There’s a lot to say about the recent reactions to the new Keystone Master requirements in patch 9.1. I’m here to clear the air on what the new achievement means with the new mythic plus score and so far it’s looking pretty great! So why are players mad?
Also this week, a few important updates in patch 9.1 to really help flesh things out, the Burning Crusade Classic launch is just around the corner and we talk about what’s going on with Mike Morhaime and Dreamhaven. What might his plans be in the next few years?

  1. I’ve found it’s easier to pug and time keys on tyrannical weeks because the more “casual” players stay away on those weeks. Im sad this may change that.

  2. KSM requires ALL eight shadowland dungeons be timed on a +15 Mythic. Now most players would agree that the level of difficulty between the eight dungeons varies considerably, but accept that they must all be completed in order to get the achievement. Now Blizzard has essentially required these same dungeons to be completed on both tyrannical and fortified in order to get KSM in 9.1. Clearly tyrannical and fortified difficulties are considerably different as well. Why can't players just accept this new additional requirement? In the end, KSM will now be an even more prestigious achievement. KSM is mostly about prestige anyways right?

  4. I am apparently one of the 3 people in the game that like tyrannical because god forbid you m+ isnt an aoefest that you just burst down from your safe spot at range, Tyrannical is more fun because it is more engaging, you have 2-3 minutes(if you dont have lust pride and delete it) of mechanics you have to perform well, using your defensives appropriately and also doing decent damage, something i feel is far more fun and far more demanding than let me group up the mobs to aoe them down.

  5. I like the "All 15s Completed" nature of current KSM. I don't now and won't in the future want to push keys to 16-17-18. The achievement as it is currently is a perfect amount of challenge for me. I play an Alliance Ret Paladin and I busted my ass getting KSM in S1. I spent hours applying for 14 and 15 keys. There's no chance I get into 16-17-18 keys. There's no level that people aren't trying to push the meta, and ret isn't part of it. And I ran plenty of 10-14 with meta players pushing out 2k dps. I'm glad I already got the achievement, because this change definitely makes me hesitant to work for it again.

  6. So yeah it doesn't matter how you fill the bucket, but the size of the bucket does matter. This is changing the bucket you are filling from 1 gallon to 2 gallons.

8 scores added together should be the score required not 16 scores. That is the issue I think most people have, me I don't really care all that much. Either I get KSM or I don't, and I am not going to play something I don't enjoy. So if I end up playing FF14 more like I have been, after 9.1 instead of trying for a bloated KSM to get a barely recolored mount so be it no sweat off my sack.

  7. i do not have ksm because i do not need it, but i still put it into google to see what it comes out so
    "Kommando Spezialkräfte der Marine"
a few companies and the best
"Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is a Pakistani Islamist militant held by the United States at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp under terrorism-related charges."

  8. I always wonder just how close content creators are with Blizzard staff, this take doesn't seem all that convincing as being in good faith, but hey, maybe it is, in which case its just wrong, and its a long apologetic, doesnt even go into the other downsides of cementing in Raider.io into the live game, even for those that didnt like it existing in the first place. This is crap.

  9. I play M+ as my main content, I think this is more nuanced then people seem to take away from the article. You know that you get score even if you don’t time a key and just complete it, you can now get KSM without all timed keys (Not Specifically at 15). In s1 that was a requirement, people left group if they didn’t think the key was timeable. In s1 when I wanted to help friends with KSM I would have to bust my key down to 15 to ensure victory, now we can run it at a higher level as even untimed, points are awarded towards KSM. This may help groups finish out the key for score. Score based is a much healthier approach for the game.

As to the KSM requirements, it is unlikely a player timed all 15 on the first try for s1. In s2 it’s just complete for score and move on, and circle back on the weak ones. I would say this takes less time investment as every run counts for something but is still time gated by the weekly affix. The article mentions completed “barely in time”. I think it’s fair to say some runs will go well adding more points then the bare minimum.

  10. Someone added it up said if you had a 10 tyrannical and you wanted to make up for it with doing a higher fortified, you would have to complete a 24 fortified of the same dungeon which is just fucking ridiculous.
