Westfall borders the Elwynn Forest and prior to the events of Cataclysm, was mostly populated by humans not under the Alliance’s complete control. The region was stolen right under the Alliance’s nose by its own bitter people. Once a rich agricultural center, this land has lain fallow and forgotten since the Second War, but was held by the Defias Brotherhood for a time before the Cataclysm. Stormwind claimed the land as its own, but found little time to be concerned with it, with insufficient funds and might to retake the region.
A handful of farmers still tried to keep their land, and some even attempted a tithe to Stormwind every year, but most only grew enough to feed themselves. Bandits and gnolls raided those farms that remained, and Stormwind’s resources were stretched too thin to protect the beleaguered populace. The Defias Brotherhood controlled much of the region, focused in the southern area of Moonbrook.
In Cataclysm, Stormwind has sent more troops to the area now, driving back the Defias deep into the Deadmines and causing them to vacate all their ill-gotten holdings above-ground. This may be due in no small part to the death of their leader, Edwin VanCleef, though his daughter still hopes to somehow rally the collapsed brotherhood. With that threat greatly diminished, Sentinel Hill has been expanded with new fortifications, and even Moonbrook is now Alliance-held.
An aerial view of the parched farms of Westfall, with the Raging Chasm and Sentinel Hill in the distance.
All is not without tragedy, however. The Furlbrow’s were murdered, including their poor horse, Blanchy. Their farm has been overrun with drifters and the homeless, as is the Jansen Stead. It seems like Stormwind still has issues to contend with regarding their beleaguered, forgotten farmers, some of whom have massed near Sentinel Hill’s walls. The armies of Stormwind spread thin, they are unable to hold everything the Defias once called their own, as evidenced by the kobolds that now live within Jangolode Mine and the mercenaries within the Dust Plains.
Later on in the main Westfall questline, Vanessa VanCleef reforms the Defias Brotherhood, as a part of their resurgence Sentinel Hill is attacked by the Defias, along with many recently converted homeless.

Westfall is dear to many, almost like Elwynn Forest. Certainly, the tragic stories unveiled here have taught us that there isn't just good or evil, but more like points of view.
Regarding the music, it was too bad that it did not receive more themes in Cataclysm. I hope you will like it regardless.
If you want to see the Classic version of this zone, here it is: https://youtu.be/_l9PxKWgFvE

Thank you for your work Meisio <3
i love this, so many memories of grinding through this area, thanks for posting.
your next task sir is a walk from the south end of each continent to the north. music on loop! or just walking in general with music looped. Not sure how easy or hard that is but i would love that! keep up the good work!
I see Meisio, I click like!
I see we're being kept on the Nostalgia rollercoaster by Meisio 🙂
Nice, thank you for the upload
15 year old me running around west fall, exploring, grinding, questing being up at 3am to do dead mines on a school night are seeing a random
Horde in west fall and following them around waving hey…. But it’s all gone now 34 years old, kids, wife job and responsibilities .. wish I could go back one ..last…time.🤴🏽
Oij git off my property gosh darnit. Dese dem damn rascals here.
How does a person miss a place that doesn't exist? But I'm missing this place 😢
Nostalgia!!! That's why this game is the best that was ever made.
I used to sympathise with the Defias cause, due to Stormwind's treachery … that was until they killed poor Old Blanchy. I shall avenge you old friend.
Nice, but some of the cataclysm are just too repetitive, and breaks continuinity.
The music is beautiful, as always in Wow. However, that Cataclysm theme is so sad. I guess it’s fitting, but it is sort of depressing in a way 🙁
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It s hard to accept, that we will never experience these times again…. But we can be grateful and try to remember every single memory of it.
감사합니다 사랑합니다
46:23 we all are here for this :Your welcome
As You wrote – Westfall is just as dear to me as Elwynn. I spent countless hours wandering around, just exploring the place.. and the fact that the place where Iactuallz live is really looks like Westfall only deepened my admire for this zone. Thank You very-very much for returning to this place once again, and share Your work! This will be my go-to for the week for sure! Thanks agan, love, p.
I remember I once lost my Blood Elve here… not a good memory haha
Hi everyone, what's the difference between this one and the classic westfall
he did 4 years ago? Wich one do you prefer?
I always remember this place during Halloween. ❤
None shall challenge the Brotherhood!
All of these classic wow ambiance videos hit me so deeply. They remind me of a simpler time when I first experienced this world in high school.
“Healer LF deadmines group.”
Lovely, except for the music that was added in cata lol
Is it me or does the music sound a bit sped up?
Absolute banger! 💯
I miss my human paladin.. 😢
Ah, Westfall, long time no see…
Realizing that its almost 20 years now, that most of us spend long time in the vanilla zones, farming rare mats for professions and even rarer quest drops (like eyeballs and fucking boar livers…) for the sparesly scattered quests, time really flew by. Back then, lvl 60 was just some distant thing, you will reach eventually, but the journey to get their and exploring all these zones, doing every single last quest cause you still werent high enough to comfortably go into Duskwood or Redridge, is something only vanilla players really can understand.
For returning players in Retail and even ones starting at zero with Classic, the sheer amount of guides what to do and avoid (like ignoring lots of the crafting profession, farming gold instead of mats and buying those later) and all the addons and optimization for questing routes really took away from that initial blind journey back 2005/2006. And at latest after BC hit, most people knew, that the real deal was getting Max level asap and spending too much time leveling was kinda stupid (in terms of Character progression).
Enclosed something for Coffee, Chocolate or anything that keeps you awake and able to create new videos, that bring back some of these memories from time to time 🙂
This is where I was born and raised. I watched a Horde war party come and kill my father one day and ever since then I have made a vow to destroy the Horde. I am now a leader of a great guild of knights and we frequently raid a small Horde outpost in the Barrens far away in the lands of Kalimdor. You can watch my exploits or just sit back and rest with me and my crew in Cut Throat alley and listen to the bard tell us a tale here. https://www.youtube.com/@CommodoreAstral/about
It's kind of funny; the things that I recall when I remember those feelings I had discovering WoW. The Wine Stained cloak, the first sword I found, the feelings I felt listening to the music for the first time, the feelings of excitement in battle grounds, the wonder of discovering new places and the joy of talking to others in this fantasy world. It's like these brief glinting feelings that I have very little to connect it too and the harder I try to recall them the quicker they fade away. West fall and the Arathi Highlands seem to be the easiest places to get those feelings. I have known from the start nothing would make me feel like this again and that's why I still to this day make WoW machinima and fanfiction here https://www.youtube.com/@CommodoreAstral/about
Just saw a snake in the field. In 2006 I had a Tauren and I thought it was so cool that I got a snake pet that followed behind me when I ran through orgrimmar
I visit my free lvl 20 character to visit WoW and ride gryphons😂
When you get lonely on the farm but you gotta womb factory
I never liked the new bombastic music they kept putting out, never rly let you chill, the old ambience is just pure genius
The music/atmosphere like this zone is what has always amazed me that other MMOs lack so much. Aion had one song/area similar, Lost Ark just got a zone after 4 years that could be memorable, but WoW has dozens of these atmospheric zones that are so amazing.
Even though I have not played WoW in ~1 year and the last two expansions have captured my attention for 1 month each, fond memories are still abound from this game.
The Defias, the Harvest Watchers, the lighthouse, the murlocs on the coast , those high level dustdevils and trying to level up to run deadmines. As human, after the ease of Elwynn Forest you really got the feeling wow was getting serious when you hit Westfall – the game got harder and levelling got slower …and of course that soundtrack .
