It should not be a surprise that Shadowlands had failed, the question most people should ask is why is World of Warcraft having such a BAD time the last few years.

Come back to visit this after you've finished shadowbringers and endwalker. I mean it's all opinion based, but I prefer Ishikawa over Kojima because she doesn't need to get convoluted to tell good stories. Sometimes it feels like Kojima seems to equate convoluted to mean it's good. At least imo.
A few years ago my mom went to a restaurant called Bambooburger here in PR. I asked her how was it and she said she didn't liked the steak.
I think the WoW community have a problem that is that they are expecting a good stake from a burger restaurant. Blizzard won't make good story because thats not what they wanna do. They only need to do a barely serviceable story. They only care about the raiders, the competitive ones at that, everyone else is just fodder to be fed to the god emperor.
Ive been playin ffxiv since 2.0. I love my fem roe the moment Square takes me for granted I'm out. Nostalgia be damned. The moment I stop having fun, I'm done. WoW players should have more self respect and stop giving money to a company that clearly doesn't care about you.
If the WOW writers actually want Warcraft to survive they should definitely listen to this guy.
Accolonn, you sweet sweet summer child… You are not ready for Shadowbringer… even more for Endwalker. puts on 'this is probably not gonna age well'/'he will take this back later' list
Ishikawa not the best writer from someone who hasn't played ShB or Endwalker…..hmmm seems sus to me.
Like Cloud and Sephiroth
That's not entirely true.
We "all" rallied behind the Jailer. We hoped he'd win.
His character is trash, but, we still had hoped he'd win.
….. probably not because of good story writing though 😀
I don't think hideo Kojima have the time to work, be a good husband, reading books, play few games and grinding/farming gear Shadowlands in order to do a good DPS,tanking or healing. But at least he can see Shadowlands story on YouTube. At least he can learn what not to do for his next game
Oohh… The poor Coyote… How many times have i wished to succeed and, finally, catch the damn Road Runner…!
LOL Acco …. Hideo, the God. I think you have to play more games man. Hideo though arguably great was not even close to being the best.
If their FPS’s then no I’ve never played them. But once you mentioned metal gear solid knew what you were talking about. As even I have heard things about those games stories.
I hear a lot about Shadowlands' story (I do not play WoW) and the thing I heard the most about Shadowlands was that they were trying to stop the Jailer from rewriting the rules of reality. Except I did not hear from anyone WHY he wants to do that. And having finished FFXIV Endwalker, THAT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW.
There is a not-insignificant chance that they mention his reasons in a book somewhere, but what about the people who do not want to spend hundreds of dollars to buy several books?
Accolonn: …"when i say words dark knight"…
Me: (my first reaction) I hate living dead …
I forget their names, but the writers who came up with Sephiroth knew exactly how to get the job done. Sephiroth, as a villain, is life. The hands behind FFVII should be holding medals.
The only villains WoW have who really are interesting are the ones they tried to erase from the game. Like Garrosh or Arthas, what they did to Garrosh in SL was erase him, like they forgot the monster he were, and that's why he still ended in a badass way in SL, he had more depth than the Jailer.
warcraft story writing reminds me of how soap operas does, where they kill off main characters, then their ratings starts going into decline, so they bring them back, and they'll keep killing off characters like 5 times, this is where warcraft is heading, one of these days they'll bring back garrosh, or arthas, or deathwing
hidetaka miyazaki, git gud.
Accolon haven't met the best villain(s) so far in FFXIV, maybe he changes his opinion about Ishikawa in the future. 😉
If Kojima was still writing at the same level as he was in MGS2, I'd agree. He's seemed to get more convoluted with time and think that if it's harder to understand it's better writing.
Ishikawa will be complex and difficult to understand at first, but she always explains it in the story and that explanation always comes with a gut punch lol
better than ishikawa? Hehe, let us all wait silently
Kojima may be an overrated hack who's best work is behind him, but he has point here.
Bruh Death Stranding proved that Kojima needs some handcuffs in order to make something even worth it's salt.
Ishikawa > Kojima ALL DAY AND NIGHT.
Asian storytelling is blowing the west’s out the water at the moment . They know how to do shades of grey really well.
Yeah, Villains these days are just straw men to stand in for whatever issue the writers and producers are against for their heroes (mostly Mary Sues) to knock down with ease. We need to give our villains their balls back.
The Primals have a ton of personality! You can’t watch one of their performances without their personality shining through
As far as the story goes, everything wrong with Shadowland is everything.
Ishikawa just pulled Israel Palestine conflict story into Shadowbringer and nobody notices.
That’s how good she is. 😂
Regardless how you might feel about Kojima and his story telling, what he says isn’t wrong.
The best example of what he’s saying is Onepunch Man. Saintama by himself would make the story very boring, but it’s the interesting villains and side characters that make the anime/manga so good.
A powerful hero by themselves dint make a story fun or interesting.
really wish you'd stop using definitive language when speaking about FFXIV. "In your experience so far" Hideo Kojima is better. Maybe your opinion won't change after Endwalker, but preemptively deciding Kojima's work is better, comes across poorly.
