Farming and collecting various things in an MMO has to be the purest form of content. I’ve been unsubbed from WoW for a bit over a whole year now, but if I suddenly was forced to play I’d probably log in and do another Icecrown run to see if I get Invincible, to only then question my life after not receiving it for the millionth time… And of course be back to try next week. A potentially endless spiral into insanity 🙂
That being said, I’m not even that big of a collector or completionist, I just kind of go for the stuff I want. And the best experience I’ve probably had with that is getting Ashes of Al’ar on my second or so Kael kill, which is also my favourite mount. Kind of recall how some people at the time were ranting to me how they haven’t gotten it in hundreds and hundreds of tries and just fount it funny.

  1. Dang, I don't even do pet battles, my pet tab is full of lost and attention starved creatures, always hoping when I start a new character they will get a slot on her bar and thus occasionally see the sun. Poor idiots. Luckily for a rare few my BF just started playing the game and like 20 of them got to join a real pet battler

  5. I've been farming tmogs on my warrior for several years, but the main mog I go back to was made a couple months in and has remained mostly the same since. The Axe of the Weeping Wolf from WoD is just the perfect axe for a warrior and I got it very early. There aren't many 2Hs which feel as classic as that except for the reforged Gorehowl which I can't get cos I'm a filthy casual. Oh and the Dread Gladiator's Decapitator which I won't be able to use until Warbands become a thing because I'm not Horde.

When I think about it though, my core mog HAS changed over time. It started out very basic using mostly WoD dungeon gear, but then expanded as I got more of the cool frosty-themed raid gear from Wrath. I have another classic red-themed warrior mog which uses the axe skin for Strom'kar, the Warbreaker. People think I'm horde when I wear that mog. I currently use the Big Bad Pauldrons with that one—again, stone-cold classic—but I think horde have access to an updated model of those as well as other spikey shoulders which are perfect for warriors. Once Warbands become a thing I'll be able to get those horde-exclusive pieces with an orc warrior then use them on my main (hopefully).

But yeah there are heaps of pieces that I've tried for weeks to get, only to not use them much at all once I got them, such as the red version of Ka'graz's Burning Blade from Blackrock Foundry which wouldn't drop for me. Another one is Hellrender from Hellfire Citadel which looks phenomenal but I almost never make a transmog that works with it. Part of it though is that these weapons feel SPECIAL so I don't want to just start using them in every mog. I want to save them for the right ones ^_^

By the way, Warbands will EXPLODE transmogging like holy fuck there are so many mail and leather appearances I've wanted to use on my warrior. Also I just realised that being able to farm warrior tmogs with other classes will unlock HEAPS of content that I usually don't bother with. For instance Hunters have way more tools to avoid boss resets.
