The thing with the old bosses is the fact that we knew about these guys through the whole story and it seemed more epic to kill one. These new bosses are just expansion features
It would have been cool if during the phases the other aspects were helping. Like phase 1, Kalec joins the fray! Phase 2, Alex empowers the healers during a big boss dmg aoe or something. Etc etc. And maybe more boss mobility? He's a dragon… like… why would he not fly up and burn us to death? Maybe a scaling up flight, similar to that spider boss in the first raid. I loved that fight.
The big issue with Fyrakks fight…. Is Where the HELL is the Shadowflame? He should be like. Oh. First he is fire and stuff. Then as the fight goes on.. he starts to change. Uses more and mroe shadowflame… where he is LITERALLY BURNING… And corruption spreading around. Nope. nothing. Its just him using his axe.. Axe isnt even coated in Shadowflame after he comes back with each transition. Also Fyrakks Dragon form seems… Kinda smal. Compared to what we see when he flies around the zones and kill people. They could have had him sprout tentacles. To be like Void corruption from the shadowflame. Nothing. Just..A boring fight. Oh. Noes. He is trying to burn that tree.. Ok. But where is the FIRE.. The place isnt even BURNING.. THere should be more fire. Last phase should be The SHADOWFLAME.. is Envelopong the area.. And you need to burn him down.. Because when the fire spreads from the edge of the room.. To the center.. The place explodes.. Not.. Just the same as the other phase when he is breathing fire on the tree. All whille the aspects are just… Standing in the back. Doing nothing.
Nothing will come close to the two-part fight against Deathwing in the best expansion WoW ever had. That was an epic endboss fight that deserves the term.
On the aspects during the fyrakk fight: They could have easily snuck in some aspect help into the fight. You get knocked higher up into the air then before, kalec gives you a slowfall so you take less damage. When fyrakk does his big flyby death line, put some sand around him implying nozdormu slowed him down. The shield on the adds you heal make that come from merithra, double their health and have alexstraza put a healing reiceved buff on them. Its not like the titans helping on argus but its better then what feels like everyone standing around doing nothing.
Argus was such a bless back then clearing this on HC was already REALLY funny but Mythic? This Transition Phase where you think "Yeah Aman'thul split him now." but Argus like "NOT THIS TIME!" turns red and just skip the phase by killing the whole raid and create a new secret phase.. but also the whole mechanics from the Titans that help us in their way this whole fight was chefkiss Endwalker Spoiler:
Reminds me of the endboss of Endwalker even if the fight was not rly hard for experienced player (Hades was harder back then tbh) the whole fight itself.. the BGM i mean it was literally a mix of the Ultima, King Thordan, Hades and Shinryu Bosstheme of course you also need a Tank LB3 because Tank LB3 are sick as fuck and then "Oh.. she do it again.. Tank LB3?.. hello? FUUUCK!" and even if it was "Power of Friendship" in the end it was fitting because we are saving the scions before the fight starts from death and now they save us.
No joke.. i was almost unable to play because my hands are shaking the first time^^
I think we need story characters to do more than just give us the quest during a raid. Like for now we got Malfurion back, and what does he do to protect his Emerald dream? He hugs his family after we've done the work. He should be there beating Fyrak with us. Vyrinoth should also be there, maybe she shoots Fyrak out of the sky after the add phase, so there's a reason why fyrak comes back to us and not just flies around the tree to burn it.
I know the eternal "… but in ffxiv" is a little trite, but as far as kino bosses go, my word. The conclusion of the Twelve raid series is a complete masterpiece of callbacks and spectacle.
they wont, Blizzard is too hard up on making the game look like a clusterfrack of a bullet hell game than a readable enjoyable encounter. You can blame the 1% who will just 10,000 addons to trivialize it while telling the rest of the community to "git gud" and "cry moar".
The Aspects would have been nicer if they would have been present in the intermission instead of us caressing Fyrakk's balls. What if the intermission was Fyrakk repeatedly swinging his axe and nearly killing us, one of them swoops in and saves us every time. Alexstrasza could do a flyover of the platform and healy flamey breathe over the entire thing. Vyranoth iceblocks everyone, Nozdormu rewinds time a few seconds so Kalecgos can do magic. Ebyssian puts a massive earthen shield up on the platform. And Merithra puts Fyrakk to sleep for a short damage amp phase.
The final bosses need to be more epic? how about PVP? m+? quests? rewards? etc…..Dragonflight is a complete failure across the board! I honestly think Blizzard is done. Metzen alone is not enough to turn around all that's wrong with the game. There are too many people in charge. There has been so much damage done to every end-game activity that it would need a singular vision/focus and an actual investment of "cash" to put the game right. That not going to happen, is it…
For as easy as Argus on normal and HC, the fight itself was one of the most epic boss fights they've ever made. Hell even DW for as messy as it was, one cannot deny the fighting on the back of him and then fighting a massive amalgamation that towers over all the aspects. For as bad as WoD was, Archimonde was epic as fuck, him casting Rain of Chaos in the final phase bringing down infernals from the sky and being bombarded.
FF14 nails this feeling with many trials. Seat of Sacrifice is still the best trial ever made in the history of FF14 to me, badass scenery, epic build up, god tier song and awesome mechanics.
The best raid bosses are usually well known such as the Lich king, Kil jadaen, sargeras, Illidan, etc. But its also really hard to make a great final boss when 90% of them are now just bosses we learn about during the expac. Deathwing wasnt well known but he was badass but his fight was absolute garbage Dragon soul is actually one of my F tier raids. Garrosh while mop was a meh expac he was great and i think in wod his story was ended well. Blizz has done alot of stories and they still have more but it is very hard to write a shit tone of great dialogue + have these badass final raid fights. Some are gunna be a flop and we just gotta deal with it. Theres only so much stuff blizzard can do to make everyone happy with how it turned out. I mean heck i loved shadowlands im a big fan of the after life things maldraxxus being my favorite zone and i loved torghast (im probably the only insane person to say this) but u cant expect blizzard to hit the head of the nail everytime they make a boss its just how it is.
if you guys enjoy FFXIV so much how come you don't make videos about it anymore? there's been so much content released but you haven't made a XIV video in over a year
Wow hasnt been epic since like cataclysm, excepting maybe the moment in legion when sargeras stabbed azeroth. The aesthetics of the game have become antithetical to the feeling. Wod was honestly the strongest new expansion aesthetically but it failed in every other respect so badly that it gave blizz the wrong idea.
During the Race to World First, I felt gaslighted whenever the Fyrakk fight was praised for telling a story through mechanics like it was a new thing. And it didn't really do it very well – like, he was spreading fire to burn the tree, yet the presumably scorched parts are apparently just healed when he lands after the intermission? Trees don't just heal from burning, right? Maybe we could have used the seeds to graft the tree to sprout limbs or something? Yeah, it's neat design to have the playable space shrink as an enrage mechanic, but the "raging flames" felt more like an "ouch, my feetsies" area than a burned part of the tree.
If you ask me, the first part of Fyrakkq's boss fight should’ve been a dragonflight pursuit – everyone gets a temporarily maxed skill tree and have to knock him onto the platform where we engage him in combat. Then we get a raid wipe like against the Lich King, which is when Alexstraza the Lifebinder does a group revive while Kalec and Ebyssian run interference. Nozdormu gives up random haste buffs to healers and tanks while Merithra cleanses shadow corrupted ground and guards the souls headed towards the world tree. Vyranoth eventually joins the fight and theres stages where she interrupts and literally holds Fyrkka still as a +damage phase.
How to make Fyrakk more epic without increasing the difficulty:
First of all USE the Dragons. Fyrakk approaches the heart, and Alexstraza swoops down. "You shall not pass!!" moment. He uses Fyr'alth on her and wounds her. The blackwing swoop in as he is going to land the Coup da Grace. And shield her Wrathion blasts at him forcing Fyrakka back. "Grrr. Little whelp I will make your end quick." "Good, I tire of your mindless rambling. At least the Old Gods were conversational."
Abyssian and Sabellian grab Alexstrasza "At ease, we have you my queen." Sabellian says. Abyssian transforms and carries Alexstrasza away. "Champions, the other Aspects are on their way. Help us hold him off till they get here." Wrathion says as Wrathion and Sabellian take battle stances.
Phase one: happens as it does, but Aflame dot can be Line of sighted. Using boulders that Wrathion and Sabellian conjure throughout the phase. You still have to place the fire circles, cleanse or LOS Aflame, and avoid the big aoe.
Intermission: You get knocked up. Fyrakka yells. "I control the Shadowflame, and you will all burn!" You get knocked up as he yells this about to fall to the ground where shadowflame has covered the ground.
"I got you champions. Vyranoth I need your help!" Kalecgos cries. As the raid get slow falled. Vyranoth swoops in and breaths ice over the ground putting out the shadowflame. Wrathion and Sabellian breathe on the ground after she does and the ice breaks away leaving the ground safe to be traversed on.
"I will have this Tree's heart!" Fyrakk roars as he starts to breathe onto the heart of Amirdrassil. Intermission begins as normal. DPS, stop orbs from combing back to Fyrakk that come from his breath fly up and down and then come back to him. You stop him like normal, and Phase 2 begins.
Phase 2: Merithra swoops in. "Champions Amidrassil is wounded. I can heal it but I need your aid! Spirits of the Kaldorei Rise! For your loved ones take to the tree and heal it. "Champions protect and heal the spirits to aid Amirdrassil!"
Phase 2 happens just as is.
Phase three starts. Wrathion, Sabellian, and Abyssian encase Fyrakk in stone. Kalecgos erects an arcane bubble over it. Vyranoth surrounds this in a ice dome.
Fyrakk: "Grrr. Enough!" he shatters all of the barriers, knocking the raid up and we land into Phase 3:
Alexstrasza can be seen on the outside of the fight. "Champions you must stop Fyrakk!"
Phase 3 begins. Before Apocalyptic roar. we all hear. "Stand together." from some soft anonymous female voice. Seeds fall down, and you continue with Phase 3.
Once Fyrakk is dead.
"No, this can not be. I am Fire, I am flame. I am shadowflame incarnate. I . will… " Fyrakk yells into stumbling and drops to his knees. Looking to Vyranoth as all the Aspects walk into frame wounded. "How could you?" And the falls over dead, as the light of his flame fades.
Alexstrasza leaps onto the platform. She casts a spell, and you see flowers and what not grow under the Aspects and they seem to heal up. Looking down at Fyrakk. "I'm sorry Vyranoth, but he left us no other choice." Alexstrasza says to her.
"No, the brother I knew died long ago. A monster is what rose from the Zaraleck Caverns."
"We stopped him, but how?" Kalecgos ask as the Aspects look to one another.
Suddenly there is a burst of light from Amirdrassil's heart. you see all of the Aspects get knocked back as they do, and the camera pans around to all of them. The it zooms in on Alexstrasza's eyes. "Here Me." That same voice can be heard.
Alexstrasza's eyes open and they now glow with new Aspectual Power.

They need to take lessons from XIV.
p8s p2, p12s p2 moment
Well maybe a collect rings thingy, like flightschool or anima umbrella in SL, to get a def or off buff would have been the least Iexpected.
I honestly found Hogger more of an interesting villain than the Jailer, Zovaal just felt like rushed content, and he was!
Argus, for me, had the most epic reveal, the most menacing. However, for me, was Deathwing!
Nothing will come close to the two-part fight against Deathwing in the best expansion WoW ever had.
That was an epic endboss fight that deserves the term.
Fights like Killzone (2005) with Donnie Yen

Fyraaks laugh is great if you die to him
The Jailor was menacing. Everything about Dragonflight just screams "Intermission Expansion".

I actually wonder if Bell ever did do savage raids.

My guild spent almost an entire night wiping on Tindral. Then we 3 pulled Frakk, AOTC on a platter!
The Aspects would have been nicer if they would have been present in the intermission instead of us caressing Fyrakk's balls. Razageth had a better feel than any of the other bosses in the entire expansion

I have no faith in blizzard to do much of anything . I’m surprised when they don’t suck
"where is the metal?" bruh, this is THE question

No we need more fairy final bosses who will tell us about how they feel instead of some iron will orc warlords for example

This has become an Angry Joe wow channel
"Unseasoned chicken breast" is a great description of this end of raid/ end of expansion boss
dragonflight the expact where dradon did nothing …
