Sylvanas is about as grey as Hitler except where he attempted a genocide, she managed to follow it through. Also Blizzard lying? Color me grey with shock.
Emet-Selch is a more morally gray character than Sylvanas ever was. Blizzard was copying their homework from FFXIV.
Ye lawyers excel @ lies
Man this is the vídeo! Thanks
"Im not gonna c_m inside you… OPPS!!!" May be the greatest sentence I have I ever heard describing WOW, EVER!! Bravo sir Bravo /Golf clap
Now I’m going to straight up admit I’ve never played WoW or any Warcraft games and that part of my confusion with this topic is partly because of that since I’ve been learning about WoW since the big flood of “WoW refugees” into FF14 awhile back…
But I’m concluding that he simply forgot that he’d told the players that Sylvanas would never submit for judgement and punishment. And that’s bad enough because it’s easy to ensure that one doesn’t make such a mistake but somehow it’s even worse because it not only strikes me as a bit forgetful or disorganised but actually incompetent.
Even if he forgot or lost the notes regarding what lore he’s revealed to players, fans and curious players he should at least know that Sylvanas wouldn’t accept judgment and punishment easily because it’s part of her character, her personality and values.
Unfortunately I’m being serious when I say that if I had the kind of control and decision making as him, at this point I’d do a better job of it. I do write my own stories as well as the odd foray into fanfic, and I used to be a Game Master (GM) back in the days when written RPGs were popular on various old message board forums.
It was important during the RPGs on the forums to have details such as the location, setting, culture, politics, factions as well as a clear outline of how something worked if it’s not present in the real world here on Earth. Say for example the GM would have to come up with and explain the basics of how magic worked and some of the limitations. Or say that in a sci fi game, how the way spacecraft travelled faster than light. Warp drive? Hyperspace jumping? Ect.
So, what I would do is create a separate “about the RPG” file for the players to read and as a place where they can put it their character biographies. I’d put my own character biographies there myself. But of course I’d have a separate “GM’s Microsoft Word document where I kept the lore, mysteries and other details that the player characters might eventually uncover. The “GM Document” also contained my private biographies for side characters or enemies as well as general plot lines, secret events ect.
And I’d absolutely need everything recorded in my GM document since a single story arc could take weeks or months to complete. But I also found myself using a different version for the stories that I wrote as well as fanfic.
It turned out that creating character biographies and recording notes on how things are or aren’t progressing is often very useful. For example, designing my Warrior of Light biography. It’s a problem that I run into when the Devs give the player a total blank state. Like in FF14 sure you arrive in Eorzea, ready to start out adventurii
It is even worse then lying. He just ddoesnt has any clue… and that is really embarrasing and shameful for a company.
ugh, this is going to make me seem like a wow apologist, but I do have to point out that yes. The Banshee would not of submitted, would not of let her self be put in prison.
But I do recognized that with her reunification they did destroy the Sylvannas that we had come to know.
You know he's serious when there is a language warning. Let it out king.
I had the exact same reaction reading these….. fuckin hell , it's like they do it on purpose at this point.
know whats funny? i saw you started stormblood, there you are going to find not one but two good female villans with morally grey stories in just one expansion.
What a weaselly liar, dude.
Said it before i'll say it again, Ion Hazzikostas could tell me the sky is Blue and i'd still look out a window to check.
Also the fact that he thinks Genocide is "Morally Gray" is honestly terrifying and he may need therapy
Forcing my self to quit at the end of TBC vanilla was the right choice then and still is now
I have 0 love for Ian and he has lied before, but we should keep in mind that the story of the Shadowlands and Sylvanas were probably changed by a lot and rushed during the game's life-cycle. So at the time of Blizzcon maybe Ian was telling the truth because that was the story to be told or maybe Ian was the one lied to by the writing team and Danuser.
All that said as the lead game dev and FACE of the game Ian should make sure he knows everything going on and he should plan for occasions like these. Also as the lead game dev and representative of the game's development teams he should talk about the story as little as possible just for cases like these. Better to say "I guess you will have to wait and see what happens" rather than making bold statements.
I needed to hear this rant! You perfectly summed up this dumpster fire of a story. They assassinated Sylvanas’ character
I thought Sylvanas wasn't in love with Nathanos and was just using him…
Can't remember exactly when I got that idea, though…
She's "morally grey" because she had what SHE thought was a good reason for doing what she did.
Killing people kinda makes sense when you are an undead who is trying to "free" us from the "prison". Because death is just another form of existence.
Where was this rage during the Sylvanas soul split cinematic! There was NO merge. The Sylvanas we knew is dead and a 20 year lie. The true Sylvanas is this "Ranger General".
Jfc, first
split personalityretconned Sylvanas THEN 35 anima Arthas. The Shadowlands is a N'Zoth vision. I'll watch this dumpster fire from Eorzea, thank you.
Keep playing through the FFXIV msq. If you are in Stormblood, very soon you will meet the true definition of what a morally gray character is and like the rest of us you will hate him at first and fall in love him soon after.
This is the aco i subbed to.
Say what needs to be said, how it needs to be said. There’s a well-known bald man who has recently taken a neutral, “who cares” approach to everything lame in gaming nowadays; that is the very complacency that has allowed WOW to kill itself.
It’s refreshing to hear realism.
