For 4 months in 2005 World of Warcraft became a hunting ground. At this time, Angwe parked his character at Menethil Harbour and he killed everyone that tried to get on a boat! If you were playing World of Warcraft at this time and headed to Menethil Harbour, then it was very likely that you would have met a gruesome end at hands of Angwe!

Killing upwards of 10 people a day, Angwe claims to have killed over 10,000 people in the game and for this episode of Tales From The Hard Drive we tracked him down!

  1. Funny thing is if you play on a PVP server this is allowed, i did play on pvp servers from Vanilla to the end of Cata and i will never regret it , you gankt got gankt massive Alliance vs Hord stuff, fun times, but again i was 16 when vanilla came and when u got older (for me) and around the end of Cata i just wanted to log in play and not be gankt for doing some pve stuff.

So i moved to a PVE server and was the best move for me to enjoy the game more up to BFA when Warmode came and it got fun again whit World PVP, best thing Blizz did when u can put on PVP if you want it ore turn it off when u want it, i even got guild m8ts to come and do pvp that hade NEVER and i mean NEVER done PVP and enjoy it, because they could Always just turn it of when they wanted.

  2. in EQ1, i used to charm specters in the Oasis. Id run to the docks with my little gnome necromancer, Feign death and watch the pet charm snap. That thing would kill almost everyone on the platform before someone finally got it. Too bad they nerfed that haha.

Wow isnt the same anymore angwe, you can still gank but its hard to find a way to pin people down like ya did. Too many portals now 😛 Also remember the story about that funeral that was ganked on a PVP server? …yea. its pvp, yall know the rules.

  3. Want to know why he was a legend? Not because of how many (low level) players he killed but because of how he was the only loser spending his time doing it. Literally anyone could have played a rogue and do the same as he did, there was absolutely nothing special about him, apart from being the only psychopath to waste time killing players who had no chance to fight back. Menethil wasnt what you would call an active place. He said it himself, he would kill 10 people on a good day. So for most of the day he was just standing there doing nothing.

  5. This dude is the reason we have to organised guard duties on zappelin tower at undercity. Cause alliance retaliation was organising a rotation assassins on the zeppelin.

  6. For the record, real Angwe is the sweetest, most kind-hearted man I think I ever met. Insanely nice and thoughtful guy. The separation of concerns (personality-wise) is spot on, thanks PC Gamer for doing this subject justice.

  7. Angwe was very kind to me. I had babelfish addon back then. Hope he's doing well right now! Dethecus was such an amazing community. I remember many different guilds and people there from Saga, to Months Behind, to The Mile High Club, Jagerbombers I believe was the name of one I was in as well. The leader of that guild (Redtiara) is still one of my best friends. Playing against characters like Angwe made the world feel alive and made you WANT to be involved in the community and drama. It was worth the sub just to be apart of Dethecus community and forums. Tons of memories and fun.

Played Lathirias, Druid during Vanilla as a young teen.

  8. Haha I remember this guy. He did kill me a few times, but it was pretty easy to avoid. I had a lot of alts, on that and other servers, and there was always stuff to do, so I never understood why people were dedicated to suffering by getting killed over and over.

Just do other stuff, or take a break, whatever. And he makes the point: it's a PvP server. If you don't want to PvP, then go play on a PvE server.

Anyway, great seeing the man, the myth, the legend.

  9. Hes one of the reasons I tried to gear up as fast as I could by the Time I felt I was ready for him he was gone or quit I assume but he killed me at least 5 times as a level 20 through 50 or so. There were lots of Rogues cheesing their way to infamy as rogues on Dethecus Rogues were just ridiculously over powered but he and people loke him made the game fun
