  1. I've been playing FFXIV for about 3-4 weeks now, and overall I am really enjoying the game. There are a couple of things that I don't like, though. (And I understand that it is most likely because I don't fully understand them yet.)

The main thing is not having a bank. I just want to empty my bags so I don't have to carry all this stuff around with me (crafting/gathering). Once I have access to retainers, maybe I'll change my mind about that, but it just feels weird. Also, why can't I sell stuff on the market board right away? Not sure what the reasoning is on that one.

I like playing alts because I like the different races (which I find to be more varied than ffxiv, they are all too human for my taste. I like my cows and space goats! :)) and extra bank space. They are like my little family. I really like being able to do all the jobs and professions on one character, though.

I also find the glamour system confusing. So I have to keep all the gear that I want to use the appearance of? I have an embarrassingly huge collection of transmogs on WoW that I can't imagine would fit into the glamour dresser. I do like the dyes, though. Amazing that I can change the color of my gear!

All that said, there are many more things that I have said "why doesn't Blizzard do that?" than I dislike about FFXIV. But I still love WoW and I miss my characters and Azeroth. I'm really hoping they will redeem themselves and the game at some point.

  2. I just finished up ARR and I have to say I loved how during operation archon, you are not the only person fighting. You have a couple major parts to play, you don’t go to every base, you go to two. You trust your allies to deal with the rest

  3. Every single video about FFXIV talks about how its completely unimportant what race you take and its all cosmetic. I have to say its bullshit. Not just that every race has different set of stats, but also when you choose one of 2 versions of the race, even those have different stats. Those stats actualy are minimal in difference, and you could say they wont influence your job with some amazing percentage of stats…but – its not like there is no influence at all. Thanks.

  4. I'm probably going to get iced for this but I didn't know till just now that the devs for FF14 are Asian. (New player). That could be part of the reason the devs listen to their players. In their culture, it's very important to respect others and when they complain, you listen. In America, there is a lot of "I'm right and you're wrong." I'm sure this is not the entire reason, but it's part of it.

  5. The gear in FF14 can be very beautiful. But may I complain about how ugly lower level gear is for healers? It is soooo ugly compared to like tank gear. I always try on the tank gear when I'm getting rewards lol! Just so I can see how pretty I could look! 😂

  6. My first dungeon as healer I lost the group when I was clicking on the chest and I couldn't find them and they wiped! 😔 I told them "guys I'm so sorry, this is my first dungeon and I was looking at how to need or greed properly and I lost you guys." They were so nice! They said it's ok and you're still learning. In WoW if I caused a wipe they called me a crap healer. Such a breath of fresh air.

  7. great video! I will disagree on jobs being more intresting or fun in 14, most of them feel learnable in about an hour and there's nothing like interuppting and other similar mechanics to spice up the combat, it's nice to have all the jobs on a single character, but having to level almost every job on it's own is a grind and a half.
biggest thing missing is a big cooldown that drastically change your gameplay for a couple seconds.
and no i do not count blood of the dragon thingo or similar things cuz it's not changing your rotation
everything else i do agree with

    except crafting
    god i hate crafting

  8. Its an MMORPG that is more of an RPG. I don't understand why people giving up on WoW when there is World PVP and FF14 don't have. I play WoW for the MMO and the PVP and the Raids. But as a Sprout its just storyline and no World PVP. I am so confused. Are people brainwashed to play FF14?

  9. I think the main problem in FF14 vs wow is damage meters, its litterally that simple, bring in dmg meters in FF14 and a wave of players would come. removing a huuuuuge competative aspect of a game is backbreaking.

  10. I played WOW for 12 years, just unsubscribed. It is sad to leave, and there are still many good aspects of the game, such as the music and most of the instances and fights. But crafting and leveling alts are no fun anymore, and the grind to get to end game is boring, stupid, makework designed to make you grind huge numbers of hours. And the story line in BFA and Shadowlands is just stupid. As we deal with ever more powerful characters our role is mostly passive. I mean, the Titans or old gods or the jailer could just quash us like bugs any time they want. Nothing we do matters. It’s like Raiders of the Lost Ark, where the “main” character does nothing that affects the story line.

  11. Regarding gear, I think that's the reason why I could never get into WoW. Not necessarily the "flat textures" thing, but… it always seemed like they had too much going on. FFXIV armor tends to feel more like something a person would actually wear.

  12. Here we are a year later, and this video aged like fine wine. The covenant imbalances in WoW became a huge ordeal, the devs took 8 months to "listen" to the community, aaaaaaaaaand Blizzard had a huge sexual harrassment lawsuit (mostly with the WoW team). Ooof. I'm glad I joined the FFXIV community back in May. Such a great game and community of people.

  13. I actually don't think there's anything in WoW that is missing in FF XIV at this point. The rebirth of the game became what it is due to drawing heavy influence from WoW. Every way in which it is different to WoW is every way in which it is better. Yes, WoW has a rich add-on ecosystem, but that could never work in FF XIV due to Multiplatform plus it not being needed in this case.

I think listening to the player base is important to an extent perhaps, but it also depends how and how much. Different people have different ideas and opinions. It is near impossible to please everyone so they wanna be able to absorb feedback to help influence their own direction but it still needs to be their direction.

  14. I played City of Heroes/City of Villains from its beta all the way through when it shut down. Community was amazing and the devs seemed to really care(at least until they shut the game down for no reason). A few times I would go over and try WoW out, started around Burning Crusade, and even back then the community seemed a bit toxic. I think I played until the level cap increase to 90 and I just remember they had started doing all this level skipping and just giving brand new players a lot of things that many veteran players had to work their tails off for and allowing all those people to just immediately level up started to ruin harder content as you had these people now coming in not knowing what they were doing since they hadn't learned the game's system. Always enjoyed PvP in WoW until it became a CC-fest, which is pretty much what happens to any Blizzard game. I eventually quit WoW because it just felt like an empty game with a toxic community. Now as someone who has played and loved Overwatch for the last 5 years, I can say it would appear the big difference between Blizzard and Square is that it appears Square wants to build a community around their game, while Blizzard just wants to make money. The way they've just completely abandoned the Overwatch community over the last 2-3 years has just been really sad to watch, along with the way they squander their IP while fans call for tv shows and other cool things they could do. Meanwhile the Overwatch community has also become incredibly toxic and it's hard to find a game where there aren't at least several toxic players just spewing the most ridiculous nonsense in either voice or match chat. I guess it all comes from the top, as we've seen Blizzard has a toxic environment, it eventually bleeds down into their games. We've see Square actually come out and apologize and say they'll do better, remake their games, etc. and they've shown they are invested in building something fun and special. I think that's the biggest difference and it really shows in the FF14 community and in the game.

  15. 1 way it’s much worse though is that you’re forced to play through a boring amount of content before reaching anything substantial and fun.
2 ways it’s much worse is that you have almost no freedom, you pretty much HAVE to do the storyline/quests that it forces upon you which is lame for anyone who enjoys The Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda let you go ANYWHERE whenever you wanted, sure you might bite off more than you can chew and die but it was YOUR choice. FF14 is too much like an RPG and not enough of an adventure. It’s like playing an actual FF game where you are always forced to do things instead of having the choice of doing things. I don’t like this and I don’t think many people do. I don’t care if the story is “good” or anything like that if it’s forcefed to me it makes it boring. I want to do the storyline at my pace but the game forces you to play through the quest lines that IT wants you to do. Really boring and makes it extra bad if you want to make extra characters.

3rd thing that WoW does much better is that FF14 has really terrible replay value. Who wants to watch 20 hours of text again?? No one.

  16. Wow did alot of things right for a long time. But it had to grt dethroned at some point. All the elitist guilds you had to endure to even attempt endgame destroyed the game for me. That, and when the original pvp ranking system got changed destroyed the game for me.

  17. for story i would say i felt that way too i felt like wow story is so hit and miss for the warcraft lore right after warcraft 3 tbh and yet you don't even play as some nobody you play literally just play as the heroes themselve or the villain

  18. still on the free trial after a month and a half and I enjoy the solo stuff in MMOs. Yes I didnt like questing in a empty area in WoW only to have people come along and ruin my fun. People dont bother me in FF like they did in WoW.

  19. I've never played WoW, but the PTR also caused a lot of issues for Overwatch back in its peak. Whenever they released a new hero on there, they were always extremely unbalanced, leading to a lot of preconceived notions about their viability/effect on the meta. It also really reflects how Blizzard doesn't know how to balance classes/heroes for the life of them, regardless of the genre.

  20. I actually switched to WoW recently from FF14. FF was my first MMO. Both games have about equal pros and cons. For me, WoWs world while not graphically “superior” is better then FF14. In FF I spend zero time exploring because the world is just bland and uninteresting. With WoWs, the art style and the way they handle colors and lighting make me want explore every nook and cranny. On the raid front both games are equal. Gameplay is about the same but I have to lean towards WoW because I like the use of trinkets. Although FF has more intricate classes. But because of that, sometimes a really intricate class AND a very mechanic heavy fight and be stressful. The slightly easier classes with intricate fights is more in my lane. I have a full time job and wife. I don’t have all that time to get good. The FF community will always be better, but the WoW community really isn’t that bad. All that said, for me personally WoW is a much better game and a much better looking game overall

  21. The point about the robes and armor design hit home for me in a different way. I am a really recent convert (just finished ARR last night) and I remember standing there almost dumbfounded, moving my character all different directions when I realized the weather actually affected the model. His hair and jacket fluttered in the strong wind, his clothes looked wet. It was just like… the detail was insane and unheard of. WoW practically axed their weather and day/night cycle as well which sucks because it made the world feel static.

  22. What If I like alts and having different names on each class? I'd want a Tiger race samurai, Human warrior, girl human mage with different names. Is the game alt friendly at all? Not a fan of all class in one character
