Its really nice to hear you talk about the comparisons of WoW and FF14. Ive wanted to get into FF14 quite a few times but i find the new character experience extremely boring, but I can completely understand that aomeone could probably say the same about WoW, I just dont personally feel that cause ive been playing since I was like 5 :). Watching your videos ia making me think i might give ff14 another shot. Sorry if my grammar is bad. German is my first language and im still not great with English

Don't be too hard on yourself. There were three strategy games (two of which had epxnsions) in span on 10 years, and then you have a MMO that is already 19 years old. Unless you go back in time and become fan as a toddler, (sorry not sure how old are you) there will be always lot you've missed
and trust me even if you decided to start MMO today and decided to do EVERY expansion and every zone in order you basicly could not. Unlike Final Fantasy, there is no unified progresion trough story anymore. there had been several changes in level caps, and zones, and whole mechanics including full world rebuild in third Expansion.
Basicly if you start the game today, the game will gude you to New starting zone (like three or now four expansions old) then Battle for Azeroth main line and then straight to Current Dragonflight expansion.
You can sort of play old expansions with game mechanic introduced in I believe end of Legion expansion, but doing it ALL would lead to like eight hundred hours of old and basicly irrelevant content. And that is NOT way to get into game. You would get bored and give up because of completely outdated game, mechanics, because of you would need to play multiple alts (there is not system of jobs like in FF14).
EDIT: There are people who are incredibly passionate about lore, I used to be one of them, but seriously, to consume game the way they want, you would get a Major diploma in WoW lore, so don't even try. My reccomandetaion is if you would want to try just try to enjoy it and don't bother yourself with it too much. I say that as someone who play this game in and off from start and who tried to get into FF14 THREE times and never managed.
You should watch the video: The (almost) complete history of world of warcraft in 23 minutes. This guy covers literally the whhole lore from start to shadowlands, it is not everything but the main lore is there.

1/2 : You just discovered how shitty the WoW community is, and before anyone says anything, yes, theres also good people amongst this community, but know that those people are a Minority of the community, actually the community is mainly toxic , sexist ,racist ect , it's just like league but for MMO's, so don't mind too much what people are saying , and keep doing your things and be chill.
2/2 : Even by playing the game, you'll not understand all the story, exept by doing several different characteres, for two reason, the leveling is waaaaay too fast, so you'll probably end up not even finishing the expansion leveling question and you'll end up on dragonflight without no understanding of what happened, and now wow tells your to CHOOSE an expansion, so let's say you choose to start in mist of pandaria, the game will make you skip Vanilla, burning crusade, lich king and Cataclysm, blizzard use to care about the lore and leveling experience, but not anymore, now they just focus on the end game content, so don't feel bad for missing thing, the majority of people do

Honestly might be worth checking some Nobbel videos in your spare time you have any interest in the lore. Platinum WoW is also an S-tier wow lore content creator.
2:17:04 I'd recommend a lot this 2 videos from Flying Buttress, he tells you the story through his own words so hes doesnt have any copyrigh Problems, and i think its a very good start to learn the lore in a fun way 😀

Only way Gromash Hellscream could hurt the demon lord Mannoroth is cause he actualy drank his blood turned himself in to FEL ORC, thus gained FEL STRENGTH – lesser creature would do no harm such a superrior beign.
And story of Medivh is best explained in the actual WoW Movie. The Movie quality not much, but LORE wise very good.
You mistaken Anduin (blonde crying little bitc*) for Arthas (the Lich King did nothing wrong), they are different bloodline of Kings of the Mankind in Azeroth.
Also there always must be a Lich King (until Sylvanas tear the crown much later when Bolvar was the LK), even when Arthas knew he did wrong on the other side of the coin was that if he refuse to sit if it fits and take the CROWN, the scourge (generic undead swarm) would spread rampart across the whole Azeroth consuming all the living.
So he gave his will to controll the SCOIUURGE and prevent it to run rogue. Then HEROES (both NPCs nad PLAYER characters goes to "continent" of Northend to PUNISH him………..
If you do play, I would suggest Druid, 4 specs(tank, healer, melee dps, and ranged magic dps). If you don’t care about meta and just want to enjoy exploring that’s the way to go.
4 hours and the dude queueing up this vids for KingdomAce managed to avoid giving him the actual in-game cutscenes from WoD and onwards. That takes some fucking effort. Like how do you manage that?!

In lore sometimes actual NPC characters kill bosses.
In lore sometimes it's the player characters, but when it's the player character, it's a whole group of them and that's specified in the lore.
your character is not the chosen one. they just live in the world.
Just like you have good and evil humans in all aspects of games and life, you have different factions of different races. Just because one faction of one race becomes evil doesn't mean that all of that race are now evil. It also doesn't mean that it's a story specific to that race.
Zul'jin for example, he was part of the Horde in Warcraft 3.
In world of warcraft where the story continued, things happened and he left the Horde. Due to them teaming up with the Blood Elves he turned agaisnt them fully and became a threat, hence the raid.
You are looking way too deep into things.
Yes, there is backstory, but not to the extent you're imagining.
