This is how I decided what to main for Shadowlands, how many classes, which role, which spec, following some very simple rules.

  1. I am a simple man. My druid has been my first ever character that I created back in 2008 and will always be my main. When I started raiding in WotLK I healed at first, but soon I found the joy of tanking and have never looked back since. I've been enjoying my bear since WotLK no matter how boring or weak others find it and have always managed find a position in normal raiding whenever I wanted to (filthy casual RP'er here).

Everything else after my druid is an alt for me and I alternate depending on my mood, although I play my pally (cuz she can tank) or DH (cuz she can tank AND I love the melee animations) more than others. I have one of each class across two servers (spread between alliance and horde) except for warrior.

  2. I´m going to main my Warrior (most because of PVP) and a Mage as my alt for pve content. My thoughts are, that i´m just a casual solo player, with no real friends in wow (LFG best friend). In the evening, after work, i just want to log in and have fun. I dont want to stress about my gameplay, i just want to log in and do want i want spontaneously, for example having an exact time/day where i need to log in for a raid like a fucking doctors appointment (especially on weekends when i want to go out with my friends and girlfriend, except now in corona time) or to carry responsibility as tank and getting flamed from a whole group when losing aggro. So thats why i like more arena and m+ over raiding its so much more spontaneous ( considering that m+ over +16 doesnt interest me that much, because there are no more rewards for that, just a rating from a third party website) I always was a type of action fast paced player type, doing big damage and to compete with others, who is the better player, who is number one on details dps meter. So i mained a warrior in bfa, loved fury, popping the big numbers, fast paced gameplay and execute everybody with arms in bg´s and arena. And in pve in the end i just mained arms because of the haste corruption, and how much more dps it made instead of fury. But the whole time i missed something "magical" you know. I´m playing a fantasy game, and the warrior with no special effects got me bored, so i lvled up my mage which i mained in mop and it was a lot of fun, porting and blinking everywhere and playing frost in m+ also. So my plans are concentrating with warrior climbing the ladder in arena, and playing pve at the beginning is a must of course. And with my mage just doing pve, for the variety. But i am concerned more and more about the proc based gameplay of frost, still having fun with in shadowlands. The other classes i thought about trying or leveled up a bit, i think that these classes need way more time and practice, and are not really good as alt for a casual player. They need to be mained, so i jus stick with these two… I could wrote a lote more about my way of thoughts, but i dont think you read til the end, but big thanks for you to making these videos!

  3. I also figured 3 characters was the right amount. I've decided on Ret Paladin, Sub Rogue, and Frost DK but I'm not sure which I'll main. I hate healing and I've never liked ranged much so while these choices aren't super diverse I find them all really fun.

  4. I'm thinking two to three characters as well. I'd like a ranged dps, melee dps, and a healer. If I take a hybrid I might only need two characters. I'm thinking either DK/Shaman or Rogue/Priest, or Rogue/Shaman

  6. Gonna main Dk, can't decide about second character, choosing between rogue and shadow priest and maybe the mage, but still gonna play only 2 chars. I really like ret but don't want to have 2 tanking characters. Don't know why but I didn't like warlock, mb should give it another try

  7. I will go with druid, guadian and Balance for m+, Restro for Arena and pvp. Because i fear that twinking will be a pain like in bfa. Also druid is in leveling and farming really smooth. BR, heal, instant mount, stealth.

  8. Havoc 3-4 buttons? Demon's bite, chaos strike, blade dance, eye beam, glaive throw (before eye beam for the conduit), immolation aura, glaive tempest (likely the aoe go to). 7 buttons. Is that really that much more simple than the majority of dps specs? Up to 9 if momentum becomes the meta.

  9. Shaman,Monk and debating on playing a third but not sure what. I want a melee dps for m+ that has low downtime and will actually be viable im not sure quite what to go with if anybody has some recommendations they would be welcomed(High mobility is a plus)

  10. Loved the video.
    All good points as well.
One thing I would say though regarding guardian druid. The basics are indeed very mind-numbingly simple and boring, but in my opinion it can me the most thought intensive tank once you start getting deeper into techniques like cat weaving with guardian.
Historically for me I always loved playing druids, but I think the class will be dead for me in shadowlands, balance is a boring rotation and mechanic and I never much enjoyed healing.

    13:37 -Paladin is smote

  12. I really love your point of view. And I'm happy to have a similar process on choosing main.

I did I process like yours and ended up maining a DK for raid, Monk for m+ and hunter as a 3rd pick.
My only problem is choosing between frost and unholy…

  13. I’m only going to play one character, so I’ve been putting a lot of thought into it. My heart says to play Windwalker monk, but my head says to play Unholy/Frost DK. At this stage, I’m leaning towards DK.
