  1. Nice find! 🙂
I have actually never seen that road, and I've spent countless hours exploring Vanilla and WotLK.
The theory of it connecting to the Shatterspears sounds a tad more likely, in my ears. But both would most probably work tbh!
And thanks for mentioning WoW Geoguesser! I need to try that.

  2. In retail you can get out of bounds in ZG and it’s really interesting. There’s actually a lot going on. You can even make your way to Kara almost, but you can’t see a lot of buildings, but there are still a lot there, even a small town. There are even npcs, kinda, they’re all frozen and you can’t click on them lol. There’s even the old cave that back in BC was speculated to have a tiger mount vendor in if you could make your way to it without flying. Ofc you need a DH to do all of this, which is why I said it needs to be retail.
There’s also a troll village outside of Kara if you can glitch out of bounds, but unless you know what you’re doing, I don’t suggest you try because you could randomly find yourself in a dc loop. ZG’s out of bounds is a lot safer, just don’t jump into the obvious voids lol.

  3. When the idea of a WoW + started floating around after the announcement of Classic, I was on the side of expanding the game to include content that had to be scrapped. Like giving us at least part of Hyjal that was intended to be in Vanilla, and quest lines that were never truly concluded. Doing this would have given players that skipped classic because it had nothing new, a reason to play. Then do the same for the other expansions…. still waiting on my Npetulon raid…

  4. Hi Jedi!

On one hand, I love little mysteries like this, and I wonder if the developers placed them just for fun. On the other hand, development takes time and money, so unless editing the main world map "for funsies" was something developers could do in their offtime, I'm willing to believe this was supposed to be the start of a much grander project. Like you said, it was probably supposed to a path/tunnel system to connect Darkshore to Moonglade, the troll village, and perhaps an underground Timbermaw Caverns zone.

  5. I wish I remembered where I accessed this but back in Wrath I was running around in Burning Steppes, doing some mountain climbing, and managed to work my way up into the mountains bordering Elwynn Forest. My map said I was off the coast of Westfall. I found a pool of water that was cut in half. I think I came out above the area with several waterfalls and a house above them, east of Stormwind.

  6. Check the flightpaths in the area, it's most likely a "flavor" area the devs put in the mountain ranges for people to look at during their flights in Classic. There are plenty of these in classic, one of my favorites is the one near Feralas, the beach party. Another near that area is a river in the mountains with a night elf tower, should be between Silithus and Feralas iirc

  7. to add a bit. i think the road is used in game, but as flight path scenery (like the Ironforge airport and SW waterfall house, just fly from moonglade to teldrasill should take you over the road if memory serves me correctly. its a striaght flightpath, no connectors, mainly used by druids to get back from moonglade to teldrasil after teleporting there at around lvl 10 to get bear form if im remembering correctly.

also back in the day, i used a addon called "carbonite quest" which basically had the GEOguesser map in game. im sure carbonite still exists, and can probably still be used in classic like some other really old addons.

  8. IS that the hidden troll town that you could use slow fall to get to from darnassus back in classic wow….??? It was a hidden town that has been there since the original 2006 version of classic. I actually went to this place a couple times when wall walking still existed. It was the only way to get there. You had to wall walk up a mount in Darnassus and then slowfall into the town. That or winterspring I forget the proper trajectory.

  9. Jedi, if you can load the warcraft map so u can fly a camera into the geometry, you should be able to check if there're any sealed tunnel cavities around the timbermaw caves. I've thought the same thing back in the day but never looked into ut

  10. In Vanilla initially up the northern uppermost coast of Darkshore, there were elite red dragons. My guildies and I played Horde, and we were level 30 to 40 at the time on a pvp server. We only investigated them once or twice , they agrod pretty easily and killed us quickly. I can't remember what content patch removed them, but it was an early 2005.

  11. Amazing! While it might be just scenery for passersby above, the theory is intriguing and plays right into the loose ties thing and the direction we'd like Classic+ to take. Thanks for the great vibe Jedi!

  12. The timbermaw hold theory might have some weight to it. As there is a section of Classic Azshara that is called 'Timbermaw Hold'. Which always felt weird to me. As it did not connect with Timbermaw Hold that connected Felwood, Moonglade and Winterspring

  13. I used to go to the troll village quite often in vanilla, I believe it was via wall jumping in winterspring. I don’t remember if I came across that road or not but was so happy when they kept the troll village for cataclysm. I think you’re theory for the road is correct! Very cool!

  14. Back in Vanilla I actually got down into that troll village with my mage; had to find a way up via Winterspring into the mountains above it, then slow-fall down here and there. There was nothing to do there, but it was interesting to look at.

  15. I would love to hear the original designers of the world/map of wow to explain a lot of mysteries or other odd places that clearly indicate something more was to go down and why they were made as they were or what plans they had for them for later patches/expansions that didn't happen etc. I have no idea how many of them are still working with bliz rn but i assume many have left. Maybe that would be a cool idea of a classic+ version of the game. Complete unfinished stories/locations/quest lines or something along these lines.
