With the massive rework to Ignite, Fire Mage seems to be in a dire spot moving into Shadowlands. While the spec retains some of the strong damage during Combustion, it has lost a lot of its potential from BFA.

Sad day, i love fire mage. But also love frost though lol.
I played a fire mage in BFA and really enjoyed it. I know frost mage is performing well on the beta but the rotation seems so boring. I'm leaning towards switching to melee DPS for the first time and have been loving Frost DK the last 2 weeks.
Well according to the video fire have same damage like tank and healer outside of combustion wtf I would love to continue playing mage but frost is just boring af I will have to change mains 🙁

Why did they have to stuff it up. It had a nice flowing rotation, been using it on ptr and its really disjointed now. Put it back to the way it was blizzard. They even nerfed living bomd so you cant spread aoe that way either.
Tbh using video where you're constantly moving away from your RoP even during combustion makes me doubt I can trust your assessment.
towards the end of the video, on that last boss fight, u did a 16 second combust with lust and peaked… almost 8k dps. its so undertuned its ridiculous. Combustion was like top 3 strongest offensive CDs in bfa and now, frost can do more with just frozen orb/ice lances
You should watch Venruki’s latest video on fire mage pvp and rethink some things you said
recent shadowlands legendary tuning severly destroyed fire viability in both pve and pvp, instead off buffing the mediocre legendarys they do 300% nerfs on the viable legendarys kek
Give fire mages some love!!! Please! Fire mage has been the most fun for pvp since cata or something !
In my opinion fire mage is still very very good, I’m a frost main but I use fire for PvP and it’s been insane on ptr dummies compared to frost and arcane.
All these fire mages complaining about the 'new' ignite changes. The old combustion was a make or break spell and it was also manually spread.
Build your ignite, combust, then spread the combust; and hope you did it right or your DPS tanked.
Pheonix flames feels awful to use, it's so clunky in combustion now. They took it way to o far when corruption was the main problem… created another problem off their own creation, as per usual.
Few things they could do is either make it always crit, or remove it from the GCD like fireblast but take the damage component away so it 's purely for spreading and doesn't interact with hotstreaks etc. Either option would smooth out the clunkiness they have created.
Fire mage is supposed to feel fast in that short burst window, not like like driving a lambo down the street with square wheels.
