with dragonflight recieving alot of praise for what it’s done right I found myself looking around and thinking… Is this MMO just not made for me anymore?
Today, we’re taking a more personal approach to the state of World of Warcraft and discuss why I think this game just isn’t for the players like me anymore.
The next video will be back to our regularly sceduled broadcast! I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 days off work but it’s time to crack on and get back to work! I appreciate you all and lets go into 2023 with some consistance and quality!

Hey whatup boooyyyyyzzzzzzz… Tbh bliz lost me 15 years ago. So you know, 3 expansions… lol whatever man.
Answer: when we were running raids in BC, even wotlk killed it for me because of the way the first dungeon was tank and spank
… gear progression was crucked. As a mana battery it made my life pointless. So I went and played other games until BDO came out. Then they fucked that up. Now I play OSRS sometimes, that's about it. All MMOs are shit casualised crap. If I want to forget to sleep eat and shower that's on me… Your game is good. Making it easy just means that I won't be able to keep up. People always talk about "but I have a job" yeah so? I had a job during raiding vanilla and BC. That didn't matter, I was able to keep up because the game was hard. The noobs could play all day and still be years behind me… I dunno. MMOs will always be fkd because they want lil Timmy to spend mummy and daddys credit cards on pay to win shit via FOMO and other manipulative tactics. The games will never be good again. I know I know AoC, but we will see, money does funny things. Even if it starts well and runs well for years. One day it will go all blizzard.
Man… I miss the hype me and my friends had back in the day for BC
I am certainly interested to see what Ashes can do to revive the MMO genre. That said I am also a happy casual in the WOW community. I enjoy coming back to my years old characters and collections and seeing what new adventures they can find in a new expac. While I agree with most of your points… I don't know what to do about it at this point XD
Dragonflight is a very fun expansion…. One of the best… Super alt friendly…. The professions are so much better… PvP is great, love dragon flying … I feel like you just haven't actually played the game.
i wonder if you know as "much" about the rest of DF as you know about war mode and world pvp in current retail wow.
the simple fact that storm invasion bosses in war mode can tag to either faction has lead to big world pvp battles to wipe the others before they kill the boss, then reset it and claim it FOR THE HORDE. the war supplies, as another example, sometimes spark 20v20 open world battles. the pvp world quests are another spark for world pvp. play war mode, actually engage in world pvp and then you can talk and maybe be ballsy enough to apologise for false info.
This expansion has def made me feel like I am going crazy. Like all of a sudden, everyone believes the world is flat, and I am being called a psycho round earther lol. All my friends love the expansion, YouTubers love this expansion, and I am sitting here wondering why? The story is still boring, the questing far too easy, the core class rotation/gameplay unchanged, and the gameplay loop still consists of me mindlessly moving from one quest marker to another. The only thing that seemed to change is the speed at which you can clear all the content and I think that is a terrible direction.
whats going on with discord in the background there buddy
Dragonflight is a really good expansion, with the only things that are dragging it down is the design of the main baddies so far (looking like rare mobs and not raid bosses or reused epic mobs) . I also have the subjective feeling of it feeling like a giant pre patch or patch and not given me an expansion feeling. But that's subjective.
Dragonflight have improved in every aspect, it feels like a world that's alive and respect our time. It's great that we reach max lvl fast , some cases before we are even done with the main quest! It let's you decide what you want to do. Do you just wanna pvp? Go ahead! Dungeons? Enjoy! Story or rep grind? Keep on questing king ! It let's you finally decide what YOU want to do.
Let's not even get into how great the proffesion revamp is! Dragonflying is really good, could it be better? Absolutely, but it does its job really well ! Also let's remind ourselves that blizzard finally let us fly at the start and designed the zones around it!
M+ seasons now using old Dungeons in their rotations? AMAZING !
There is so much that I haven't touched on, but this is some really good steps blizz has taken !
As for the world being dead: I partially agree, I think this has to do with the shards and it being used on a zone that is way bigger than its used to, so we get the usual number and not the double. But the time I see alot of people are world bosses or hunts
one of wows biggest issues is that shift in goal, it doesnt feel like working together with a group of mates to overcome a encounter, the goal more or less feels to be heavily focused on selfish min maxing. I remember back in Cata, we felt excited to kill a raid boss, the gear came second to that.. these days in retail its very much the opposite. I think a part of it is because of how easily groups can be formed and there is a lesser importance to be in a guild.
news flash
Thinly veiled boomer vibes.
I feel like Pandaria was the start of the "watering down". As frustrating as experiencing content was in the early days (as a less than full time player) it was the struggle that made it rewarding. These days everything is on tap with very little investment required, dungeons are time trials and professions are obsolete. Now Mythic+ is the band-aid for accelerated progression but I'm not interested in running an instance over and over and over, I'd rather struggle to get through (like Karazhan) and then be pumped to figure out another boss. Speaking of which, what was wrong with 10man raids???
Video is full of cope
Though dragonflight is objectively an improvement in most areas compared to where we were in BFA and SL, in the end its still the same treadmill that gets reset every 6 months. The game has gotten too much of a gotta go fast attitude, tanks in dungeons pulling dozens of mobs, AOE and effects everywhere numbers flying off the screen, UI elements and addons cluttering the screen. I don't even see the game anymore, it just feels like a pachinko game that is meant to dazzle and mesmerize you into a zombie like state and keep you playing.
The same dude who said he doesn't enjoy any modern MMOs in another video says the people who are playing MMOs don't actually want to play MMOs. I think bro is confused.
You are a complete buffoon. No good gear is aquired through "matchmaking". You are pathetic.
just admit it, you like dog water Korean mmo games like BDO.
"tottbot didn't exist at that time 2007"
Narc factological content at its best . Dude just throws random shit at the wall.
Played on launch and few weeks after, got burn out on first few days but returned as season started. Overall kinda medicore exp launch with little to nothing to look forward to. Mythic+ keymaster/ gladiator chase seems to be only things that keep you playing, unless you dont care for it or aint sweaty or skilled enough for it might aswell just skip. Raid is mediocre at best, with simple mechanics and boring setting. Quests and lore got dumbed down to disney standards with gay characters, with few fun exeptions do seem to stand up in memory. In game cinematics are animated in dull way, and apart from community soup animation seems to be done in a hurry. I think shadowlands launch unironically was more fun and memorable, although it did have its own problems in few first months and afterwards.
Idk your experience for sure isn't mine. My guild was progressing normal rasageth last night. We look forward to raiding and gearing with each other. 3 weeks into this season I don't even have 4pc tier bonus let alone full raid gear.
I like the argument for all raids being relevant throughout the expansion, but it is very clear you are just a way better player with way better guildies able to get fully geared in hours of a patch launch and have no progression after week 1.
First of all , most of your points are made on emotions not facts or something that makes sense , just because vanilla leveling took 30-50days doesnt mean it makes sense to make current expansions leveling long , TBC leveling took 1-2 days , i swear to god i saw alot people max level on the first day of Wotlk , so this leveling is fast is not a good reason to make DF look bad , during tbc and wotlk gearing took longer not because it was hard its because we all sucked at the game so much that we thought vanilla and tbc were hard til we played it again , we just grew up , been playing for 15-16 years got so used to the gearing and progressing that it became not that big of a deal to us , this is completely normal , if you dont like it anymore just quit the game and play anything you enjoy , i have been playing for so long and i fet that i got bored before and i quit the game during BFA and now came back with DF and i am having blast the game is alot of fun for me and other people , so far i havent enjoyed an expansion this much since legion and i may think this is even more fun
When you make comments about doing repetitive grinding of easily killed mobs just for renown etc? The answer you get is that you don't want to "work" for rewards as if these take some sort of physical or mental labor. So your comment at 9:50 is what I want to post as a rebuttal to those who equate these mindless WQ's as "work", but never do as I would just be labeled "toxic". They are more a "chore" – mindless and repetitive. And somehow changing the word "reputation" to "renown" is also a major improvement according to my friends who still play – even though there are 20+ renown levels and were only 4 or 5 reputation levels. I think WoW isn't for me anymore since I have to turn off my brain cells to buy the Blizzard BS surrounding their "improvements".
I only started a couple of weeks ago and I'm already bored.
You are 100% correct. WoW is not good enough anymore and it can't be possible that the developers who created Arthas, Illidan and Guldan are the same ones who are making expansions like Dragonflight….
On the other hand though WoW is the only MMO that is worth playing right now in my opinion. I have played every good MMO there is out on the market and WoW is the only one that it truly deserves first spot. Not because of Dragonfligh, this expansion has boring protagonists and full of woke propaganda. But because of the world they have created over 20 years, the no pay to win design of the game, the game can run on any pc and it looks absolutely amazing, the old school gameplay mechanics.
It sounds like your description of TBC matches dragonflight exactly. The raids are still challenging, the dungeons are still challenges for small groups, professions let you craft gear that can be upgraded as you complete harder dungeons and raids. The only part of a traditional mmo that is missing is the vibrant world. If you want meaningful progression, it comes by playing with friends to progress through the raid or push yourselves through mythic plus dungeons where you are rewarded based on the difficulty of content you complete.
My ret paladin set was so cool and different until some one decided to change it, now its just boring.
Catching up on all your videos, I know I'm a bit late to the party.
This video was really well put together, and I agree with pretty much all the points you made.
The parts about meaningful progression hit particularly close to home.
I permanently stopped raiding during WOTLK, when it became apparent that the best way to progress, was to simply log out and wait 2 months for the next patch's catch-up mechanics.
Unfortunately the game is designed for people who don’t truly love MMOs anymore, and it’s the majority of players.
Do you know why is this game designed this way? Because a small group of elite pvp'ers and turbo end content chads forced Blizzards hand.
I remember having to really work for the one piece of gear.. now.. everyone has it at various ilvls. Takes the originality and rarity out of epic gear. It's now a game where you repeat the same stuff over and over for higher ilvl of the SAME GEAR. Some days it feels like work.
Dude… you hit the nail on the head with this video. You took the words right out of my mouth, and the thoughts right out of my head lol.
There is no more adventure or journey in retail WoW. I have a blast playing retail with my wife, because we love the art, the zones and stories, but when I try to play on my own or with a guild, its just sad. Its just a sad boring slog with everything handed to you. Everyone is just mindless zombies. Its not a fantasy world anymore. Its a lobby simulator.
I don't understand why Blizzard makes all of these amazing new looking zones, writes all of these cute quirky quests, interactions with NPCs, etc. just for you to one shot everything to max level in 1 day, sit in the latest town, and queue the same 10 dungeons for 2 years of an expansion.
I tried plaything through Dragonflight, and while the zones are beautiful, and the dragonriding was fun… its just hollow. Like, it feels like an empty Disney amusement park with pre-defined rides that don't do anything for me. Getting a gear upgrade feels pointless. Crafting and gathering (even with the changes) is pointless feeling too.
I could go on and on, but like I said, you said it perfectly already. WoW is borderline an AFK idle game unless you are in the top 1% of guilds trying the hardest content… but even then… all you're doing is running the same content, a little bit harder, while sitting in town 99% of the time.
Modern/Retail WoW isn't for us anymore.
Clearly they chase a very small very vocal audience of twitter freaks
