Both can be true, forcing and choosing:
Sylvanas FORCED the choice upon him, by presenting it!
Anduin could have chosen to go along with it.
So force and choice CAN be present both.
Sylvanas forced him yes! She kept him inprisoned and would not let him say no. So, yes! She forced him
hi Accolonn, you know the previous 9.1 Campaign chapter, where we saved Uther's Soul Shard from that Jailor Soul Shard room. There have been many shards and some of them had specific names. I dont remember all of them but some were like "unknown soul" others had "powerful Magician" or something like that written on them. Could you check those shards and talk about whose souls might be trapped inside of them. Maybe there is some souls we know from Azeroth.
Lame Anduin slipping away and badass Anduin becoming permanent, where’s the downside?
The lore in this xpac is TRASH! Nothing makes sense, no logic, no reason, things just happen. Who is leading this crap!?
This is the worst cinematic I have seen from Blizzard. It's all going to hell…
I personally think she did force him, and her saying “the sacrifices we’ve made” is her way of subconsciously justifying dominating anduin. Even if she forced him into this, she still views it as a sacrifice…simply, a non-consensual sacrifice, but a sacrifice nonetheless. By making that small semantic adjustment in her head, she eases some of the guilt she carries for dominating him.
"Yes, Young Lion.."
Not, "Little Lion?" She deem him to have grown a bit?
I think the conversation between sylvanas and anduin took place before the invasion of oribos, then this scene take place after sylvanas defeat, Jaina take the compass anduin dropped.
Anduin might have lost himself as he said but sylvanas found herself.
He is given some autonomy, and im guessing Anduin has already been torn unless the Golden King doesn't actually refer to Anduin 0_0
Honestly don't think its confusing. "The sacrifices we've made" does not necessarily mean that he had any choice in the matter. We had a saying in the military called "voluntold" which this reminds me of that. I don't think that he ever agreed to any of this.
Is he asking his friends to keep who he was alive? The difference being, he is a priest not a paladin. Through that and the light can he be saved? Just the 1st thing that came to my mind, he is relaying something here???
In the patch 9.1 intro cinematic with the attack on the archon, Anduin was all full of talking even if it was the jailer speaking through him. Why did he suddenly become a mindless zombie for the other instances after that? And why is this the first time we see him not under control? Are Anduin and Sylvanas chilling and having tea in between plot moments? I'm confused on what's going on. Can we just wake up and be back on azeroth fighting the legion as if none of the last few years has happened, please?
this really should have been released before the cinematic at the end of the raid, now it feels like its out of order
I feel like this cutscene adds very little but raises so many more questions and issues. I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately was confused about the Domination magic, its effects, and Anduin appearing to have his mental faculties. If he was in control of his mind and knew he was going to lose himself and/or do bad things against his will, why not kill or incapacitate himself to avoid being a tool? Heck, even Sylvannas tried this initially, I don't get why Anduin wouldn't try it. My huge assumption is that there's a low-level effect of Domination magic that prevents Anduin from doing it, explaining the eyes and why he's still complying willing to do things he doesn't want to do. Regardless, so many other conflicting issues at hand.
anyone else starting looking around in discord when they herd the noise ?
Wow well this one was just meh. At least the Garrosh cinematic touched my feels. Thou it wasn't as big a disappointment as what happened with Sylvanas. Seriously its like they want to do their level best to disconnect the players from the story they are trying tell in the game. I just dont know what the hell to think any more. They are actually ruining the lore for me now.
This isn't confusing at all it just takes a longer time for you to process basic information like usually. Sylvanas obviously feels guilty, hence why she says "we" instead of "I".
We kinda all just assumed that Sylvanas forced Anduin to join her. She had been trying to persuade him for so long, but now time was running low (the cinematic "Sylvana's Choice"). The next thing we see is Anduin stabbing the Archon and how he is Dominated by the Jailor. At no point did any of them say or confirm wether Sylvanas turned Anduin, or if he eventually joined her willingly.
Based on this cinematic, I'm assuming that she convinced him, not forced him, to join her and her plan. She made him into what he is now, but he decided to join her willingly. Their sacrifices (hers, as well as Anduins if he did indeed join her of his own free will) might still be worth it.
Since the quest is now fixed Uther has an interesting chat regarding the soul shard after you view this cutscene. He states that "When Arthas struckme down Frostmourne shattered my soul. But it was not divided into one part that was noble and another that was cruel. Rather, it was as if a portion of my consciousness remained frozen in time while the rest of my soul carried on. To feel the missing fragement restored well it has caused me to reflect on amny of the choices I have made." It's possible that scene we saw with Sylvanas being restored was her responding to her final moments alive.
The more they reveal the more this is getting interesting to be honest. =)
