  1. Something I think is underappreciated by people looking at this cinematic who don't know the games is understanding that this is a progression from what is effectively comic book style art. Chris Metzen's original designs are very much like that, and these are all characters who existed before. It's not like they were taking an existing person and rendering them in, they're working with a fictional character that needs to still look like themself in a completely different style.
There were some older versions of these characters, Anduin in particular, who at earlier points did look a bit uncannily like IRL people (hello, Battle for Azeroth Heath Ledger Anduin), but at this stage he looks like himself… you can see traces of his father in him, and a feel for what the pure priest boy king could have become after such deep trauma and suffering, years of burden.
The one thing that gets me, a little, is that Thrall reads a bit too young in my opinion. He's a little too clean. Orcs are longer-lived than humans but not by that much.

  2. Anduin (the human in the cinematic) does not have a beard normally. So it's actually really cool to know that they probably added it to get out of the uncanny valley when talking 😀

  3. Blizzard nr. 1 when it comes to evoking feelings within their trailers with top quality animations, if only their end products met the same standards. As far as I know no real actors were used, this was all CGI.

  4. They are so good at what they do that they straight up skipped uncanny valley with this. The jump in quality and realism from already top of the industry productions that they have done before is insane. Even more if you realize that this was not done via facial performance capture.

  5. just wish anduin didnt have the hollywood teeth here. He's been clean shaven until now, and i feel like the patchy beard gave him the rugged look to show he's been away for quite some time to deal with his sorrow. other than that this is perfect. its insane how good their faces move. The eye movement super realistic. Everything is conveying the emotions perfectly.

  6. This is to date the best trailer I've seen. So little happening overall mean while so much happening with the amazing details. The trailer invoked abundance of feelings.
