Just a few days ago the brand new Jailer’s death cinematic was released which essentially confirmed the end of Shadowlands. We all really had high hopes for this entire thing but it really ended up as quite a disaster that didn’t explain anything, the story barely made sense and overall Shadowlands really was just a bad dream.

  1. Meh…with all the issues with this new zone, terrible ending and overall boredom of new zone-regrind-get rid of what you worked so hard for in the previous chapter since this is new, and repeat, I think I'm done till the prepatch of the new expansion comes.

  2. The moment they started add spaceships in the game, it started lose its perosnality. There just isn't any difference between a random game with crazy spaceships, alien worlds and stuff like that and WoW, there is nothing wrong with it but simple dosen't have anything special than others games in the genre(storywise).

  3. Definitely one of the worst narrative fuck ups I've ever seen. It seems like everything that has happened has been pure spectacle, none of it has meaning, none of it even means anything. Just trite bullshit. And holy fck the Jailer was literally the worst villain ever created, even worse than shitty 80's villains.

  4. I don’t think we need to have a enemy that’s “worse” than the jailer but let us as players be the defenders of Azeroth and we fight its threats that attack it. Every couple of expansions go to a different realm but going to a literal heaven and hell concept completely ruined the story for me, maybe it’s me but I would much prefer general updates and quests to neglected zones on Azeroth. Low-key I don’t give a fudge about the first ones or stuff like that but I do care about the longevity of this game!

  5. My biggest problem with the lore was with Sylvanas. She needed to die.

They turned her character into a ruthless leader that did one atrocious thing after another. Then Blizzard introduced that souls can be split in 2 and Sylvanas got a pass because the evil part of her soul was controlling her. That let the air out of the balloon for me.

The soul splitting was never part of WOTLK lore. Arthas just killed you and fed Frostmourne. Why did they have to mess it up?

  6. It really is disappointing to see all those years of lore wasted, wow always had major plot holes but despite that, it was still fun story overall to follow but since release of MOP it has been just getting worse and worse to the point where we are now, where people actually feel bad or regret getting into wow lore at all(why would you ever want to touch a wow book again when you know that all of those stories can be retconed the other day). Also, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that they not only managed to move current lore into a dump but somehow managed to ruin even the old, well received and loved stories.

  7. Unfortunately I think wow has gone to the pay to get the cosmetic / mount win. The devs don't care about anything but money at this point. Until enough people unsub and stop buying from the blizzard store the game will continue to decline. Just my opinion though.

  8. WoW has become like that one child that always gets into trouble and arrested, and after a long time you just do not care anymore and let the bastard go to jail.

  9. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt until these end cinematics… I now have lost any small amount of faith I had in this team for the next expansion. The community AT EVERY TURN has come up with more interesting lore and story and WE AREN'T PROFESSIONAL WRITERS!!!!! Horrible, just horrible.

  10. My intrest droped after wotlk. Warcrafts original story was done at this point. Thats why I quit before cata. Just got back into wow mid bfa. I really enjoy all the new features like transmog 😬
Transmog alone made me play thousands of hours since than. The game is ok to me (typical solo player… didnt raid since ICC 25HC times, apart from classic…).
I was so happy to see my boy again. And after waiting for him all this time in Shadowlands he turned out to be an orb 👀🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  11. Danuser diddnt liked to write Metzens stuff as he said himself. So he "finally" got rid of that old burden. He can write now a complete new story. Anyways i dont think it will find much love due to how this Copiumhead ripped off the legacy of Warcraft, basically killing the IP and failing alot of fans.

  12. It’s crazy to think that in BFA we had lots of cinematics and we had the big rendered cinematic each patch. Now we have nothing. I thought it was the new standard and I was so down for it but no..

  13. I miss MOP lore. New continent rich with history going back to war of the ancients, new revelations of Titan history on the planet, intercontinent conflict with pandaren, mogu, and mantid. The sha, probably one of the most pure evil enemies in wow’s existence. With a prideful and bloodthirsty warchief that tried to harness that power to restore the orcish horde. And now we have this…

  14. We saw the ending of BFA with the copycat of the ending of the lord of the rings movie, we couldnt expect much more. Even when they announced shadowlands it was the expansion i was less invested on. Blizzard is out of Touch with their game on so many levels, and the treatment of Arthas was the biggest fuck you to the playerbase.

  15. Well.. The lore is pretty much destroyed after legion. They should just continue it by having to another plane to face the void Lord, the origin of the old gods and what sargeras really feared but instead they went to a whole new retcons.

  16. i think people have gotten spoiled over the years by blizzard cinematics and story in general, so their expectations are higher after each one, i liked shadowlands and the story and the cinematics, and the jailer was like a demigod in the wow universe, there was bound to be a bigger picture, idk why people so butthurt by it.

  17. Imo, shadowlands is not that bad. This ending is above underwhelming, as is the xpac since 9.1, but I mean, it's ok. This was a meh step in my warcraft experience but shit happens. People have to take their head out of the memories of them as child playing warcraft 3, seriously. And try to make the difference between how weak shadowlands storytelling was in itself, and how it made some bad moves with past lore. And the arthas treatement, as sad and unfair it was, was a clear message from the devs saying "alright, warcraft 3 and WoTLK were glorious, we get it, but it is not something we want or are gonna go back to". They just should have brought this to a way better quality xpac though.

I am not ok with with the sylvannas treatement, the arthas one, how bad of a vilain was the jailer was writed with MY hard earned money, but I don't know why they messed up and I din't care. I've gathered enough from this expansion, from useless toys to good memories, and I am ready to jump to a new one, which will be better I am sure of it. They got over their head with this story, even more with the limited ressources due to covid and all, and they got it bad.

So obviously if this get A habit, Ill stop giving money to this shit ass company but if shadowlands is just what it is, an unfortunate rushed product, it's ok.
Look at yourself and tell me you never rushed or didn t take good care of your work once. People give you money too unless you like to work for free eh ?

And if you really played wow since WoTLK and are still disapointed at each xpac and still hoped for some throwback to this era, I am sorry to say that you d better invest your money in a time machine to go back to when you were 12yo. It ll be more probable and less masochistic

  18. These videos are important so blizzard understands why and where they fucked up.

This is just like Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. You can't mess with lore and expect fans who've dedicated time reading books, playing hundreds of hours of gaming lore, watched dozens of videos discussing philosophical and political themes of a story; to NOT be upset at the abandoned plot ideas and AD HAWK responses and most importantly RETCONNING previously established ideas. Part of me truly worries the current writing team hasn't read these "extra" things nor have played wc1-3

  19. You sort of knew something was off when they DIDN'T make Denathrius the main villain of the expansion. I mean… he's the guy who created the Dread Lords. He's the one who would've made the most sense in the grand cosmic scheme of things.

  20. They somehow have to make a clean cut. Start fresh with something completely different.

Btw, anyone got an idea when we will see Microsofts influence in the game? maybe 11.0?

  21. To give Blizz some small benefit of the doubt, they have had 25+ years of their own convoluted lore to parse through and stay consistent with while also being told to continue making compelling and interesting stories years and years later. After legion, we don't really have any new threats so they had to make one up and it flopped. I don't doubt they have learned from it. But it doesn't remove the fact that previous lore like WC3 is still what it is. I think they saying this is the "end of a saga" because they want to be able to tell stories about villains without having to tie them into years and years of previous stories and lore tidbits.
