  1. Idk bro, I still want to believe she won't die but let's face it: how is this Ranger General from 15 years ago gonna fit in the story so far? Embracing actions she despites (duh), plus the soundrack thing… it's like they're paving the way for the cute Sylvanas to be the sacrificial lamb, instrumental to the defeat of Zooval. An easy way out of the corner you mentioned, haters will thrive when she's finally dead, fanboys will see her as a martyr. I've always been skeptical about this before, now it just feels if they ever considered that scenario, well we never got so close. I really hope I'm wrong, I just trust the storywriters as less as you

  2. I mean they did the Jaina cutscene where we save her from Thros, where Katherine grabs her out of her torment and selfdoubt and selfhatred and her mother tells her that she could not have saved her father from himself. That was very well setup in my opinion. But I am not really sure what made it so good. Alliance had close to zero interactions with Jaina since she got sent away as soon as we land on Kul Tiras and we bring her out as the culmination of the whole Alliance questline. A questline that was NOT about Jaina but about the Drust, Lady Ashmane and her pirates, and Lord Stormsong and the ships.

What was it in Jainas's buildup that resonated so much with me that I'm missing from this buildup with Sylvanas?

  3. Build up and payoff are such a core concept in storytelling.

Modern Blizzard want the payoff without the build up.

Yeah I liked the cinematic… but I agree that it was trying to do too much too quickly.

  4. Something everyone keeps forgetting is that we have been told that time moves differently in the Shadowlands compared to how it moves on Azeroth. It can easily be explained that while the cinematic is only four and a half mins or so, the actual events that take place could taken places over months in the Shadowlands. We see the other chars leave over time, it could very well be that the first two left after being there for weeks and then the next two leave after being there for a month or two and it takes another month or two before she actually wakes. Because we know time moves differently in the Shadowlands there's no way to know exactly how LONG she was lying there. We speculate it wasn't long because the cinematic was short and we are accustomed to how time moves on Azeroth and in the Corporeal realm BUT, we don't know for certain.

  5. There's one aspect I don't understand at all. She explains it like she (good sylvanas) was stuck inside.. trapped.. witnessing the banshee take control of her. How is that possible when the good half of her soul wasn't in her body? Unless there wasn'y a good and bad half to her soul, but they sure implied it.

  6. “The Forsaken prioritize freedom more than anything else”. Literally the faction that runs the most slave camps, led by someone who executed her own people if they refuse to worship her. But, sure, they prioritize “freedom”.

  7. I don't hate this cinematic, the exchange between Sylv and Uther was nice. But, it has the same problem as pretty much everything else in this story: They are chugging through it at breakneck speed, nothing is allowed to breathe, nothing gets to take its time and flourish naturally – it's just a constant rush to the finish line. If this was one of like…eight cinematics that deal with Sylvanas coming to terms with herself, then fine, but we all know it's not going to be. This is likely it, bar some in-game dialogue that is like 3-5 lines or something.

  8. Another "Arthas moment" with eyes: At the start of the death cinematic, he opens his eyes, still with the blue mist there, and it slowly goes away.
The only thing missing in this, besides the present mist in Arthas' eyes is the breath sound when he opens his eyes.
Being just before he died, might that work better with regard to foreshadowing?
Not sure, but i still think that was the more impactful, similar if you will, comparison to the closeup Sylvanas opening her eyes.

  9. I agree with you 100% on all, except one thing. When you say, it should last months. I don't want gated content like we use to have, where you get 1 bit per week and you have to wait because of an artificial barrier. If we were to take FF14 way, it would be a major patch content, an entire MSQ chain of 10-15 hours of quests, with multiple cinematics, that lead to the acceptance. Thats what I want, I dont want to wait for my content, I want to experience it all in a big chunk. Next content patch can be the continuation, like now she accepted her past and we are ready to make a move on the Jailer. My 0.02$

  10. Your proposed questline is fucking brilliant and it's a crime that we got this rushed version instead. And agreed: the quality of this cinematic is fanTASTic, and I hope ALL WoW cinematics are this good looking.

  11. 00:44 "Sylvanas wakes up and she is tormented, she doesn't speak, , she cries herself to sleep at night she screems, and you finally go up to her, you reach up to her as a LOYALIST. Only the LOYALIST get to do this part of it, and Sylvanas goes and she sais 'TAKE ME..' " haha that's some "loyaslist" Sylvanas fan fic right there 😆

  12. I admit that it will be cool to see Sylvanas screaming for what banshee had done. All that idea you said is cool, except that part when we must make her a tour of Azeroth. Sure Zovaal will remake the reality in max 24 hours but is fine, let's take you to see your city(undercity), your former home, the place from where you wanted to kill yourself is perfectly fine and logic, no pressure 😂😂

Now puting aside the irony, I admit it would be cool as well to see what the ranger general have to say about those places , but that have sense only if time is one our side. But when Zovaal is remaking the rality has 0 sense.

  13. Split soul remember. Jailer gave her soul back with purpose so she can suffer because he knew these two souls would never agree with each other. Banshee sylvanas and ranger general syovamas are two different personalities. Ranger general sulvanas is like classic WoW and BFA/SL sylvanas and her loyalists are washed out version WoW where you buy everything with money. Cinematic is good and if you understand it for the sake of loving this game then there is no arguing about it. If you see this cinematic as another “I’ll give my opinion for views” then ofc there will be more negative then positive

  14. And when you said blizzard doesn’t want players to be part of story. I was pissed when SL lunched and and guess what, sepulcher of the first time reacted to us. Jaina there , Anduin there, Thrall there three strongest characters on Azeroth , but it reacts to some random character in butterfly costume. While you can’t deny that WoW has stray from their lore, I love the game where character is adventurer. Utter being main guy in cinematic and what he does makes perfect sense

  15. Its not about forgiving herself but accepting what was done. Before uthers help she was just nonono its not me, its torment. Uther just showed her thats not torment and thats she who did it. Uther just started her realizing but she didnt accept it yet. Also her eyes are showing that its time for her 2nd soul but still theres a lot of work to merge both souls.

  16. They should have done this back in legion I think that would have been the best time to start a redemption arc, instead they are trying to force feed us a plot that now makes little sense.

  17. Patty Mattson (Voice actor that plays her.) I believe has stated she wants to retire from voice acting. I dunno. Seems to me as you suggested it may be foreshadowing that Slyvanas is gonna give herself to something and "Faces the consequences" of her actions. And she is "killed off" from further storylines.

  18. That lack of coherence even in the same video shows issues of not caring. Like "what should we launch to them so they continue paying subscription" and do not even care if it makes sense or not.
And I'm not talking of the ones who make the video. The excellent art, animations, brutal use of music themes and leitmotifs…it shows a big love for the setting. And it is this what actually what saves the video. But the content that's in it, the scripting…oh dude. It's so bad.

  19. I wonder if they will do another cinematic before the end of SLs between Anduin and Sylvanas 1 more time. A tearful farewell, or could Azeroth's power or essence return her to life to leave the SLs. Fighting at the core of their world has to count for something doesnt it.

  20. I agree this cinematic gave the most depth to Sylvannas' character thus far (even though I hate the story) and is a great direction story telling wise for Blizzard. The art gives it a unique WC3 feel.
Ysera's rebirth and the Bastion trailer are the only cinematics this expansion that got me in the feels. I only rewatch some of the other SL cinematics for the "wow! cool!" factor. That SL helm/sky breaking trailer though … never gets old! Although now it's sometimes depressing because of how much hope I had for the expansion.
