Another funfact regarding playable races. Initially the Pandaren were to be added as playable race for the alliance instead of the Draenei for TBC, but China got between those plans.
Why? Because China literally owns the pandas and basically wanted to 'approve' Blizzards usage of their symbol and national animal. If Blizz didnt follow their regulations and got it approved WoW might have been banned in China.
Due to that difficult situation that went on too long Blizz postponed the release of the Pandaren and decided to retcon the Draenei and made them playable instead
I remember during BC release mmo champ had so many speculations on new races. Ogres and goblins being some of the favorites for horde. Blood elves worked though.
Blizzard also had trouble with creating a female model.
I really want Ogres playable.

I would have so rocked an Ogre. Ogres, Tuskarr, and Tortollans are three races I would love to see as playable someday.

Playable ogres would be ten times cooler than trolls.
Could be an allied race and just use the kul tiran skeleton and animations
