  1. I dont know if you figured it out, ace, but the started account is the free 20 levels on the current version of the game. the Classic versions of the game require a subscription. ( I skipped to an hour in I don't know if something else was messing up for you).

  2. Playing Classic WoW isn't a hood place to start playing. He's interested in the stories. Play retail and you can play through the story of your choosing. Classic WoW doesn't have a story to tell, just lore of places that changed.

  3. Classic to me is fun because the stories are more grounded. Modern wow has its moments and i am not going to lie that i do like the quality of life improvements that the nevest version of the game has but Classic just feels fun because i am just adventurer a pleb in a huge world not a God Emperor of Azeroth the destroyer of Gods and Titans. Also i was never a fan of modern spell effects that make the screen look like a total mess of graphical puke effects to me were far better and cooler when it was less is more.

  4. long time old-school wow/private server player here. you’ll enjoy retail more. 100%. no question. the only content you cannot access in retail wow is the original versions of the original continents. the versions before deathwing (dragon covered with metal plates) blew everything up. i really enjoy the grounded-ness of the old storytelling and not being the main character but thats just a personal preference. theres not as much story to chew on and you can just play classic era to get the old story anyways.

  5. I realize its probably a little bit jarring how the community disagrees so hard on some things but thats just because people are so different in general. It isn't such a thunderdome when you get in there, I promise–been playing since 09 and I know from experience 🙂 Really glad to hear you say you're gonna do retail and put it on youtube–excited to see it! You got this and hope you have a great time 😀

  6. People who say Classic has no story just refused to read throufh the quest logs. The difference is that classic is more about the worlds and the multiple little stories that are happening around it. There is no overarching story, at least not in the final fantasy way. Retail's story is just more linear. The difference overall is that in classic the game starts at level 1 but in retail the game starts at max level.

  7. Shame I can't watch the stream itself…because it sarts at 1am my time😂
As I said before, don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone enjoy games in different way and I thing that is just great thing on interactive media. I for example Love lore in games and it detract from my enjoyment when players play first time and skip conversations and then thirty hours in game ask who is that guy that I've seen ten times and don't even recognize.
But if that is the way you like it, more power to you.
Wow fans are really passionate and that means you can't please everyone.
The complete history video does lot of joking and skimming over parts that are considered general knowledge, so I don't really reccomand it to new people

  8. Only his wife gets to call him goell, rest have always known his as thrall, is why.
Also wrathion is not actually son of deathwing, he is grandson of deathwin, but hes a massive narcasisit, and egomaniac so he calls hismelf the son.
The burdens of shao hao is just a story of emotions and the story of the emperor, so yeah pretty understandable to not be as connected, gotta think of it as it's own story, as its not DIRECT wow story, more a story of emotions, of a single charecter, just a good story of emotions, less so an actual story of WoW

Also bit more context, maraad was the draenei you saw in the burning crusade cinematic. Also he had a wife named Yrel, she passed away sadly during the attacks, and well lets say she is very much alive in this reality, where maraad passed before meeting her so uh yeah keep that in mind.

  9. I just realized a big difference about wow that final fantasy doesn't really do. The whole overworld is kind of like 4 big maps. Technically i think it's possible to fly from one continent to the next, but close to impossible. But each major continent in the game is usually a single map you can traverse. That was one thing about FFxiv that i noticed when i switched to that for a while. It honestly feels smaller in comparison to wow, more level based. Which never bothered me. But it will be interesting to see you exploring the world. Any word yet on what server/faction you will be playing? I'd love to make a new character there and maybe cross paths.

  10. Like your reactions to the franchise that raised me. I grew up with warcraft 3, then got into wow. Good to see you enjoying.
Can really recommend you play warcraft 3 (the non reforged version if you want the uncorrupted version G2A likely has keys to sell)

  11. 1 video u have to se is the (wow blood plague incident) Its not a cinematic but its 1 of the funniest accidental events ever to take place inside wow. It was a mistake in the coding for a new raid and u may think thats not gonna be that bad and wont effect anything outside the raid and u be very wrong. It devistated the in-game playerbase to the point that the capital citys were abandoned and even real world disease researchers started to look into the situation.
1:54:10 U are not alone in that as many ppl really dident like the Pandaria expansion becouse almost the entire main plot in that land was VERY heavily designed around the style of eastern philosophy and that style only tends to give u hints what they really mean and have u guess what its all about. The cutscenes dont mention this but the land of Pandaria has a very dangerous entity/spirit buried in the land and it can feed on negative emotions to the point that a phantom of this entity manifest and they call that a Sha. Sha of fear, despair, anger i think u get the point. The Pandaren ppl live in perfect harmony with the land so to not awaken this entity by not giving it anything to feed off. The story of the Emperor shows what can happen if that harmony is broken and how dangerous it can be and how he learns from the land how to combat this entity when it does appear.

  12. animated stills are basicly bitesize contnet that started with Mists of Pandaria and it was aimed to be something to ease people right before the expannsion dropped. They are nicely made and interesting if you like lore, but they are absolutely irrelevant to games. Basicly you won't loose anything by skipping them but I personally appreciate them being part of compilation itself. Similar stories are before every exapnsion since Pandas and the only ones that I think are important are the last ones before Dragonflight.
Also if you love trolls and anime you will love Bwomsandi (Trol Loa of Death) because he is basicly a Ryuuk from Deathnote

  13. Retail has A LOT more story, however it's very difficult to access because of weird systems. Classic has 100x more MMO aspects and classical mmo systems with very small amount of story. I play both but currently Season of discovery in classic has me more hooked. Enjoy what ever you chose 🙂

  14. Horde committed genocide multiple times…. and has sufferer no real retaliation. For current content night elves get a new capital that the horde is allowed in. This after they burned down the last capital with women and children still in it. Then had those souls condemned to wows hell. Only to let them visit thr new one… that's the story telling that drives people mad. Of someone virus your house down with your family on it your not gonna to rebuild it and invite them back in.

  15. as of watching at 43:59 i think people are just giving their personal experienced opinions instead of giving you any help deciding, although i'm no pro i can try and give you a less passionate opinion of both versions(but to clarify its still a biased opinion cuse i play wow retail and not classic, but i did enjoy playing classic for a while)

Basically what people are trying to say is that in terms of ingame cutscenes and lore it self retail has more to offer, beacuse in retail you can still go and play old content like you can still do quests from older expansions and things, although somewhat changed for the new expantions updated old content, but its still there. To me the problem with Retail wow is that they discarded so much good content. when you start playing as a new charecter you are placed right at the begining of the previous expantion and thats kinda sad, you need to make the effort to go back if you want to see the beggining.

Classic wow gives you the Nostalgia gameplay of the "original game" but it does not have ingame cinematics or so, but you get the original zones as they were, you get original quests with original lore. The down side, to me is that it is much harder to play, its slow on the leveling system, you get less help and need to grind quite a lot to level up.

    So summing up
Retail Pros – Noob Friendly, has cutscenes, as more lore to explore.
Retail Cons – The initial Zones(original lore) has been altered, you dont get quite the original story… upgraded version
Classic Pros – The full original Story, original gamplay feeling
Classic Cons – Slow leveling and less helps, has no in-game cutscenes

Hope it helped somewhat, and i think you should play whatever you feel like, perhaps try watching some gameplay of both games before deciding 😀

  16. Black Dragons are attuned to the aspect of Earth, so they pretty much hear most of everything that is going on in the world. This is what led to their eventual corruption because their ability to hear did not shield them against the corrupting whispers of the Old Gods imprisoned within the planet.

  17. While classic does give you that more slow pace feel that I think you would enjoy more, the unfortunate reality is one you have finished that content you can't carry that character over to retail and continue the newer content with the same character.

You really have two options, play classic all through classic wrath and then start over in retail after, or play retail now and just accept that classic and BC is content you won't really experience but go into the next decade of content classic doesn't offer.

  18. the big issue with playing "classic" or "classic era" servers are the Lore/story isnt told. Its like dark souls everything is hidden in books scattered across the world in some of the most random corners in cities and dungeons. Quest give you a little bit but most of the quest are small stories about the areas ur questing in. Wotlk servers once ur in northrend the quest and the areas start to begin to tell a story much easier but you wont get there for a while. Thats where the channels like nobbel87 come in they have done and read all the small books and texts and explain the story. But outside playing warcraft 3 ur not getting much story for azeroth from "vanilla" or classic era servers. If you play retail (which I recommend you play ALL versions and see whats best for you) you will be playing catch-up for a LONG time because retail has 20 years of content in it.

  19. Classic has story but it’s slow and there are a lot of small disconnected stories and they’re often more interesting to people who already know the lore. Retail has TONS of story and you don’t start at max level in the new zone so idk why someone said that retail has no story you start on dragon isle. With retail there’s so much story you out-level the old zones quickly BUT you don’t have to leave a zone just because you’re not getting XP anymore. I like to go back to old zones on max characters to play through all the stories I’ve missed.

  20. I really find it fascinating that he had the same feeling as everyone else in the wow community when it comes to the Mist of pandaria expansion stilled painting trailer thing. Like yeah it's a good story and we do care about it because it's on Azaroth but it just feels so other compared to the rest of it and thus we and he also felt like we didn't care all too much about it like we probably were expected to.

  21. So, since some of the videos that were recommended to you were really scattershot, I'll try to help out a bit:
If you want really entertaining content that is also about the lore and story, I think you should try reacting to some videos from Platinum WoW, like "The DOWNFALL of Arthas Menethil" or "All 15+ Orc Clans in Warcraft explained in 15 minutes".
His editing is really fun, he animates for his videos, and it's actually informative, and easy to consume. He's to WoW what Bricky is to Warhammer, imo. Nobbel is more academic, but less dynamic in "make content of" sense.

  22. Bruh people in the stream comments be talking nonsense lol Firelands has not been “retail” for 10 years. Classic wrath could be a good place to start.. the lich king lore may be one of the best story lines in wow history. Cataclysm classic will be releasing soon as well.. which contains patch 4.2 – Firelands

  23. I watch your videos because you remind me of a dear friend from almost 50 years ago. His name was Aaron, and we went to Public School #57 together. He passed several years ago, but I never lost track. He didn't have any kids, so I did what I could for his Fam. Just keeping it real.

  24. not sure if at somepoint you were led on, but wow isnt like final fantasy in terms of questing and content, its always current expansion focus, and the ability to "relive" the older stuff youve been watching is very limited and janky, you have to go out of your way to do it and commit to doing it depsite it not giving you anything in terms of reward or challenge
