  1. I gotta say, as someone who works in a kitchen, it is much, much better than pumping hog manure and applying it on crop fields for 20 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 months a year. When I was younger, I worked in slurry application, and it sucked, even though I made three times as much for a quarter of the year. LOL there are always worse jobs than the one we have now.

  2. As a former waitress, breaks in the back room were for crying from stress and the dishwasher also had to help with meal prep and we all got to skip our regular breaks to eat because there was no time.

Working in the industry is fun!

  4. I am head chef of a 4.5 million a year restaurant in the middle of a city. Hardest thing about my job is the controlling and dealing with staff. Money is good i have 10-20k in my bank at all times so people can talk shit all they want. I didnt even go to school or anything, only got my first food safety course last year after working and running kitchens since i was 17 lol.

  5. Dishwasher is one of the worst min wage job. I had to clean up all the shit and by the time I was done, it was already 1:30AM and my hands had blisters from too much exposure to water.

  6. For few years I work in the kitchen in a mall, it was horrible.
I don't know what it is but when malls was the next big thing, people that goes to the mall is probably the most snobbish people I see.
10 people comes during rush hour and playing what you want with each other while other customer keeps calling the waiter, only ended ordering 10 glass of cold water and no food.

  7. Worked in a kitchen for 15 years. Started in dish, like many. Ended up being the head line cook at a couple different places. It's satisfying. You feel like you've earned your money. But it also made me miserable outside of work.

Asmon, you're very lucky, and you're very stupid. But we love you.

  8. I love it when people say working in a kitchen is an easy job. Sure fast food jobs are easy to learn but if you have ever worked at one you would see people come and go soo fast. I worked and managed a subway for 12 years when I was young. If I had to guess there were over 200 employees I saw come and go. If it was soo easy then why did they leave? You might say pay but 90% of them would go to another food related job paying about the same. It may be easy to learn for the fast food jobs but most people wouldn’t last more than their first paycheck. The very few that stayed either did jack shyt or moved up in positions. I saw people straight up walk out mid rush, start crying, put in their two weeks the first time it got busy, or shutdown on line. I moved up to district manager and literally had to go from store to store and cover positions because people were quitting left and right.
