Gear up your alts BEFORE Shadowlands

Read more about Shadowlands ➜ https://worldofwarcraft.mgn.tv

You should gear up your alts before Shadowlands drops, right now in BfA 8.3 and in the pre-patch when it becomes available. The reasons are rather obvious and all revolve around how the questing loot is obtained in Shadowlands and the item levels of gear you’ll be receiving.

Long story short – it’s much easier to get a decent ilevel gear right now, before Shadowlands, to make your solo questing less stressful and a lot more enjoyable in the next expansion.

  1. Thanks for this video! I like the idea of more challenging leveling experience but also appreciate the heads up so I can prepare appropriately! I think prepping is part of the fun with hard content. Time for me to spend a bit more time on my alts’ gear.

  2. There is a vendor in pre-patch event that sells item lv 100 gear (445 current) the gear is 15 "badges" each you get the badges from doing the dailys and from a repeatable turn in quest from items you get from rares

  3. I've played every expansion and as a rule of thumb you replace your top end raiding gear about half way though levelling. The pre-expansion event gear is usually really easy to get and will last nearly as long. Before that there was the penultimate major patch catch-up gear which was also pretty easy to get but not quite as strong.

  4. Most mains and main alts should be good at this point gear wise, which is why I’m guessing they upped the difficulty, although it sucks for new players. It’s those fresh alts that will have a bumpy ride if under geared at the start. Personally I’m really hoping to gear one or two more alts via the wrath of the Lich king pre-expansion event which should drop level 100 gear. I can’t bear the thought of running BFA content at this point.

  5. I will do some casual gear preparation for my main and main alt (e.g. the pre-patch gear) but the rest will follow what ever they have at the moment. When those are leveled it does not matter if the first levels takes a litte bit more time.

  6. Good message. I'm 477 in BFA right now (130 in SL) and questing was still quite challenging as incoming damage is WAY higher than BFA due to no azerite traits providing shields and regens passively. As a ret paladin my damage at 130 ilvl blows things up, but again, the incoming damage requires a lot of heals.

  7. I dont think this is entirely an accurate idea. Yes you're correct roughly ilvl 100 is the intended power lvl to enter shadowlands to where its not easy. But there's no need to gear up now. The scourge event is going to drop ilvl 100 gear. Basically you can just gear all your alts with that. With the delay I imagine we will have plenty of time to do the event.

  8. great video btw. I personally wouldnt want to invest so much time for gear that would probably only be useful for the 1st 5 or 6 hours into SL at most. If its easy gear along the way sure but the reality most will be a level cap easily in 2 or 3 days in which non of that gear will matter.

  9. All I can say is this… I have too many alts. I think my favorite toon is at 425-430, but most are at 400-410 (TW geared). In the past I’ve blown through content being fully raid geared. I guess your video has shown me my leveling will be challenging at my levels.

    Aerie Peak – 12
    Area 52 – 12
    Moonguard – 12
    Ravenholdt – 1
    Wyrmrest Accord – 1

P.S. Most of the alts are used just for xmog runs each week.

  10. I agree with making things more challenging. I don't agree that it should be because gear just doesn't drop for a long time. That feels less like a decision and more like an overlooked mistake.

  11. Ion's warcraft is about hardcore raiders. Casual and pvp'ers can #%*^ off, is the basic message. You can find this vision surfacing in minor things like you are discussing in your video.
