Simple Healer UI and Macros | Resto Shaman and other Healers! | World of Warcraft Shadowlands

Healers in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands have very particular UI requirements. In the video I talk about setting up the basic User Interface for all healers: resto shaman, mistweaver monk, holy paladin, holy priest, disc priest and resto druid. There is a weakaura section available for Resto Shamans specifically as well! Finally, you can also get the exact copy of my (still WIP) UI!

All my UI profiles (Elvui, Plater, Weakauras), macro codes etc. are linked on our community Discord server in the channel #resto-elvui-addons-weakauras!

  1. There is a lot of good information in this video, especially recommend if someone is new to the game game and just learning. I think discussing keybinds more in depth may have been something that would have been a good addition as well as you talked about setting up the action bars and macros but not how you keybind so many abilities which someone who is new or is playing shaman may for sure be having a problem with.

  2. Thought this was a pretty poor guide, talked a lot about addons but ultimately going nowhere, ie not showing how or where they are useful. Also the Details should always be set to "Healing done" or "Damage done", never set it to HPS or you will be laughed at. Reminds me of the kids in TBC and Wrath who set their damage/healing meter to dps/hps but where bottom in healing and damage done because recount in those days only tracked uptime and not continuously from the pull. Anyway.

Raid frames in the middle of the screen blocking half your vision? There's a reason everyone puts it under their character nowadays. Also not one mention of ERT/MRT? As for addons I would definitely shout out Clique, you just mouse over the spell in your spell book and press the button you want to bind it too, bam your macro's are done, very quick very intuitive. Then you only need an @mouse for healing rain/earth totem. And then Grid/Vuhdo (while I hated Vuhdo when I was first trying to get used to mouseovers because of its setup a LOT of people like it so up to you!).

  3. I actually use Healium for my raid frames which helps me pinpoint who needs the heal and which one to use. I am 77 years old so my reaction time for using mouseover macros is extremely limited and not as good as it was 10 years ago when I did not have arthritis in my hands. I would have liked to have seen key bindings and macros in more detail. Considering Bliz limits how many macros you can actually have based upon the macro creator in game, sometimes I find I have to use something more complex due to lack of macro button available.

  4. Finally got back to finish watching your video and had to laugh at your descriptions of the various addons you are using. Particularly your WA wanting to make you hang yourself. LOL The more complicated the less likely I'll use it. So I'll probably only use what I need to highlight what's off CD in order to know when to reapply. But I am not the main raid healer because I focus the off-tank while throwing down totems and AoE heals whenever I can. I leave the heavy lifting to our Druid healer and Priest healer to handle the main needs.

My raid group knows I do not do main tank healing in raids. I don't have the reflexes any longer, but bless them for keeping me involved on AoE healing with off-tank focus. But I have to say our guild name is apropos, its the Old Timers Guild. Our eldest member is Trusty at 91 years young. So we are a bunch of old folks having a ball playing games that were not even a thought when we were kids.

I do however, work with a static M+ group to learn the dungeons. Those are easier for me to deal with….bottom line I sit in the tank's pocket (lol). Makes my healing easier that way and I can concentrate on the best healing necessary for any given setup. I'd love to learn to do better, but considering my physical limitations, everyone is extremely helpful in using personal cds and such. Recently we did Halls of Atonement and then Sanguine Depths, where I only lost 2 of the dpsers near the end but had the druid still helping me with the final boss on that tiny balcony. We are just starting out and two of the dps players just came back to the game and just barely made the ilvl requirement…but man, they did really well. We laughed through the entire dungeon and I was amazed at how much I remember from doing these when I was running on my warlock.

I am rambling now. Anyhow, I shall keep a lookout for your 9.2 updates. I would like to see a little more detail on how you arrange your cycling through as you go through encounters (be it raid or dungeon). You gave me thought about some talents that I might give a try, but I mostly use the same ones you mentioned.
