The test for anything is would you do it if there was zero reward, if the answer is yes then it is fun.
It's literally so simple, just make every class have stronger abilities
It was never fun!
Endless Torghast with save points, which reset once your char physically leaves the instance. Random reward boxes based on how far u got, with mog, pets, goldbonuses, mounts, Torghast specific consumables, toys, even Honor/Conquest/Valor/rep or currency tokens for older expansions, maybe those in the form of a choose 1/3 with gold alternatives. Maybe 1/1000000chance for bnet balance or character services, whatever. There is sooo much they could do to make it interesting/rewarding. Let us go nuts with powers & rewards will be a nice bonus with a chance of the "jackpot", whatever that means to any player.
One of the big issues for me is with the reward structure.
Firstly: soul ash is mandatory and exclusive to Torghast. This means that even if you donβt like it, you have to do it. Contrast this with βthe big threeβ of raids, m+, and pvp… if you donβt like one of those systems, you can still gear up through the one(s) you do like. Because everyone NEEDS soul ash, they had to nerf it into the ground so that the worst mouth breather can pass it weekly. Itβs like a world quest, you canβt really fail.
Secondly: ONLY soul ash. The big three all reward gear, Torghast doesnβt, meaning it feels like a less valuable way to spend your time. If I have to choose between doing a m+ or raid and Torghast (after I have my bis lego), I will do anything rather than more Torghast because there is a chance at better gear. Since Torghast only gives soul ash, if I donβt need that, itβs pointless.
Lastly: lack of granularity in rewards (this is being partially fixed in 9.1). Since Torghast is either a βyou win or you get nothingβ system, they canβt make it too difficult. There are also not nearly enough layers to give the scaling difficulty needed to challenge the top players. Contrast this with m+: a new capped player can get a challenge and appropriate rewards from a +2-5, while a god-tier player can run a +23 in the same system…. why does Torghast cap out at only 8?
My suggestions: 1) give an unlimited later count, let it scale to however high people can push it. 2) put soul ash in the big three rewards, if I only want to pvp, let me pvp for my ash. 3) put item rewards into Torghast (at the end and in the vault) similar to m+, make it worth my time if I donβt need ash.
Let me play with other covenants abilities in torghast. Some of the anima powers for specific covenant abilities look like a tom of fun but no way in hell am i swapping covenants for torghast
