Asmongold reacts to the final Cutscene of Shadowlands Patch 9.1 Campaign, Chains of Domination wraps up with a goodbye from one of the most important characters of the Warcraft universe. Not a Cinematic level finale like with Saurfang but still a good cutscene featuring Sylvanas, Anduin, Thrall, Jaina and more…

  1. The writers are milking this damn plotline and trying to sprinkle in hints to keep us coming back. The way Shadowlands is written is as if the main story of Daredevil season 1 was stretched thin across about 5 seasons of a show. Dropping in little appetizers to get you to buy another month of Netflix.
It wouldn't hurt to give us a letter or book or comic or some shit that tells us whats really going on. Dialogue dump on us! I would love a 10 minute conversation between Anduin and Sylvanas. All written out on the website. It benefits both characters and the plot as a whole.

  2. I've finally decided that these in game cut scenes with props are super fucking lazy and low effort compared to animated ones. Somehow they have lost all integrity over the expansion.

  3. The 180 the chat has taken is mind boggling
Just a couple months ago, whenever ffxiv was mentioned it was 'CRINGE GAME OMEGALUL WEEBS WTF', now it is exactly that but for wow

  4. Ofc they erased Anduin…because a white hetero male has no place in a woke story about a mary sue. 😂
I….i think thats one of 100 reasons.
But in all seriousness, i wanna puke about the fact how bad the wow story is…i'm glad i left this game 6 years ago.

  5. How to fix the game:
Step 1. Delete Shadowlans. Delete BFA.
Step 2: The end of Legion, sword stabs the ground and causes mass destruction across the planet. Only those who went off-world to fight will remember this event. (and any survivors)
Step 3: World of Warcraft 2. We start again, 2000 years later… just some good ol' adventuring lads trying to do some good and get paid.

  6. the writers are the literally dogshit ruining the game and they need to be the first to be reallocated to a different department if not fired outright. its disgusting what you are doing and have done to the WoW lore when it was prior to WoD and the buyout, so fucking amazing and well thought out. it is now no more thought out then a garbage cod cinematic for mw.

  7. In TBC when the Black Temple came out. I was like awesome I get to fight the nightelf ninja dude. I had no idea any of the backstory. Most of what I knew of Illidan was from the Warcraft 3 cutscenes. Story fell off hard once that happened to me. I have tried reading the books. Never finished the ones I bought.

  8. there is no concrete development to these characters in shadowlands. having 5 minute cinematics would improve the game ten fold. we literally wait months for a 1min to 45 seconds of information but again nothing to express what the hell is going on with the game.

  9. I thought bringing Illidan back in Legion was desperate, but turning Anduin into Arthas, and a redemption arc for Sylvannas? Are there any writers at that company with original ideas? What’s next? They gonna bring back Alexstrazsa and make her boobs bigger?

  10. Now you’re playing FF, I don’t know how a wow cinematic can ever be satisfying again. Not saying wow should go the full story route that FF14 does but I don’t see how a quick cutscene covers the biggest moments of the game. Especially when it’s just a conversation. They could have put 4 of these together and made a far more epic scene.

  11. How is this a finale cinematic? This is closer to an epilogue. Also like Asmon said, this should all be told prior to the RAID coming out. It's weird watching such a disjointed story.

  12. Asmon is wrong about this cinematic, this is literally them repeating themselves. Anduin: dae just like arthas? Sylvanas: sadface. No new info aside from the nature of the control over anduin, which is somewhat irrelevant overall unless they are going to pull the “overpower the mind control” trope.

  13. People really that naive not to realise hes longtime wow addict and only switched to FF14 to gain views from Asia. He's taking anti depressants and gets sad because the only thing he devoted his life to is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

  14. WoW wants to tell a big story, with a lot of characters playing an active role, but they are not willing to commit to that story nor invest the time to develop the characters INGAME.
I stoped playing WoW around the end of WotLK but I've been following the lore all this time, and the development of characters is always in some sort of outside media appart from the game, yet all the big events that advance the plot are in the game, but if you only read the game part of the lore shit stop making sense and characters act "out of character" without reason because they skipped their development arc.
In WoW the STORY is made FOR THE GAME, it always has been, but trends change and people started to crave for the lore, they noticed the oportunity and now they are hell bent on milking players money by any means, so the story started to get bigger not with the aim of escalating the main plot into its big climax from a narrative point of view, but to keep feeding that craving for lore, everything got bigger, enemies got "badder" and powers are at cosmic escales and thats a problem, "cosmic" powers are pretty much as big as it gets, the story has to end, things must conclude, but this is blizzard; players must be milked so even if the story starts to lose meaning it cannot end…
Then we have FFXIV, the game is made for the story, everything is contained within the game, and it has a clear finish line, the story will end the next expansion, it will not be the end of the game but it is the end of the main base plot it has been telling since launch; the conflic of Hydaelyn vs Zodiark, light vs darkness, the insight we have gained in the expansions may have changed the point of view, but the finish line is still the same.

  15. the biggest issue is blizzard is trying to show a story but then being like OH NO BUT YOU GOTTA READ THE BOOKS books nobody knows about unless they heard about the books years back and then expecting people to fully know and understand the story its blatent laziness and greed on blizzards part also why do I feel jaina is now going to be the leader of the alliance and its going to go back to horde vs alliance

  16. He could have dropped the Compass when he got the first sigil in Bastion or when he took it from Ardenweld…..then you could see the cinematic before the raid released.

  17. This is why the older, simpler stories were FAR more effective, they're trying to cram Game of Thrones into a single graphic novel and wondering why people are confused and disinterested. This is aside from the fact that Shadowlands, even with the "full story" is still far less engaging and relatable to the Warcraft players but that's a writing-quality issue.

  18. Okay so if/when there is gonna be a redemption/justification arc for Sylvanas, have her help to defeat the Jailer, but have Anduin kill her after all is said and done after all the shit shes done and put people through.

  19. Wait, that never happened to Sylvanas. We learn that her soul was split into different parts, it was only ever the one time she lost all of that part of herself. So is Anduins soul literally being torn out of him bit by bit? But if that's a function of domination magic does that mean the Jailer himself has also had his soul torn into multiple bits because he's under domination magic? Wait, if the jailer was and arguably still is under the effects of domination magic, why doesn't whoever did that to him just force him to stop? Who actually knew domination magic and was skilled enough in it to dominate the jailer, and does that mean someone out there has the rest of Zoval's soul? If domination magic robs people of the good part of their soul then why did the Primus believe that time under the effect would make the jailer more humble and empathetic? If Anduin is only being controlled some of the time then why isn't he invoking the light which has been shown to both be able to penetrate the maw AND rescue souls?

I mean obviously this is just to set up Anduin vouching for Sylvanas after he gets freed so she'll be spared because he's the only one who knows 'what it was like' and so he can be an edgy shadow priest in time for the light themed expansion and that's literally the only reason this half baked corruption plotline is being brought out again, but couldn't they at least put some effort into explaining literally anything about what is going on here?

  20. This is the problem with the current way shadowlands timegates it's content. This cinematic should take place before we enter the raid, people already don't like how things are retconned/how the redemption of sylvannas is forced. Now you do both by retconning sylvannna's redemptionarc. The renown gating is fucking stupid and should die on the same hill WoW will die on if the current state of affairs is made the standard.
