Warcraft chronicles volume 4 came out today. It covers Mists of Pandaria to the end of Shadowlands giving quite a nice summary of the story so far accompanied by some sick art. Does have some flaws, but ey who doesn’t!
I hope you’ll enjoy ^_^

  1. Look forward to the big video, these books are always some of my fav types to read, I do like though they wanna clearly make the Jailer be a schizo in the end so they dont ever wanna bring it up again really lol, they def dont wanna bother much with it cause its prob not gonna be relevant much I feel to whatever Metzen and them wanna steer the story into

  4. cool stories but like with most chronicle books I'm not a fan of the retcons, PARTICULARLY of MoP and BFA. Also, the jailer explanation of what he was afraid of his just… LMAOO

BLIZZARD THE ONE STORY WE WOULDNT MIND YOU RETCONNING AND YOU LET US DOWN

  5. It’s really easy to say “oh they should just rewrite it so X event (shadowlands) never happened” but at the same time, I do think it could be interesting if the characters themselves realized that certain events in that expansion didn’t line up, and suddenly there is a 5 year gap of time that no one knows what happened during.

  6. Name a better duo than WoW and retconing their stories. Seriously I love Nobbel but the wow lore has been a joke for a while, it has no direction or purpose beyond random shit they come up with to sell books or salvage expansions.

  7. This Vol is actually a joke and such a spit in the face to lore fans, even more so than retconning these things into "titan's point of view" . all we wanted was a lore bible and they couldn't even produce that competently due to their disdain for the old fans and lore of the universe.

  8. It really seems like they're going for a meta narrative. "What makes a soul" seems to be the foundation for the story be it Azeroths world soul or the soul of a single lowly NPC. all mortal decisions are driven by emotions and as we move toward a grandiose narrative of fate and light/void on a cosmic scale, the idea seems to be light/void exist on a micro scale too….in the soul.

The reason Zovaal saw a generic irrational doom, is because he saw/felt the concept of negativity as he experienced the fates of mortals. And it is negativity that threatens us all be it on a grand cosmic scale of doom or tragedy in our personal lives on the individual scale.

The idea being positive n negative forces make up the universe (same reason SL chronicle had all the forces either highlighted or shaded) and the cold logical robots (titans/Zovaal) are worried negativity will consume us all

And the void is the big bad guiding everything. Literal negativity, insidious darkness fueling chaos death and destruction, corrupting life and every soul that feels doubt/pain/sadness/wrath. Literally corrupting Azeroths very soul from within and through her nightmares. Fitting. All war, all chaos, all death leads to oblivion. Void is what exists beyond death and SL was just setting the stage while the burning crusade was just the pawn on the board while they watched from beyond the stars

  9. So why did Jaina go to Kul'Tiras according to this book? I hope it was explained in the book, because it doesn't make sense if the Zandalari weren't a threat at that point.

  10. I really liked the first two, until they almost immediately started contradicting them in-game… which kind of defeated the whole point of having them. In my own Warcraft-derived tabletop RP, I've been sticking closer to the Chronicle (1 and 2) than they ever did. And then the later Chronicles have been just… eh. From what I heard of this one it's just absolutely riddled with continuity issues. I will never believe the whole Alliance storyline took place before the Horde one, it makes zero sense. Thankfully, I no longer play actual WoW so I don't have to deal with WoW RPers about that.

  11. Its so funny seeing sveryone in fhe comments getting pissy over them retconning stuff. WoW has always retconned stuff, ever since the beginning of the game. Christ Metzen himself said that retcons can be good and necessary to fix and grow a franchise, and he himself has retconned plenty of Warcraft lore ever since the Burning Crusade.

But nah, something something Danuser is bad and stinky aaaah
