I shared a long moment to talk about the end of another one of World of Warcraft’s more polarizing expansions, Shadowlands, and the changes at Blizzard that happened during what felt like a years long saga.

  1. incomplete thoughts for an incomplete expansion. very fitting. shame is that shadowlands could have been absolutely awesome but from the poor writing to tedious mechanics… the bs excuses like them saying its impossible to change covenant easily and nonsense like that… the expansion was marred with so much garbage that bogged down what is ultimately still a fun core game. hope dragonflight is a fun time.

  2. Wow players will bitch no matter what , after 18 years I have gotten cold on what wow players will bitch about . Trust they will bitch just to bitch and then bitch because someone will bitch about the bitching . It’s an endless cycle . I’m just waiting on the DF bitching and I won’t be disappointed when they start bitching about it .

  3. I didn't hate SL but the story seemed to go off the rails with Sylvanus imo. I play a lot of alts so covenants weren't a big issue for me – plus I no longer do raids so I wasn't bothered by being in the 'wrong' one. Compared to Legion though it was less engaging/exciting/whatever word you want to use. I am looking forward to DF though – it seems much more fun. Way less robot-people too.

  4. I could feel myself getting progressively more angry as you were reminding me of the things we had to do at the beginning of Shadowlands. I took a break during shadowlands like most people and I really hope Blizzard learned how these decisions impacted players enjoyment of the game. I should never feel so frustrated with your game that quitting is the least stressful option.

  5. As a collector, it was actually too much stuff to collect. If i wanted everything, or even close to it, i needed to play ALOT. So i am no longer a collector. I just play for fun now, which is fine, but i dont play nearly as much as I used to because shadowlands had no idea wtf it was doing the entire expac.

  6. They really have left prot paladin in the dust for DF…for the second expansion of 7 i've played thinking about maining Veng DH for the first part. Wish they kep SL protadin style. It's been nice in SL for prot anyways

  7. With so many features not tied to player power progression in DF, my fear is that it’s going to get old even faster than SL. And to be honest, DF doesn’t introduce any new system into the game.

  8. You reminded me of the time limit in the Maw in 9.0, more on that, doing the saving the soul daily quest while the Covenant Campaign that took you to the Maw. It was pretty much impossible to do the save the souls daily and the campaign due to the time limit.

  9. ngl, im kinda happy i took a break since BFA. told myself i wont come back to WoW until there is something that really makes me excited like Legion did. I returned about a month and a half ago after i watched the Dragonflight cinematic and when the devs were talking about the expac, because to me it looks sooo good and im a huge fan of dragons. i glad i stopped playing before nyalotha because after what everyone have said, Shadowlands was a complete disaster

  10. as an almost pure PvPer, i was mostly unhappy with shadowlands and won't miss it. the only good memory i have was of the (i believe second to last) PvP season before the tier sets from sepulcher were released. i had fun playing for about two weeks until everyone had them and casual arenas were broken again. here's hoping DF is a little better than that.

  11. I did not mind SL in the least.. but the begining of the expansion annoyed me. Towards the end of BFA the community pissed and moaned about corruptions how as a tank you wanted X and X only… dps Y and Y ect. Complained there was no meaningful choice for their characters, nothing that felt right thematicly for their toons. Blizz listened. and gave us covenants ect, which then was a dumpster fire because the same group that complained we didnt have meaningful choice, pissed and moaned that we now did, but we shouldnt be locked into something because cry cry cry im not the best. Im waiting for the new set of moaning around DF.

  12. I got the Maw mount the first time that event spawned. Made it tolerable.

Generally, when I was in group content casting spells and stuff I enjoyed Shadowlands. There was too much metagame stuff to do though that wasn't interesting.

  13. The conduit crap made complete sense if you connected it with their "meaningful choice" bullshit with covenants: you weren't SUPPOSED to be changing out your conduits to do different content, you were supposed to set up your character to do one thing very well and stick with that "meaningful choice". If you wanted to do something else, you were supposed to make an alt.

  14. I would love to see later we empower the jailer again because he was right and what he saw worse then death ,he had good intentions but a bad intentions to mortal minds could not understand .but not take place in shadowlands.

  15. I remember when we first flew into Bastion and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I was progressively less enthusiastic with the expansion as time went on. What I think sucked was the linearness. I've said in other venues that it smacks of poor game design when you force users to follow a designated linear narrative and physically prevent them from diverting. I personally feel there should be plenty of quest lines that you can pick and choose from that add up to a bigger picture but let you go at your own pace. You don't need to know any of the story to complete the endgame content. It's not like the jailer pauses and says he'll give you his loot if you can tell him what Draka's motivation is.

  16. Man, do you remember when we couldn't mount in the Maw? And you had the assassins chasing you after you killed a few rares and did a couple of dailies? Such an awful design lol

  17. Great chat and interesting thoughts. I am just glad I will never have to go back there again. Patch cadence was a disaster, the story was bland and a car crash at times. All the chrarcters were forgettable. Any content creators that stuck with it should be rewarded somehow that's for sure.

  18. I had two issues with shadowlands, the maw it was just a bad zone, the second was I wanted to do more torghast but I was locked by gear from doing anything harder, Ive maybe done 3 dungeons for the entire expac and 0 raids, so gearing just isn't available, world quests had limits..
why no dungeons, well I can't find a decent guild and randoms are terrible, not running as fast as possible, or die on a boss, most of the group leaves.
