  1. "the last true god" what a fitting title to the last god where blizzard didn't burn off bridges, simply killed off offscreen or benched to infinity like sargeras. blind priests praying to the nameless light god in churches while tauren and blood elves run around smiting shit. wow lore is just dead at this point…

  2. 3:57 That's because most of the new lore isn't retcons by way of changing old lore, it adds to it. Whether they did a good job or not is a different issue, but the new stuff doesn't contradict the old stuff, in the majority of cases.

  3. I think this is all correct except one major thing is backwards. The old gods are the unchecked life manifest. They are the overgrown roots that the TItans could not manage and grew into the world exactly like tree do. Devouring everything until they become rot, void and shadow.
The "old gods" are the titans creations on every world they seed and every world they fk it up. Its why the old gods have a connection to the dream, its why galakrond is rot, its why the old gods are rooted into azeroth. They were life that got out of control and became weeds.

  4. I hope they just say that the shadowlands is a version of death and the Jailer was just lying about how involved hes been. Even doing things like the Orc heritage armour quest and having your ancestors show up is immersion breaking because of that expansion

  5. What if it all boils down to Balance? Everything has a light and dark cycle and what they are trying to find is that perfect Balance which brings Harmony? The Titans are trying to force Order which leads to stagnation. The Void is trying to force Chaos which leads to Entropy. Life is the center of that. An attempt at creating a perfect Balance of Creation and Destruction, Life and Death.

    Renewal.

  6. Considering Elune is of Life which can be chaotic and with connection to Eonar (order) and being the Winter Queen's Sister (Death) they could portray her as a Goddess of Balance which does connect to the druids/nature/emerald dream.

With arguments to her of being light/void, night warrior lore and the tear of elune being a way to restore a prime naaru, the elunahir story and how she did not intervene with the kaldorei genocide because she wanted them sent to ardenweald to help her sister kinda feels like "there is always life and death"/cycle always continue/there must be balance in all things.

Wish they give her proper structure with the next expansions, patch 10.2 could have been an opportunity for her to show or make her presence felt considering its a druid theme and the conflict is in the emerald dream. Atleast for the winter queen she sent her envoy to help and had an appearance in one of the quests.

  7. I just realized how postmodern/millennial Warcraft has become over time: a fantasy universe that slowly rejected or destroyed or trivialized or commoditized the mystique of all its gods and greater than life powers.

  8. I kinda think they should never do an Elune reveal. For one thing, I'm very doubtful that they could pull it off in a satisfying way. It also robs Warcraft of one more element (and a major element at that) that's actually mystical and mysterious. Explaining all the mystery is usually bad for lore and world building. Honestly they've revealed too much about Elune already that kind of diminishes her, like by the Winter Queen calling her her sister.

  9. They need to just stick to fantasy and leave the philosophy out of it. I want to log in and fight like a bear and explore wondrous things. I don’t need them to give me a philosophy thesis to read. Keep it personal, authentic, and fresh. Stop trying to put our world inside of wow. Write small stories in abundance that spark curiosity. Not vague over arcing experiences.

  10. I want to know what happened thousands of years ago that made the proto-elves switch from worshipping Loa to worshipping Elune. It seemed a sudden, and final, change. You can even find ancient armour and things around the place showing proto elves worshipping both at one point. Also, what did they look like? Would love to know.

  11. Eonar is the most sus character in the game, she is using Elune as a mask 99%, Amanthul as 2nd. Sarg got dominated while cleaving worlds, check his art, dom runes on him + blue eyes + runes on sword too, not a coincidence Anduin got showed how domination works.. Titans planned everything, cant wait to deal with them. Sarg could have destroyed Azeroth easily with that sword, instead he aimed at something (Azeroth's prison, Azeroth's heart, or at something else) with his last attempt.

  12. One thing that confuses me about Elune and her being tied to Life (or even Light) is the fact that every ability connected to the moon (and thus Elune) does Arcane damage, which is tied to Order

  13. All this lore is overblown and just new iterations of the same stories and structures. I miss when Warcraft was just about orcs vs humans and we were just obsessed with raiding black rock mountain!

  14. Issues with the game itself aside, I feel like an expansion about the afterlife/coping with grief may not have been the best move in late 2020. I got in late just before DF came out, and SL just felt… oppressive. I use gaming for escapism, and SL just didn't feel like an escape. I went from the news talking about death to the game talking about death and the afterlife, and it was just too much.

  15. I always disliked the sheer mundanity of the Titans. They never seemed divine so much as powerful aliens playing god and I was tremendously disappointed they were "stronger" than actual gods for much of the later lore. Personally, I'm hoping this breaks away from that and gives us some mysticism again, rather than explaining everything and thuzs stripping the magic from Elune as well.
