With shadowlands right around the corner, a big topic to remember is the leveling process. I am still 100% the person who will say to level in whatever spec you enjoy most, since leveling is a pretty casual experience, but some people like to weigh their options between the three. So, this video will go over a lot of the pros and cons to each specialization of rogue. ^^

It's always fun to look through each of the 3 specs and see what extra little benefits/perks they have to make them stand apart from each other. ^^
As I mentioned several times in the video- The best spec is the one you like the most, so don't think you HAVE to level as X or Y just because it has some good benefits to it. I personally enjoy all 3 specs, though obviously Outlaw is still my favorite, I can see the appeal to both assassination and subtlety in some cases.

Y'know, as soon as I started playing Sub unlocking essences and a leggo cloak again… I actually don't mind maining rogues in Shadowlands rather than the 4 Dks I've planned. Sub is just TOO MUCH FUN for me.

How dare you suggest that "HAVING FUN' could be the most important thing in a video game. Don't you realize that the only proper way to play The Game is to pull out the spreadsheets, do the math and ensure that everyone is only playing the top dps class/spec that there is.

I'm a fan of outlaw for leveling and then i try to play all 3 specs at endgame with relative skill because the "best" spec can change at any moment.
GOTTEEEM haha. Everytime man. I have a problem lol. I'm thinking of trying to get a better understanding of sub. I want to think just outlaw will get me through but nothing bad with learning
I'm still very pleased also surprise that for once all rogue specs are very solid at the start of an new expac , i guess assassin will eventually get better with more gears . Sub is definitely my go to .🍺
Going to level as Sub, but I plan on playing outlaw for dungeons. Great video
I appreciate the effort, but Sub is the best way by far. If you Have SnD up from the previous mob, Shadowstrike gives you 4 CP -> Eviscerate -> Mark for Death (which is mandatory during leveling on all 3 specs) + Evis again. 90% of the time mob dies here. 2-3 GCDs is all you need. Also, Nightstalker is preferable in the open-world due to the speed buff. Oh, and don't rupture unless the Mob is Elite or Rare.
Outlaw can't do that unless everything crits. Assa will have just finished applying his bleeds by the time Sub is looting the mob.
The only reason to use Assa or Outlaw in my mind is if you are grinding mobs for xp with a group of friends, as Sub's AoE is quite weak till 58.
Shadow Dance charges are not a problem if you are running Mark for death. You are guaranteed to have one available.
Mostly agree but can't underestimate the superiority of grappling hook for pure and simple world traversal during questing, especially in zones with a lot of verticality.
DoT reliance has never been good for levelling, regardless of class.

Sub vs Outlaw is pretty tough
Sub if using optimal strategies should be miles faster
But outlaw can chesse his way, grappling hooking to certain terrain (like up cliffs) to skip huge masses of land and blade flurrying tons of mobs with a boomkin friend
Will have fun changing between them while i level ~
Heyyy!! Thanks for the video, great info for anyone dusting off their shelved rogues 👍😉! As for me gonna level with both sub for heavily contested areas with pvp ( i play in war mode lol) and for them hard to reach targets on ledges where i cant shadowstep, good old outlaw grappling hook 😍. Gonna hang up the poisons for early parts of this expansion, since like you mention without azerite/corruption its kinda of slow. Only thing id like to add with Sub is, dont sit there and trade blows with mobs, i usually dump all energy/Cps and if they are slowable, keep my distance till energy full pop Shadow dance rinse repeat. If not slowable try a stun, or sprint, even blind, be surprised how many mobs are bindable 🥰. Just my two cents and for our new fellow rogues ive seen play like warriors 😆. Another thing is Subterfuge lets you mount/hearth/open chest/ even sometimes loot quests items, without breaking stealth.
For mythic + wich spec/covenant is better? is still subtetly top tier in all stuff?

outlaw will be faster ( tested ) takes roughly 6 hours with 5% speed gem/15% speed talent. hook and well other spells and ability 😛
that is with warmode off.
Sin was little slower. but heal and leech was really helpful. at roughly 7 hours.
but saying all this is pretty pointless since it was beta and no one in the zone haha 😛 gonna probably be bit slower on live with 10,000 players killing everything on launch day.
at first i wanted to stay sub as in bfa but i tried assassination and it s so cool! u are just chilling, poisonning enemy to death, feels way more rogue than sub to my opinion ! might go with it until level max and for mm
as a rogue, do you think it s more enjoyable to lvl up with story quest or to get an alt lvl max before then lvling through WQ?
