Hey everyone. Given everything that’s going on, I thought it was important to share what I know of Activision, Blizzard, Blizzard’s games, and Warcraft specifically.

  1. Honestly. hearing the lore team of wow getting hit by large layoffs gives me a big feeling of schadenfreude considering the damage they have done to the franchise for over half a decade now.

  2. I started playing Ascension not long ago after getting blasted with ads. Heh, I guess it worked. It made me realize how "Blizzard-simple" SoD is. Crazy to think, actually, because I was kind of impressed about WoW finally "taking risks," but no. Big risks like what they do in Ascension is just 10x more fun. It's baffling to me how every single little detail at Blizzard has to be micro-developed to fit some kind of time-wasting, player-engagement, whatever metric… Checking all their marks, but diluting any sense of potential fun in the process. We want a good, classic, seasoned, roasted chicken breast, something familiar, but awesome and fresh… Blizzard is giving us a lab-created, 99% chemical "thing" that just doesn't taste right, but hey, checks all the (nutritional) marks!

  3. The more we are made aware of these cuts, the more we are forced to internalize the reality of our part in supporting streamlined concept+sunk cost+reliable microtransaction games. sigh

  4. Sometimes you need to clean house. It would be better if they didn’t rush the process, but at the end of the day it’s still a business and when a new leader comes in there will always be restructuring to increase efficiency.

We live in an age where thanks to social media, people no longer go home and complain about being fired to their spouse or friends, they complain to the world on twitter, and then everyone cries – big company bad!

  5. They probably layed off the people that weren't putting anything valuable into the game. The Kens and Karens that did more complaining than working. And from seeing "Corpse" being changed to "Unconcious" in game.. Are we serious??!! Its a game for goodness sakes. Political and PR shouldn't be a thing inside a FANTASY game. I play the game so I can get away from the Real Life manucia. The last thing I was wanted to see was two married Men courting each other. And before you troll me, I dont care really but I would have rathered helped a Tauren court an Orc, being this is a fantasy game after all. Just my thoughts, you don't have to agree but everyone in this world has a right to their thoughts. Agree to Disagree is still a thing.

  6. I think companies are just unrealistic because eternal growth is not possible. It's not a real thing. If you have 30 million subs then you have won. You aren't ever going out of business. It's why wow has been able to survive all this time. Not because of it's lore, it's community, it's gameplay, or anything else except once you are big enough you can't really lose. So this whole thing seems like yet again companies not understanding business at all. Yes you won't get a bunch of new subs because you are literally one of the biggest and most played games in the freaking world, but you can make more money by appealing to the people who are currently subscribed and are probably going to stay subscribed for a periods of time.

So the layoffs don't even make sense. You should be expanding your team and coming up with new things to keep current players happy and they already have tons of micro transactions. If they were smart they would expand on that and smaller dlc based content. A long with new free content to keep the drip going. Focus on keeping the current player base happy and engaged to buy more.

  7. Problem with Xbox Game pass is that its oriented toward US and few other larger nations. Its not even available to huge portion of market that is compiled of large number of smaller countries. Not only that you have to make fake account with fake address in one of the available nations, but also you get language change to that nation and prices of that nations economic standard. Its a mess.

  8. If WoW is doing well I now hate WoW players for accepting the game to be turned into microtrashaction hell. The only way this is good is if Blizzard somehow starts making good games again. Goddamn pay pigs please go away.

  9. I'm optimistic about the layoffs. I doubt they got rid of all the problematic employees under Bobby's reign. That being said, I really really hope any good normal people who were laid off can find great jobs asap. Normal people losing their jobs is never a cause for celebration.

  10. I did one charge back on diablo immortal because they released a patch that SHADOW nerfed a couple of the main legendary gems that i had. I was furious because the game was at its peak and i was 20K down the rabbit hole…..:(. They banned my entire account even though i was denied the said chargeback. They never had any funds removed. But just because I started it. Mind you, it wasn't a FULL charge back… it was just for about $1,500. Not the full 20k. They found their little window of opportunity to just ban me and take all that money and BRUTALLY BULLY ME after that. They banned me from using the battle net store and have threatened to close my account if i keep reaching out to reconcile. This is complete bullsh*t and something needs to be done about this. What should I do, guys? I was literally a big part of the community. Nocturnal, one of the best DHs on my server….:( I even server transferred to play with that dude that spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on his account (JT) and i out-played him with my expensive but not THAT expensive account compared to him. I'm sorry, but I need justice. I want my account back so I can enjoy it. This is completely unfair. Microsoft should give me a 2nd chance. I'm so sorry that I even did that. I was intoxicated and really upset and acted out without thinking about the reprecussions.

Please don't troll me, guys and girls… this was truly heart breaking…:( please help me out community. I need to get my account back.

  11. Your comment that she worked her way up at ESPN so she must have worked hard is unarguably false. Look at her record there. Everything she was in charge of went straight to hell, to include ESPN's rating. Then she goes to CoD, and surprise, after she joined she implemented changes to start nickel and diming for everything. She quite literally failed upward, which is a trend you can see at 'specific' companies that are all tanking. Now she's put in charge of Blizzard, and shock, the game that got the least amount of cuts was the ONLY blizzard game she plays. They cut the wow teams, and you cite her saying she's not going to destroy the game as evidence everything will be fine? Guess what, she wouldn't say that because there would be a mass of players unsubscribing to jump ship. Instead she pretends that gutting the teams won't have an impact on the game. You say it's good because now they'll be saving money, but guess what, they'd save even more money if they fired everyone at Blizzard, that doesn't mean the games will keep coming out. I think it's very clear that there will not be an increase in cadence, that this next expansion will likely slow things back down to BFA/SL speeds again, and we won't see any new and innovative features in future expansions like we have been with the increased staff. They're not going to focus on WoW, they're going to use it as a cash cow. They're going to cut it to the absolute minimum they can, milk every last cent out of it, and leave it like that. I predict that the new expansion will still be great to start as they've likely already built most of the systems, and we'll go back to the old cadence of content releases, each of which will be less content than we've been getting because it's cheaper that way and because they no longer have the people to keep up the same speed and quality.

  12. I'm not coming back to WoW till they give me my damn Water Elemental back. When i joined in legion mastery increased its damage. All the legion companions on the table that were frost had it. It felt like it was supposed to be a core part of the spec and that I could reasonably expect it to be core to the spec moving forward. As a long-time warcraft fan who played since WC1, removing my favorite ability from being permanent was a slap in the face, and made all those hours I spent on my mage feel like junk. What am I playing for if they can change classes on a whim like that? Admittedly I did switch to Lonely Winter because of numbers, but to me, numbers do not compelling gameplay make and I had always held out hope they'd fix it and make the elemental fun to use when we got a serious rework. O how wrong I was. I can't even reroll because how do I know they won't just take random things I like out of the class I switch to? I also think all the mage players are children by constantly pointing at numbers as the reason for not using it. Or usability. Those are dev choices. It's awful and stupid if devs can't make the lore compelling to play. Pets are a feature that have been in the game since inception. If the devs can't design raid encounters without breaking them, what does that say about the devs? Blizz can go to hell for wasting my time

  13. "If you're moving 30 milion in 2022 and haven't grown that much in 2023…" Don't know if you know, but there's this thing that's been going on called inflation. I work with in billing integration across nearly 100 websites. In the past year, declines on transactions are double digit up. Upwards of 50% of those are "overlimit" flagged attempts. People want to join services, but they are being declined on initial and recurring transactions. That's been happening since 3rd quarter of 2022, just this past month its finally to curbed a bit, so I do foresee some growth in gaming in 2024.

  14. Focusing on the safe bets will probably further lead to a slow decline in the next years.
If they don't produce anything interesting, there won't be any new players while current players get bored and slowly leave to play more innovative games.

  15. I don't think it's control at all.. it's progress.. the feeling of progress.. If you feel that what you do has little to no affect due to something being large or due to management/qa extended processes. Any time I get close to that tired bored feeling I'll take on more tasks.
