I think the best thing WoW can do to help it long term is make it easier and faster to get into end-game content. Make leveling 5 levels per expansion, but those levels should go pretty fast. Decrease mythic to 16 players. Raiding+ (affixed raiding) in which you only fight bosses.
It's hard to get Gen Z and most likely Gen Alpha to do a lot of work to get to end game, there needs to be a streamlined way to get to the fun stuff.
And lastly, NO PLAYER HOUSING!
We do need to do something with pet battles, maybe some leaderboards, live tournaments, more abilities? Take pet battles to the next level.
Update the tech.. Get rid of story locking behind raids. Realize that a lot of their player base don't raid or do mythics., So many things…
Merging servers really need to happen, im on a low to sometimes medium server and it sucks 🙁
I always bump into other realm people every time I to farm or camp mounts due to cross realm zones. No point for us to us to ge divided other than blizzard making money on realm transfer.
LEGACY CONTENT SUPPORT! Aka More Timewalking Raids. Last one added was Firelands in 8.2.5 (2019)… there are 30+ amazing raids that would be fun for nostalgic vets & new players who missed them. I hear FF14 does this really well, it's a shame Blizz lets it collect dust. If they wanted to make it fresh, combining legacy raids with Torghast like roguelite abilities would be an absolute banger. It could serve as a new reward platform of course, focus on cosmetics.
Stop trying to turn Classic into Retail would be a start.
I've suggested that after this World Soul Saga Blizzard needs to essentially revamp the entire game to attract new gamers. Essentially treat it like a new game with new marketing and everything. It wouldn't be WoW 2, but wipe the slate clean and start a new "history file" on a different planet where we play as ancestors of our current characters. At this point, I'm not sure how a new player would make any sense of the story of WoW.
With a fresh slate, you'd be able to implement systems that tell the story from the beginning during the new player leveling experience.
– I want body types. I'm not talking about body sliders. Give us like 4 different body types per race. Slim, Average , Athletic , Thick
– Give us face shapes for ever races like the humans have.
– Makeup for Every race like the humans have. At least the races with out fur.
– I want Helms and Hats that still let us have HAIR and not be bold.
– I want ALL classes to have more free movement in when in combat . They proved they could do it with Plunderstorm.
– Pet battles could be played like Arena battles Where 1 pet goes in at a time with its set stats and skills . You play as it against someone else playing as their pet once it dies you switch to the next.
– I feel the animations need a reworking . As much is a Dislike Gw2 their animations are one of the only things they did right. When your characters stop they can stumble to the side or slide. When they are done attacking they fully change their stance.
– I want dyable armors
– I want Heterochromia for every race
– Crating! omg…..if I have to craft 100 bags for my guild. It takes ages . Maybe speed the crafting up for large bulks like that.
– Housing ( agree on that)
– Face and body scars for every race
– Skin colors should not be based off the face type . I'm What I call a super mutt. I have Native, Mexican, German, African , Spanish and a few other races mixed in . A lot of the time the faces for the African inspired group fit my face better, however I can never get a light skin color for those faces. I notice Latino's and Latina's are kinda skipped . Most games it's always African, Asian, and Caucasian but his Hispanics totally left out.
– Weddings and Last names
Make guilds more than a chat box… now guild are just that there is not really anything other then raids and mytics that keep guilds together, there is a ton of improvement they can do there games like FFXIV got a lot of content for guilds…
I liked the race mount customization idea you had Soul, it would be awesome to have for the game.
God no, I don’t want Europe merged with NA, NA is full of pure bellends. They need to do something big with guilds, everyone I talk to wants something like guild halls. Best idea I heard was guild housing with the ability to have personal housing on the guild hall grounds. Blizzard also need to stop dumping features and iterate, it’s the whole point of development.
1. Merging servers is horrible for RP servers. There are already more non rpers than rpers on there and while you dont even notice majority of them, all it takes is 1 person to ruin and event that somebody spent hours preparing for everybody. It's bad enough that whole parts of cities are unusable because people are waiting there for the queue to pop or to spam boost offers and every other mailbox has brutosaur standing next to it. If youre not a roleplayer, you wont understand, but we dont need any more of that.
2. Crossfaction and crossrealm play should have always been a thing and more of it is even better, HOWEVER blizzard needs to understand the difference between lore and gameplay. We dont need to have peace in lore to justify crossfaction m+ and raiding. And most importantly having just neutral or alliance storylines sucks for horde. There are plenty of horde core stuff to do without fighting the alliance, but instead of having class storylines, factions storylines etc, we now get 1 bland/alliance focused storyline per patch and that sucks. You can still go and kill Arthas in ICC on retail, that doesn't mean he's still there lorewise. Crossfaction gameplay is the same thing. Make quests for everybody.
3. We need to go back to adding single player content IN ADDITION to multiplayer content, not at the expense of it. We need more stuff like mage tower and brawlers guild less solo shuffle. World content also needs to be more solo player focused. Everything they added in dragonflight has been a giant brainless lag fest that keeps you on the clock. Luckily for me I dont do them, because I dont want anything from them, but people who do farm the cosmetics or just like playing wow solo are not exactly thrilled at least in my circle.
4. Follower dungeons are all well and good for dungeon quests and learning the game etc, but we should find ways to encourage people to group more than giving them options not to. We should have both. We need proper community management. Fighting the toxicity is a whackamole, but not doing it at all is not an option. I am a pvper and I couldnt care less about somebody popping off in my whispers because I screwed up fake cast and got interrupted. But most people get put off by that sort of behaviour.
5. Bring back ALL the unavailable gear. There are quest rewards from vanilla that roleplayers would die for. Also pvp elite sets. All of the 5 people who will get mad they can no longer flex their elite set from MoP, because they couldnt hit 1800 since, should clearly move on anyway. Give us a vicious saddle system for the sets. Once youve obtained the current one, you can start filling the bar for a tokken that lets you buy any of the old ones. While youre at it, pvp REALLY NEEDS HELP. I just want to queue arena or rbg and not know half the players, because there are so few people playing pvp. Lets make it so people dont lose rating until 1k so people can farm the vicious mounts at least. Hell why not make it until 1800 so everybody can get the elite set by just playing and then let the gladiators compete in skill for the top 1% rewards. I dont even care anymore, I just want more people to play with.
6. Yes, more emotes and animations and spell effects for rp. Always good thing! And while we're at it, more customizations. Proper green trolls from the forest troll fans out there. Red skin colours for night elves who want to be druids of the flame. More scar options etc. They can use the resources they saved on cancelling a raid tier with all its sets, new zone, and all the questlines they stopped making in favour of single bland questline for everybody.
I just want wow to not feel like a bad Disney movie anymore.
Guild halls, more timewalking-ish past content, a better toy box, more battle pet stuff. Howabout special cosmetic items and unique rewards for us that have been playing since launch?
I want the Plunderstorm combat mechanics applied to retail WoW. Give me a handful of abilities and make fights rely on skill and proper timing.
I'd prefer they just keep connecting realms instead of merging them. Merging realms will just cause naming headaches. Connecting realms lets more people have that name they really want.
Merging servers is the biggest thing needed to quickly improve player experience. I moved from a low pop server to a high pop server and it's a night and day difference. The world feels populated and alive. Needs to happen sooner rather than later.
Blizzard needs to do one main thing, stop giving up on the current game halfway through. As soon as the "shift to next expansion" starts, the current game suffers horribly.
I was raid logging wotlk icc for about 2 months before deciding to dive into retail. I was blown away by how many different activities there are to do already! As discussed elsewhere on YouTube, the value of a wow subscription has grown quiet a lot in the last few years with the different versions available to play.
This is great for the player, and i hope it remains this way, but i fear asking for more activities, will either diminish other aspects of the game, or blizzard will someday soon announce an increase to the sub fee. The increase then being contentious among players as to whether that'll be on their favourite part of WoW, whatever that is, era, classic+, retail, and within those, raids, dungeons and other activities.
This is why players feel upset when their corner of the game isn't being catered to. If they're not enjoying the full plethora of content their sub fee grants them, then it doesnt hold the same value.
Tldr; be careful what you wish for😂
Can't disagree with creating side-content more. It literally takes players out of the world. Saying creating other games to take players out of Wow just makes zero sense.
More implementation of Addons into the base UI.
Man I miss the emotes in WildStar (heck, I miss WildStar in general). Their emotes were nicely animated and they constantly added more. They even had the /makeitrain which even had actual money animation.
give us more customizability… people like transmog so much so make transmog for your stats just like MOP had.. crafting is a good start where we can add whatever stats we want, give crafting the ability change stats on raid drops to more optimal stats.. and allow those stats to change when we change specs (tier changing is a good start).. give my crafting items "stat 1" and "stat 2" so my haste/mastery spriest can use the same BIS gear as my haste/crit disc.
Gameplay wise, I don't want anything that isn't WoW. I play WoW because I like WoW. I don't play it to play some half-assed version of another game.
Reward wise, I agree with you. Emotes and stances would be cool; I've always disliked how wooden our characters stand by default. I would love to be able to change that.
Housing system is always a clear solution. New system + new rewards. Win/win.
mmos in general havent really evolved much over the years, not just WoW.
i guess player housing would be a big step for wow
7:56 your not joking right the catch up mech is insane there people do’s at the highest level and for some of reason the new player will the low dps and died gets rewarded with the loots.
I'm always down for more character customization. We need a lot more faces. Some races drastically more than others. (Looking at you, Troll Females.) More hairstyles, jewelry and tattoos. And I would be down to earn these in the same way, via a quest, you earn the dark elf, night warrior and man'ari draenei skins. Or make them part of a profession. Hairstyle techniques (and fur tauren, worgen etc.) for skinning/tailoring, jewelry for jewelcrafters (obviously), tattoos for inscription or even leatherworking. Perhaps features that should be more permanent like horns (or faces) for Enchanting so that your appearance can be "enchanted" to look different. And if not a profession we could even gather mats and hand them in to one of the barber shops to unlock certain options. Maybe even "secret" ones like how you get some of the mounts and pets.
I would also love for them to lean into the class and race aesthetics some more in terms of cosmetic armor.
They still need to remove chat restrcitions between factions, that's one super annoying thing, is you can't whisper someone of the other faction unless there on your friends list or actively in your group/guild. There have been so many times when I tried to whisper someone after a dungeon or to recruit before a dungeon or to ask a question in que and nope can't do it, why because Alliance after 20+ years hasn't learned to speak Orkish. So stupid, these details need to get ironed out as well.
