  1. Videogames once almost got me killed. I went swimming at a shore for the first time in a decade. I saw the water and thought "Oh, I can easily swim this distance". Once I was far out I was noticing my muscles were beginning to give up.
After playing games all my life I forgot in real life you actually get tired fast. Witcher, gta, assassins creed, etc. In most games you just have infinite stamina. Terrifying. I made it back, but couldn't feel my muscles. They were at the brink of not working.

Also, realistic maps in games like Tarkov helped me with orientation in real life.

  2. The year was 2008. I was really good at Warcraft Dota compared to my peers at high school. Back in those days, betting games are common at lunch break. I was racking up bills after bills. Until someone from a pro team in my country, you know them as Mineski, heard of me and invited me to train with the best players on Philippines.

I was never the best player but I sure was creative and landed a job on their team as a training partner. That part time job funded my whole college and now, 15 years later was a full fledged game dev in one of Blizzard's game.

  3. Dunno if this is the same to others, but whenever I need to memorize stuff (like a lot of stuff), I specifically only play fighting games. Memorizing and/or making up/trying combos on training rooms (somehow) eases me in my memorization.

  4. I remember wanting to play Paper Mario so bad but my parents had to read me the dialogue. Yeah learning to read to play video games is a big one, I grew up on all the Mario RPGs
