If it makes you feel better i did the exact same thing on my pally lol. Because i leveled as ret i only leveled my ret skills not realizing you needed to swap specs in order to level the other spec…Since i main holy i was healing heroics with my level 70 spells lol and couldn't for the life of me figure out why they were so hard.

exactly same thing happened tom e when i changed from MM to surv. Using explosive shot (50% of all damage) rank 1 instead of rank 4 and all other spells atleast 2 ranks below aswell to yesterday. still did OK in raids but now im top 2 all the time 😀
happened to me my first 25man Naxx. Someone had an addon that pst'd me when I used a lower rank skill. You really do just hit 80 and tunnel vision on heroics.

I did something similar. I paid all the gold to learn the spells…. I just didn't replace the old ranks with the higher ranks.
I used macros for a few abilities and for those spells it auto updated the macro to the highest rank of the ability. For the buttons that I didn't use macros on I was using quite a few ranks lower than the max. I noticed while halfway throuh Burning Crusade levelling though, not while raiding 😀

I went through 2 entire raid weeks doing every 10 and 25 man before I realized i was using the wrong rank of arcane blast and missiles.

I slightly did this. Just grinding lvls trying to hit 80 as soon as I could, and then started running heros once I did, completely forgot that I should go back and train once I hit 80, so spent a bit of time without my max abilities. Thankfully I trained them before any raids 😆

I didn’t forget to learn spells, but I forgot to update my spell ranks during week 1 lol. Somehow my dps was still high on our guilds meters lol

Lol this happened to me too. Shit you not did a month of Nax before someone finally whispered me in a wintergrasp that I was using downranked spells.
If you go back in time and tell people before Classic launched that this would eventually become the meta and the major problem. I doubt Blizzard itself would have released it. Classic was a mistake. Ghostcrawler was right, "You think you do, but you don't"
