Should you Gear Through PvP? Shadowlands PvP Gearing Options

Read more about Shadowlands ➜ https://worldofwarcraft.mgn.tv

Shadowlands PvP Gearing system has changed substantially enough to be considered even by casual PvE players – at least to a certain extent! In this video I’ll share my opinion on this system and compare your PvP gear acquisition options with more typical PvE ways of obtaining gear through Shadowlands dungeons, raids, world quests and LFR.

If you are into World of Warcraft PvP – the choice would be a no-brainer for you. Casual PvE players however need to be aware of diminishing returns that grinding PvP Honor points for too long or in a dedicated way would create, needing to balance their efforts to keep this alternative gear progression system worth their while.

  1. Good stuff. I’m definitely not a PVPer. I agree the recent PvP upgrades to 184 lvl are pretty steep and having 171+ ilvl is adequate for LFR. I don’t think I will grind honor to get to ilvl 184 until I need to based on gated content. It did great to fill in gaps to get to ilvl 171 in time for the first wing of LFR opening up next week.

I still enjoy some casual BGs once in awhile so it’s nice to know now that you can slowly get honor and conquest and fill one or two items slots if required over time as opposed to the previous system which was pointless for gearing.

Also like you mentioned, dungeon gearing slows down a bit once u fill in most of your slots which is where PvP can be a great alternative.

Tip of the day : make sure to kill the world boss. I got an ilvl 207 ring for very little effort. Us casuals will take any easy boost we can get.

Also I tested out Torghast as a blood DK. It is significantly easier as a tank. So far I’ve cleared level 5 with ease without deaths. Will try level 6 but don’t anticipate any issues. I imagine that as a solo casual, once the twisting corridors opens up, that will be my focus for solo fun/progression.

  2. I enjoy BGs so upgrading gear via PvP has been great again. Plus it's nice to see more people queueing up (even though the complaining seems to go up to!). I've only upgraded to the 171 as the cost is a tad high for the next jump. Always good to check Strategist in Orobis – as the anima is a good addition. Also this weekend is the Battleground Bonus event which if you queue for the random, it gives extra honor. Epic ones are fun and as Gyro pointed out, easier if you aren't a pvper.

  3. I love gearing up from pvp only and I have now i think 7 chars on 60 and i will only equip them with pvp and wq. In this kind of things i prefere the grind over the rng loot from wow dungeons.
My luck is so bad in this kind of things that in runing old raids i got from one boss only rings 5 or 6 of them. I have it on video and could upload it if you do not belive me.
I liked every single video of yours even if i do not leave a comment to your videos.
very Long text belove, no need to read it because nothing with this video! Just about me and about final fantasy so yeah no need to expand this comment

it is 04:30 and i just woke up so my head is still a mess.

That now reminds me of wotlk when i was still raiding as druid MT and passed on every single raid item in Icecrown Citadel and was wearing only pvp gear. I was even solo tanking sindragosa and it was no problem for my healers. When every person in raid did not need an item than i only took pve raid gear. I did not want any stress with gear so i continued and wear pvp for long time till draenor.
And as a heiler and dps i was allmost allways 1th place so nobody had anything to complain.

FF relative things i wish were in wow now or in next expansion in some kind:

    1. The dungeon set gear in ff looks great not like wow dungeon sets that allways looks blah… Somehow only raid gear and pvp gear looks great in wow 🙁

    2. When you complete a dungeon you get 1 loot 100% from that set that you do not had yet. Meaning that if you have the world worst luck you still would only need to run that specific dungeon once per gear slot :p

    3. In ff i can run dungeons with story npcs and do not have to wait for a queue to pop up

    4. in ff the story npc dds deal less dmg but they execute mechanic perfect so a dungeon run with npc takes a few minutes longer than with real people if they deal with mechanic proper too and you get some pets not and a bit less loot. This is why tanks and healers would rather run with real people. That system is perfekt for people who do not want to wait or deal with toxic player or just want to run a slow casual dungeon run before going to sleep or to work. It is perfect for noob heals and noob tanks to try geting used in that specific rolle in dungeon setting before doing it with real people. Oh and for people who have anxiety too

    5. All old raids and dungeons are doable not just like in wow when timewalking comes. You can random que for raids just like in wow for the random dungeons.

    6. You can unlock new dances, emotes, fingernails, hairs styles and so on. In wow for now every race only has one dance, i sure would be trying and farm for new cool emotes, dances and even hairstyles for my characters in wow if there were any to unlock…

    7. Real Player Housing System!
Where you could build your own dream house. No extra schnick schnack like garrisons done. And garrision is not even at least like player housing, you could not even move a single table or anything. Everything was fixed and limited so if you gone to other players garrisions everything feelt still same just on different location.
People could have their own style from a natural druidish style to heavy metal with lots of skelettons.
Items for your house should be unlocked throught old and new raids, dungeons, world content, pvp and even made from WoW Professions
The best part would be that if you do not like player housing you could 100% ignore it and have zero konsikvences. It should be just like transmog system where you gain nothing of power

    8. Sliders! Like high size, belly size and bxxb size. It does not have to be big differece.

    9. Skirts and Kilts! why are there no Skirts and Kilts in WoW? I know there are items named Skilts ingame but that only in name, they are just Dresses not real Skilts

So my post my look like FF is superiour to wow but thats not
WoW transmog system is 1000 times better thatn ff " in ff you still need to hold on items you want to transmog while in wow you can throw it simply away"
    WoW open world looks better
WoW you can have 50 chars per account
WoW ist fast responsive when you press abilities
WoW spell abilities look better (is my personal opinion)
WoW spell caster classes are more fun (again personal)
WoW classes play faster at start because the global cooldown is less than 1,5 sec and in ff it is less than 2,5 sec and at start you do not have off global cd abilities like you get later
WoW classes are easier to play than ff classes

FF character and npcs emotions look better ingame in cutsceenes where they acctualy are moving mouths, making gestures, you even see if they are sad in their eyes and such things
FF bards can play music, seen some great performes!
    FF game is more emotional
FF you are the main protagonist and so in the middle of everything and in wow the lore characters are in the middle and you are their supporter.
FF you can fly on day one in an specific expansion zone if you done the zone story, points of interest and zone dungeons (you have to unlock flying for each zone seperate!)
FF you can be each class on one character, you just equip a weapon of another class and now you are that specific class
FF in open world you do not need to wait for a specific mob to appear if another person just killed it because if you go into a specific spot the mob will instantly spawn for you.
FF mobs do not have eyes in the back like wow does so you can sneak behind them
FF love samurai, ninja and dancer class would 100% love this in wow too

both games have their pros and cons but i love playing both and i will continue to swap every few months one for the other and for this i will not get burned out of any of those 2.

i just wish both games would learn from another and have the best of each

  4. Also you can level from 50 to 60 doing BGs earning honor the whole level grind, then you can bypass normal dungeons and go straight to heroics because you will be able to generally buy a complete set getting to to 155 as soon as you ding 60. Level how you want but just when BGs in background getting you xp and honor. Fastest way to gear your character. I wouldn’t spend more honor points upgrading until you grind out heroics and then upgrade your pvp gear to fill in spots so you can get into mythics

  5. I just hit 60 finally. Im only a pvper I don’t pve ever in this game. My question is does any of the endgame content matter like the campaign quests and all that if I only plan to play bgs and arenas in this game? Or should I just start grinding honor and conquest and get that gear

  6. So sad now that SL is out we have realised that PvP is the only way to get consistent 226/233 items… as a player who absolutely despises the pvp in WoW I am forced to do it to get any upgrades now… after completing multiple 15/16+ mythic plus I'm gaining nothing but 210 ilvl pieces with one 226 item a week (which is always trash) compared to some large group of random mongos playing pvp and getting 220/226 pieces easily.
