Videogames once almost got me killed. I went swimming at a shore for the first time in a decade. I saw the water and thought "Oh, I can easily swim this distance". Once I was far out I was noticing my muscles were beginning to give up.
After playing games all my life I forgot in real life you actually get tired fast. Witcher, gta, assassins creed, etc. In most games you just have infinite stamina. Terrifying. I made it back, but couldn't feel my muscles. They were at the brink of not working.
Also, realistic maps in games like Tarkov helped me with orientation in real life.
Video gaming upside :
– relaxation;
– training concentration;
– train reading + geography skill
– teamwork.
VG downside
– can be addictive.
– can be costly.
Adding onto the point with reading, video games also helped a lot of us foreigners learn to speak English, or at least learn a lot of new words.
i only know how to speak English because of games
Games are stress reliever
About the surfing, i can definetly aprove it. Driving in some driving game with steering wheel does the same – you can just relax and drive anywhere you want
Video games are literally the reason why I'm so fluent in english. 10 times more useful than all english classes at school.
The year was 2008. I was really good at Warcraft Dota compared to my peers at high school. Back in those days, betting games are common at lunch break. I was racking up bills after bills. Until someone from a pro team in my country, you know them as Mineski, heard of me and invited me to train with the best players on Philippines.
I was never the best player but I sure was creative and landed a job on their team as a training partner. That part time job funded my whole college and now, 15 years later was a full fledged game dev in one of Blizzard's game.
Dunno if this is the same to others, but whenever I need to memorize stuff (like a lot of stuff), I specifically only play fighting games. Memorizing and/or making up/trying combos on training rooms (somehow) eases me in my memorization.
Stress relieve, plus I know how to powerwash now
DayZ taught me how to read a map , helps when my GPS starts tweaking
Playing online games like CoD and Overwatch and putting up with verbal toxicity. That practice of not picking fights with hurtful people has saved me a few times.
Games like sc2 or very hotkey focused games are great for office jobs
I remember wanting to play Paper Mario so bad but my parents had to read me the dialogue. Yeah learning to read to play video games is a big one, I grew up on all the Mario RPGs
Helps me deal with all the bad days things haven't been good for me for year's and getting home and hopping on the game is what i look forward to and people will say thats lazy or something but i play to free my mind and feel some peace so ill work 16hrs and come home and play till 4 in the morning and get up at 7 everyday that time gaming feels more worth than sleeping sometimes also thank you to my homies for being there @jalaninb @lxve_vxnity
I understand english easily by playing game,so i understand each mission/quest.and like the next week,i encounter a foreign who is quite lost,so i can help him to the Station 😂
Bro finally Liz is back 😭
I learned how to type before school “taught” me playing Warcraft 3 battle net
It got me a job and A career that now Nets me over $130000 a year
Teamwork. Leadership. Organization.
arma taught me to read maps without an indicator telling me where i am
I learned that the bad guys use ak-47’s
Im this posts 1000th like!
