Just to put a couple of things in context – the wrath of the lich king trailer – the 'voice' was the father of Arthas, the guy who you saw waking up the undead dragon. The entire speech was irony as Arthas was a paladin who fell, and fell hard after he found a blade called 'frostmorne' and became undead, and murdering his father. After this he became the lich king.
The cataclysm trailer broke the 'world' in the game, and literally changed the landscape from what people had known for years.
The mists of pandaria trailer was about a place full of pandas – Chen Stormstout, the panda in the trailer, had been around since warcraft 3 (this was pre-world of warcraft and well back in the 90s), but the actual expansion dropped not long after kung fu panda, so there was a lot of criticism.
The warlords of draenor trailer was showing an alternate history – in the main timeline, the orcs drank demon blood and went on a rampage. Hellscream eventually freed the orcs from this, but died in the process. However the main antagonist of mists of pandaria managed to go back in time and create an alternate timeline where the orcs did not drink the blood.
Legion was a decent expansion, the trailer was showing King Varian Wrynn of the alliance going into battle alongside Sylvanas. Varian did not trust the horde in general, but had started to mellow out and began to trust some of them up to a point. That expansion led to his death. This led into the battle for Azeroth expansion where Varian's son, Anduin, took up the mantle of king and tried to stop Sylvanas's warmongering. The green Orc was thrall, the original leader of the Horde, who had stepped down after the events of cataclysm and who had then pretty much retired after warlords of Draenor after killing the antagonist of that expansion. Saurfang was an icon of The horde.. he had pretty much been in the game since the start. To explain what happened after his death – she had said 'the horde is nothing' after he managed to hit her…. this made her second look at her in shock, and Sylvanas realised that by saying that, she had pretty much lost control over the horde that had pledged loyalty. That is why she left…. Saurfang had actually won before she killed him. Killing him in the manner she did destroyed her control. This led to the shadowlands expansion – however the lich king in the trailer is not the same as the one from wrath – that one was killed, but as someone needed to take the lich king's place in order to prevent the undead raging out of control someone else took the mantle. This new lich king is not evil, more neutral than anything. This then led to the current expansion which is dragonflight. And there's an upcoming one called 'the war within' which has an amazing trailer
discord link broke
There is two more cinematic trailers. One for the current expansion and one for the upcoming one. Current: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZtedjN1JXY Next expansion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o03STclgxSc
From a long time WoW player Im actually not sure what to recomend you to start playing.. You have something we call Retail, wich is the current newest part of the game. Wich pretty much just throws you into 20 years of lore and history being shoved down your throat xD Have seen new players just get overwhelmed by the info that ment something when it was current part of the game but not now.
And then you have something called Classic, wich is the older expansions kinda rewamped. I would say thats abit more chill with how you learn things like actually playing and learning the game. I personally only play the classic version now and the "new" expansion Cataclysm is just about to come out now.
So not sure, best is to actually have someone to play with ofc to teach you a tiny bit 😂
And like someone else said here, your missing the last 2 cinematics. The current one called Dragonflight and the new one thats coming this summer called The War Within 😄
Also there is actually a live action movie 😝 Warcraft: The beginning. its really good, go check it out 🤪
If your a new WoW fan I highly recommend picking up the WoW Chronicles books.
I’ve been playing that game for 20 years almost since 2005.
Mak'gora is a fight to the death in the horde we're they must fight with honor, no magic is allowed, when Sylvannas used magic to kill Saurfang she basicly lost the repect and lidership of the horde.
green jesus!!
40:53 I think she might have broken the rules of their duel by using magic, since she didn't fight with honor.
41:48 There is a cinematic missing which happend before their 1st big battle, which shows that this necklace belonged to his son who was killed by the same Lich King you saw earlier (which is a in-game cutscene) and the blue troll with the big tusks and red hair (who says "What do we do now?") was also involved in that missing cinematic from the video you watched.
46:43 The past evil Lich King was defeated and he is his replacement and also more of a good guy I'd say. She was pretty good at one time (she was killed by the old Lich King and he destroyed her whole city which she was trying to protect (that happens in the Warcraft 3 game), cause he found her defiance annoying he resurrected her as his undead slave until she was able to break free from his control with other undead slaves he also resurrected, which eventually banded together and called themselves "The Forsaken") but by now she is pretty bad (cause she was manipulated by the Jailor into basically becoming what she hated and the sort of thing she was originally fighting against).
can also recommend the videos from Platinum WoW. Hes does lore stuff in a funny way and are very entertaining and make it easier to understand the somehow still weird and hard to understand lore. The "depressing" aura from the Lich King arthas.. well his story goes back to warcraft 3. One of the most beloved characters in the game by a landslide. Tragic story actually.
28:00 They were taking back Lordaeron from the horde. Arthas was prince of Lordaeron before he became corrupted. He returned home and killed his father, later the Forsaken, or Undead claimed it as theirs once they broke away from Arthas' control.
42:40 you missed where Sylvanas accidentally said "The Horde is NOTHING!" which made them turn on her and realize they were following the wrong warchief. She was just using them to try and end the world. When she defeats Bolvar, the helmet she takes off him is called the Crown of Domination. A warlock named Ner'zul was transformed into Shadowmourne and the Crown by Sargeras when Ner'zul failed him. Arthas took the sword and crown and became Ner'zul's puppet(He eventually shook him off and took control back) The helmet though was what kept the Shadowlands separated from the living world(It also gave you control over the undead). Breaking it caused both realms to collide and we had to defeat The Jailer.
It's really unforgivable that whoever made this compilation didn't include the Old Soldier cinematic. It sets up the entire Saurfang story and it is impossible for the series to be as impactful without it. What a klutz. 🙄
1:55 If you want to know the whole story you have to remember that WoW is actually not the beginning of the Warcraft universe – that's Warcraft 1: Orcs vs Humans. The first parts of what happened are the events of the three Real time strategy games (Warcraft 1,2 and 3 and the expansion packs Beyond the Dark Portal for WC2 and Frozen Throne for WC3).
World of Wacraft's story begins 5 years after the ending of Wacraft 3.
At the beginning WoW had 8 playable races (4 for the Horde and 4 for the Alliance) and 9 classes, 7 of which where available for both factions and 1 exclusive to each faction (Shamans for the Horde and Paladins for the Alliance). By now we're at 13 playable classes (all are available to both factions now) and 24 playable races (and more incoming in future expansions). In addition classes have specializations (3 for all classes except druids who have 4 and demonhunters who only have 2). Specs can be switched whenever you feel like it and are not in combat (in retail – in Classic its a little more complicated).
Should increase the volume of the videos, we could barely hear anything.
The concept that blizzard stole the lich king from adventure time is sending me 😂😂
newborn fan to a dead game
17:01 'You really think he was gonna trade everything?' Thing is, in the original timeline he (Grom) did take the power (which corrupted the orcs). However the orc that said 'times change' (Garrosh) has time traveled back to stop the corruption and claim that horde for his own to attack our present/now. Grom is Garroshs father, but not really in this cinematic as Blizzard went on to say "It's not really time travel, it's an alternate universe blah blah blah".
There was a “Warcraft” movie which is based on Warcraft 1 the RTS game

the alliance is basically the root cause of all wars in this universe, even though theyre supposedly the good guys
This is not all cinematics. old soldier is still missing, takes place right before the battle for azeroth cinematic, however it was fun to watch this, thanks mate!
Sylvanas went: "man f u all and your positivity and hope, y'all cramping my style" and skedaddled
