World of Warcraft wears a lot of its fantasy inspiration on its sleeve, even since WoW Classic it has been unafraid to dip into the creepier side of that genre – the creepy quest Legend of Stalvan proves as much. Originating in the dark and dank Duskwood, the Legend of Stalvan sent players across the entirety of the kingdom of Stormwind, tracking down documents and solving a horrible mystery in the game’s Creepiest Quest. World of Warcraft Classic is a 2019 MMORPG video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Running alongside the main version of the game, Classic recreates World of Warcraft in the state it was in before the release of its first expansion, The Burning Crusade, though has since expanded to include TBC Classic.

I only have one nitpick, during vanilla this quest was done on foot. You didn't get your first mount until about 20 levels later.

The whole Defias storyline, this questline, Abercrombie & Stitches are pretty much why I rolled Alliance on alts back in the day. Even as a Druid alt I ran all the fucking way from Teldrassil to Westfall just to be called a lapdog. These Classic era quests have a groundedness to them with great world building that I don't think WoW in its later years has ever been able to replicate.

I’m kind of sad that Blizz changed the quest completely in retail. It’s an amazing hit of world building that is not linked to some sort of master plan or “kill 10 boars for science”.

I was doing this quest at like 4 in the morning once in vanilla with a friend. We walked into the Goldshire Inn and found a married chick we knew from our guild in her underwear, cybersexing some random nightelf male. Turns out she was sending pics of her genitals to other guys in the guild and ended up leaving her husband (and their two kids).

You are an excellent storyteller. This was perfect to appreciate the Halloween season. I never really got the smaller touches in how the new Stalvan questline ties into the old one.
