So you’ve quit Shadowlands and WoW Classic TBC, but you still need that World of Warcraft fix? Private Servers might be the thing for you. Let’s look at your options…

Call me crazy but the only real private servers i'd be interested in would be cataclysm or pandaria, in that order. Sadly though, back when I did private server stuff, neither trinity nor mangos had any real progress on those, meaning most scripting, be it using the SAI or just some c++ scripts, would have to be done by the team.. which is a lot more involed because of the extensive usage of phasing than for lich king or lower. If anything big changed in the last couple of years i'd be happy to try playing on one of those servers. (And I don't mean some that just have autocomplete flags on quests they don't want to put time in to get them right – i mean really well done servers. If I had as much time now as in the past I would maybe even try committing to the respective cores again, but times changed..). Heck, even a bunch of motivated people that want to get such a project rolling would maybe make for a nice side project, but it is really ungrateful work.
I actually just canceled my subscription a couple days before the "apocalypse wow" video but i still have the itch to play my favorite mmo. guess now is the time to get into private servers.
I played alot of Warmane TBC and WOTLK, so I could get to the endgame quicker. Lately though, because I RP alot more, I've been playing on the Epsilon server. It's a ton of fun to see what people can build since it's an all GM server made specifically for roleplay. No combat, no class restrictions, can't kill other people. I think it's a really nice niche server.
