z-Perl(?) to someone who apparently is not a fan of dealing with addons? I was half expecting to see Skada next. The out-of-date pop-up is the only checkbox in your addon panel.
This has gotten a bit longer, but I wanted to break a lance for addons and maybe some other newer player may stumble upon it, who this could help a bit and prepare them for the player base when it comes to addons^^
Somewhat disagree on the addon point. I do understand where you are coming from, but I think your experience is mostly due to a lack of good guidance. I'd go so far as to argue that it's a USP and the strongest tool WoW has to enable every player to customize their experience to fit them best. But it is an entire ecosystem that has to be learned or taught, just like anything else in the game, if someone wants to properly utilize it. I feel like a lot of players have it too ingrained in their head, that you NEED addons over addons. No, you don't, at least not as much as people like to convey. I love addons, my full setup has ~50 enabled, and I think it's one of the things that make wow the greatest MMO there is and everyone should get into the ecosystem, but realistically, it's not needed. I have killed later mythic bosses without any addons and even without any UI at all, it's just a really nice helper to teach you the fight and git good. Some people never git good and just want to defeat the boss and that's fine, just remember that it is (for most of the player base) a crutch.
You mention that you should have a mentor when starting your WoW journey, a lot of people that do mentor others sadly lack knowledge of the addon ecosystem and how to properly utilize it (as does most of the player base¹). It's just years over years of the telephone game and people confidently stating outright wrong or outdated information. A lot of stuff is still in use because it's been around for forever, even though there are better/less intrusive/more modern approaches, especially if you want a plug-and-play experience that fits the modern game (some stuff is still atrociously outdated design wise or needlessly complicated and doesn't have good standalone replacements, e.g. raid/group frames outside the ones that come bundled with ElvUI).
For brevity's sake (ha), I'm not gonna dive into each of the 3 main end-game pillars (raid, m+, pvp), but all you realistically "need" is 3/4 addons². A nameplate addon (default nameplates have not kept up), DMB or BigWigs, WeakAuras2, and for raid specifically "Method Raid Tools", but just for its note feature in an organized environment. Then, once you are actually invested in doing that content and have familiarized yourself with it, add a WeakAuras pack from a coloured name on wago for the respective content you are doing. Telegraphing has become generally good enough that you don't need them in the beginning, and they would probably teach you bad habits. Instead, you should learn the telegraphs and not turn off audio (as so many long-term players have). Contrary to what a lot of old school negative Nancy's will tell you, they have been improved with every patch for the last 4 years. Other neat WAs will be picked up by proxy once you get into the content and meet people.
As for alerts from either WeakAuras or DMB/BigWigs, most high-high-end players will tell you to disable most warnings and only enable them once you think they would be helpful, otherwise you will just learn to ignore them and not look/listen to any warnings. Yes, it's a bit annoying to do that every patch, but having all the rings and bells is sadly the default for a lot of players. I don't know DBM, but BigWigs makes disabling everything really easy (though a bit repetitive) and granular with settings on a per-spell basis. Just make sure to not disable the entire spell, just the settings inside the spell.
Outside the 3 endgame pillars, addons can enhance your experience so much in ways the devs would never be able to do, because you can tailor everything to your needs and preferences. Just looking at UI overhauls, there's a ton of options, some trending from very clean and minimal, others to extra verbose; there are Addons that change the way you interact with parts of the game or change only very specific elements. Then there is the vast variety of addons that just change minor things of the default UI, that Blizzard most definitely should not push onto every player, because it comes with downsides:
– Wanna be able to move windows and not have everything close when opening larger (e.g. talents) or more than 3 windows? DeModal.
– Wanna use buttons to interact with various dialogs? DialogKey DF.
– Wanna mass sell items around specific conditions? Vendor.
– Wanna hear ping sounds even with sfx disabled? Ping Sounds.
– Wanna calculate crafting results for which you would use an external website in other games? CraftSim.
Going further on addons like CraftSim, how often do you have to use external sites in other MMOs to do something? Addons allow that to happen directly in the game, be it ALL THE THINGS, HandyNotes + plugins, Mythic Dungeon Tools, Rarity (spreadsheet heaven if done outside the game), RCLootCouncil, TomCat's Tours, TradeSkillMaster, GatherMate2 + Routes, Details!'s /keys command, (SceneMachine), and a lot more that I don't use because I'm not particularly interested in these parts of the game. All of these have and need their own separate website equivalents in most other MMOs. That's not to say that WoW doesn't have external websites with community tools too, but it's nice to have most of them in game.
¹ I'm still fighting people that have been playing since the dawn of time to swap from CurseForge to WoWUpCF when they complain updating addons is too tedious. I can update all addons between clicking "Play" and the character selection popping up. May take a bit longer with arthritis riddled bones.
² Probably actually 5/6, BugGrabber and BugSack so you don't get spammed with lua errors when stuff breaks. It batches Errors and helps you actually find what is breaking. And please, for the love of god, don't use “/console scriptErrors 0”, if you have, type it with a 1 and do a /reload.the strongest tool has to enable every player to customize their experience to fit them best.
Good job! And thanks for getting me addicted to Fortnite! 🙂
