He didn't "require" 2 fights, blizzard decided to make 2 of the worst fights ever for pretty much no reason and they ended up being so poorly made its widely regarded as the worst raid ever.
I loved this fight when I was younger! I really like the idea of bosses so large that they take multiple encounters. Gives me ideas for bosses that are their entire raid/dungeon/zone!
Unfortunately the fight was really bad. Both of them.
Spine of Deathwing required lots of coordination, burst damage and lots of healing/fire resistance. That comes alongside the barrelroll mechanic where Deathwing could just wipe the raid if no one gave that one any consideration.
And the last deathwing fight was nothing more but a glorified 'Kill 5 of those'-killquest before it was done.
FIRST, also we need another deathwing scale boss because killing big things makes men happy
Spine was soooo damn annoying 😂😂😂
Though, he did fly around outside in the world burning everything, you get an achievement for dying to it.

N‘zoth in nyalotha has also to boss fights first carapace then n‘zoth himself
Spine was the most fun I've had as a raider.

Playing classic Cata now. IMO great expansion. I also really liked mop and looking forward to that coming next.
