what is with all the focus on action and combat in mmorpg's? there are a ton of action games, so making another action game is not doing anything different. can't wait for AI to get better so I can have it design for me a game to my own liking, something different and unique and engaging.

Gonna be honest, I think this was a waste of money, resources and time.
They tried so hard to keep their very late entry into the BR genre, and even then they just ended up copying what's currently trending, adding nothing much newer to the genre to really set itself apart in such a big way.
I was actually expecting some pirate quests, pirate invasions around Azeroth, to draw us back to the old zones (Booty bay especially), but instead we get a BR PVP only single/duo mode and cosmetics are tied to that mode on top of it.
For me a PVE player, that leaves me with not really much of anything to be excited for or to go on, and PVP only players still have no new content for their BG's and Arena modes. Blizz legit pushed everything in half a year into a BR mode, so hard that they are selling merch for just that game mode, which is more than enough to tell you that they are treating this like how they did with Overwatch and HotS leagues, where it's cash in and hope for a big payout.
Hardly anyone asked for WoW to have a BR. We're too busy wanting more lore, more engaging gameplay and balance changes, and new PVP content, not a Fortnite clone to print money, when they already make money from their store, services, game copies and game subs and physical merch on top of all that.
OH man, I didn't even notice the times for the patch today, its basically a expansion launch level of patch time, I guess I'll try playing tomorrow. Honestly my only reaction from seeing the info and the video is that there doesn't seem to be enough rewards. Maybe there's more we haven't seen yet but having like a couple cosmetic sets and a mount just feels lacking, like even Island expeditions and Warfronts had lots of items for players yo earn, easily like 5-6 mounts, lots of new transmog items, etc. and this doesn't really look like it has that. so while this is definitely a temporary event, it feels like its maybe going to have like a pre-patch event level of content, maybe a set or two plus a pet.
this isnt a wow patch. if they would have let us know things along the way, they wouldnt have their player base up in arms over something so lack luster. this was NOT worth it. leave it off the ptr, sure, but fuck, this is just awful. im gonna play for the rewards though >.>
This sort of thing didn’t need to be kept secret…..secrecy should be reserved for allied races , surprising storyline reveals , xmog events, etc . Not this …….we were kept in the dark for months just to get this ?!?? Ridiculous. I’m not even one to complain either , usually under the Warcraft Instagram page I’m posting positive comments but today was my first negative comment since shadowlands
The next patch with s4 should have all of the things listed on the roadmap and is in a month or so. We still don’t know what pandamonium is. This was essentially a bonus patch.
My problem with this is they created something nobody was asking for and chose not give us new dungeons and raid for season 4 . If I had my new dungeons for this upcoming season I wouldn’t have a bad opinion about this new mode .
Imagine if they'd held this patch back almost 3 weeks (say, April 2nd?)
I hate it already and probably will log into it for 2 minutes just to say I was there. But props to Blizz for throwing out something completely different and unexpected.

They should have just said what it was going to to be – leaving people to imagine and over invest into thinking what it ‘ could ‘ be only leads to disappointment.

Been playing since 2007, haven't liked any form of PvP since Alterac Valley, I've tried, I just hate it. So, from that perspective from a longtime player, I'll try it, but the massive indicator of it being ultimately PvP, makes me personally pretty disappointed this was the big secret everyone's been waiting for, as imo it should be something everyone gets to enjoy, and I feel like if I don't start the second it comes out, everyone else who loves PvP will be miles ahead of any progress I even attempt. BUT, I will try it & try to keep an open mind. I collect everything, I've done some PvP just for the collection items but that is far different than earning renown for rewards by being forced to PvP in order to get said items. I don't care that PvP players get exclusive items as much as I wish it was fairly panned out to PvE players to have a PvE Only way to get them as well. Kind of like the battle pet Francois, it's only obtainable if you have 1 million gold in your inventory, same lockout concept.

I played the crap out of Fortnite until it became Battle Royale. Then I didn't care for it anymore and quit playing. I quit WoW PVP a while after that. Just not me anymore. I'll give it a go to be fair, but somewhat saddened that this is what we are getting after all the wait.
Feels like a big investment for a temporary thing. Wonder how long until we are paying season passes

Well lucky they released it today so I could cancel my subscription before it renews tommorow I guess. Pretty lame that they didn't mention pvp earlier, as it's pretty lame to market this as "secret content anyone can play" and then reveal it's only playable if you're interested at all in pvp.
Yeah, hard pass. I didn't like Fortnite, don't like watching the streams. I won't have anything from this thing, and will be glad to keep my account clean. I hated the islands. I hate Fortnite. I hate Valorant. Not interested in even watching this. I'm not even bothering to reactivate WOW for this. This is why my account is closed, all this secrecy for this? No thanks. Hope you enjoy it, but I refuse to even load my game while it's active.

People who avoid all forms of PvP are just cowards. They can't handle the idea of losing to another player because its a reminder of how bad they are in the game and it hurts their fragile egos.
Its not that they "don't like" killing other players, because historically PvE players have been killing less geared players outside in the world when they have the chance and are not alone. The fact that these players can't get carried by external sources other than skill hurts them and make them "not liking it". Even tho is not even out yet.

Make a FAKE Fortnite Battle Royal in WOW version and call it a PIRATE theme! That is timed!!! You actually have to play this garbage to get the pirate stuff you want. Yet another patch is a failure on Blizzards expense.
Fortnite is a real Battle Royal game!! WOW is garbage compared to Fortnite.. Why the hell even put in all this work for all this garbage for some PVP players to have their fun in a Pirate themed TIMED event!!
