I reviewed the DPS logs for various fights in both Heroic and Mythic Castle of Nathria from the Mage POV to get a better understanding if frost mages are any good in shadowlands. You will also see the number of players preferring to play between frost, fire and arcane for mythic plus in all settings.

If you prefer to play frost over the other specs that’s completely fine but I would strongly urge you to try all specs. You may end up enjoying fire after giving it a chance to really understand the process and how the spec work.

This is based on Warcraft Logs and RaiderIO. Please understand this is a. just my opinions based on what I am seeing on the warcraft logs and personal experience b.not meant to promote elitism, but awareness.

Answer was they were looking sweet for a change, had the frost spec rolling for once, then people started to bitch, 3 months of nerfs later and more to legendries just before the release and Blizz managed to eviscerate frost to be totally shit. It's not even like you could hold your own like in BFA if you didn't jump on the fire train, if you're frost now you should probably consider a re-roll because you're going to be warming that bench for a long time. I don't know how any of those mages are in mythic and playing frost, they must all be the RL or their rosters are weird.

  2. Frost is a hardcasting, cooldown heavy, proc reliant, proc munching, builderspender, dampening, support spec. Not to mention it doesn't have a single stun. Oh but at least we got fire blast that's not even worth putting on your bar! Frost isn't fun nor balanced in any area of the game. 1v1s? A**. 1vX? Dogsh*t. 2v2? Crap. 3v3? Below average at best. Raiding? Very end of the pack. M+? Decent but not nearly as good as fire.
    It's a shell of it's former self. All the reasons people chose the spec originally are no longer the goals blizzard has for it. Why would anyone play frost? It used to be the pvp spec, not anymore and hasn't been since mop. Maybe some ranged comps go well with it in 3s, but fire/arcane is just simply better. It's obviously not the pve spec as everyone's been saying since early legion. It doesn't fit the right niche for the people whose been with the spec for years. It doesn't fit any niche now that I think about it lol. Frost needs serious help and fast cause people are hopping off ship.
