Glad to take a look at Shadowlands through you! Haven't played WoW in years neither retail or private servers.
However I always liked Vannila and TBC because of the difficulty and progressivity. I know people avoided private servers, I haven't though. I tested a lot of them and decided the most Blizzlike ones with x1 rates were worth of my time.
A neat little lore tidbit is that Dorian Morgaine is the brother of Renault Morgaine who is a boss in SM cathedral in Wow classic.
