With how the Covenant campaigns are designed, do single character players lose so much story and gameplay?

  1. Thats why i think covenants should be aesthetic only and not tied to borrowed power, soulbinds and conduits. Wouldn't it be great if you could do quests for all covenants and then get also all mounts and all transmogs?

  2. Yes. As one, my army of alts are sitting. I leveled 4, one in each. Each one just for RP purpose, not min-max. I figure if there were two more, I might have cared more to levels others.
MoP had amazing alt stuff. Level one and grind Timeless Isle for more alt stuff? Yes please! My profs worked great for leveling or intro gear? Yes please! Now it's very meh.
Legion had class story and lore so awesome I had to quit because it was taking over my life. I still want to Chromie everyone through it all over again though.
Now, it's very meh. I don't think I'll ever be near the beginning of an expansion again. I enjoyed BFA because I did it after everyone else. It was free. I got to do what I wanted when I wanted.
Now, playing just 9.0 then 9.1 is boring. My Pepsi Max says "All signs point to don't renew and just cancel."

  3. I don’t even care about anything in the game aside from transmog, mythic and raiding, solo play effectively doesn’t exist for me aside from the daily callings. And the only reason I have a sub at all in the game is because I’m on an RP realm and in a guild. That’s the sole reason I’m playing the game at all is not because of the devs, which is sad. If the guild dies then I’m gone.

  4. I hate to put it in this manner but I can't think of another way to say it without my point being lost:

Why does wow even bother with story? Its like its community is heavily focused on the raids to the point they consider everything from the start of an expansion until you get raid access as either filler or just a waste of time because they can't instantly start raiding and I know that there are people who genuinely love the lore of the game but the way its so heavily fragmented people who want story still end up missing out on bits and pieces that build the worlds narrative. I mean if so many people hate the idea of the story progress in game why not go in and tell blizzard not to waste their effort for people who dont care?

  5. So they're failing their single character players and their alt players? I've not started the video so might edit this but damn I'm usually in agreement with bellular and I don't play wow anymore. Apparently blizzard is screwing the alt players and the single character players now. What a sad state for the game to be in.

  6. All they had to do was making all 4 questlines available but make the PC a supporting character in the other covenants. Almost no extra work needed to add a lot of content per character

  7. Without any account wide systems, but you just keep adding more systems you’re not only killing the ability to play multiple characters your killing the game. As is evident right now.

  8. Blizzard need to use the idea's lore being option as a lot of the player base see it as a block to what htey want to do not a little side option to do on down time to world build and the lore more cool, like you have a archivist codex style faction but you bring fragments of memories to show you the battle of ardenweald, so you piece together lore then get to play the experience once they complete a memory. This allows the people who dont care to skip it as they want to anyway and gives option content for those who want the lore to go out and find it and base it across all warcraft not just shadowlands lets see the war of the three hammers or deathwing and Arthas lore, give us something tool the experience for the experience.

  9. That's the whole point, it's to add replayability to the game. But yes Bell nailed the point about Blizz wants us to play more covenants but makes it really irritating to make and play alts, thus making us ask "what's the point?"

  10. If new player wants to experience the whole story in Shadowlands, they need to level 4 characters from 0, complete the Shadowlands campaign 4 times, and then 4 different covenant campaigns that are gated behind character-specific Renown.

Who thought that was a good idea?

  11. Imagine a World of Warcraft where after finishing one covenant campaign, you were free to do the other 3 and earn the right to swap your covenant ability on a whim. That's a world where maybe FF14 has a less successful financial quarter. Imagine getting to see all four sides of the story on one character, developing attachment to the story. Alas, we don't live in that world. We live in a world where we were meant to make a 'meaningful choice'. Ironically the meaningful choice I would make would be to unsub and play ff14. It's not as if Blizzard isn't inundated with feedback telling them what we want, they just seem to outright despise what we want.

  12. I agree that we should be able to help each covenant and be able to see and continue seeing each story without being limited to one. Why are we attached to one covenant? We're helping Shadowlands, which is comprised of all four. Also, our soul binds should be unique to us and not limited to a covenant. They are linked to our souls, right? Not a covenant.

  13. Current Blizz is just shit at anything other than higher end fight design. If you don't play multiple characters AND read books etc you miss most of the story. It might make sense if you do all that, but if you don't it's a complete shitshow.

  14. BFA did that whole gate important content behind reputation grinds thing suggested here for a replacement to covenants. Unless they make reputation grinds interesting/engaging content, then it's just going to feel like artificially extending the playtime. The whole intro to Boralus where Jaina gets sentenced to death is basically tossed aside for ten levels then you have to grind rep before being able to do anything about it.

If they want to tie it to reps, then have the important story quests give a bunch as a result of your character performing great deeds for the covenant so there's no need for an artificial grind (that isn't even established in the story). That way players can feel they've earned their place in that covenant while they come to understand it and its characters.

  15. shadowlands failed because bobby kotick is greedy. simple as that. that man, and by extension all of activision, need be purged from any involvement within blizzard. once that happens, we'll have a quality game to look forward to.
i /almost/ wonder if devs have intentionally tanked their title so kotick is motivated to sell off their IP- – – TO THE MORHAIMS.

  16. I think progression should just be account wide. Rep, currency, (soul ash, yuk) story etc. It would make things so much easier, I've already put the work in on one character… Leveled alt to korthia, glad you get to skip all that killing the jailers eye, really didn't want to have to do the Maw again with the eye.

  17. Proof that Blizzard WoW is a shit game:

Player of gimped class PvE – “I feel like I’m doing everything right but I still do no damage”

Player of gimped class in PvP – “I’m popping every defensive and still getting one shot by Fire Mage Combustion and Ret Paladins”

Answer of delusional WoW Player – “level a different class, that ones not good this expansion”

    ……………
