  1. In FFXIV, the story is about your journey and your actions, etc. You are the main character. In WoW, now matter what any of the NPCs say, calling you "Champion" or w/e, you are ONLY an observer to the story: the story is about everyone else, the NPC champions we know from the RTS games since there haven't really been any new, lasting characters added in WoW (not that I remember, anyway). You're not really a character in the story, so I don't feel there's any real impact to how the story's been told.

  2. Love your content as always but compared to the video you're reacting to; your volume was way too low. I was constantly adjusting the volume cause I couldn't hear you but once you started again the volume was too high.

  3. 14 tied up the story so it continued from AAR, but that was all it did. I felt nothing for Meteon, felt kinda confused by Fandaniel, and Zodiark being a core character got literally used as a puppet and shoved to the side and forgot about. The Endsinger and Dynamis had 0 build up besides in Endwalker and it ended trying to hold the story together. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't awesome either.

  4. I would argue that Zodiark cannot temper people because it wasn't till post Sundering that the Ascians modified there creation magics which they taught the various tribes to include the ability to temper so as to casue the imbalances to allow the rejoinings. The Lopporits even confirm that at best you would feel a tiny pull from Zodiark at best, not a full on tempering and that was because of just how powerful Zodiark was.

  5. Honestly, As I sit and ruminate on the story of Endwalker I find myself disliking it more and more. I feel that the 6.0 WHOLE story arc should have been about Zodiark and the final trial to run up to him. Then, after we defeat Zodiark the laws of reality start to unravel and Hydalean reveals the truth of Metion. At this point the whole of 6.1-6.5 could be developed into making Metion into a Proper Boss at the end of 7.0. The whole story for 6.0 just felt super rushed the way they did it. We have 4 expansions building Zodiark up, and he just… dies? There was no pay off to it.

  6. As long as, when 7.0 releases we wont find out that the reason for Endsingers existence is actually some magic elfs that pissed off some random godlike thing and it screamed "fuck off" so loud it vibrated through out the multiverse into Meteion's eardrums.

  7. Final Fantasy XIV was able to pull this off because of one key thing that I call Visionity. Great writers can throw a stone into a pond and anticipate what consequences the ripples will have. They have an idea fleshed out, they have ideas what the ripples will cause, but they're good enough to bend and change with the flow. Now, Visionity isn't just about ripples. It's also about the stone they threw. How heavy was it? What stood at the site of impact? What was the stone made of? That stone is the epicentre of everything. FFXIV writers have Visionity in spades. 95% of the time? Their stories work, yet that 5% of the time is 'meh'. It's not horrifically bad, but it's not amazing either. It's middle of the road filler.

World of Warcraft doesn't grow and change with the flow. They've stuck to the same old schtick time and again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just force those ripples where you want them to go. Rewrite the past when you screw things up. Nobody really cares about the story anyway. They just want to raid and do dungeons and collect stuff. So long as fans keep buying? We're doing a good job.

  8. The problem with going down the "big bad evil" the way blizzard has is you then always need to up the stakes, meaning now you need another big bad evil, then another one, and each one retroactively weakens the story of the one before it. It's why the jailer is so hated, or one reason, is because his very existence disturbed the story of characters like Arthas and sylvanas, beloved characters. But now we find out he was nothing and there's a REAL big bad?

In comparison, while FFXIV did have a "big bad", it was one with a definitive end. We're done with the zodiark and hydaelyn storylines, done with the aftereffects of their stories as well with the endsinger. We may see bits of Ascian lore in the future I'm sure, but it'll be different than the Primal focused lore we've had up until now.

Also, FFXIV didn't delve into the creation mythos. That's always mega dangerous for a story, because it's a never ending rabbit hole. Who created reality? Who created them? And who created them?

  9. Oh shit that video hit hard, I wasn't ready and got tears. I absolutely loved endwalker except one thing: fuck zenos, fuck the last fight, I didn't want to do it, he isn't a rival to me

  10. To be fair Hermes empethy is also his downfall, if you're overcome with empethy you become useless unable to make the hard decisions and in your effort to help everyone you help no one. While the other amirotians were to callous to their creations Hermes was far to empathetic. Infact azim seemingly was the most balanced of the amirotians who tried their hardest to help everyone they can but wasn't crippled by the empethy and sorrow for those they can't.

  11. One of my favorite series of all times is Cardcaptor Sakura precisely because it isn't an urban fantasy story about stopping the end of the world, but because it's an urban fantasy story about stopping the end of this little girl protagonist's world.
Stories that delve into people's internal world are so much more rich than those that only deal with the capital W World.

  12. People love to compare ff14 to wow, but thats not what they should be comparing. Its the devs. And with that, theres no contest. Honestly, Id love to go back to WoW. It was always fun to play and looks more fun than ever with Dragonflight. But I keep seeing all these reddit posts and stuff about problems on the back end and honestly I dont want to put up with it. Also with the story, Blizzard is a ship of Theseus. The people that made vanilla wow arent the same people making their games now, including the execs and directors. It feels like several people are writing a book series and nothing makes sense.

  13. Endsinger absolutely was "that other even worse bad thing."

She fits the trope exactly. Zodiark was summoned to prevent Endsinger from destroying the world. It's stroke for stroke "You thought I was bad, but I'm here to stop the greater evil!"

I still greatly enjoyed the story, but Endsinger is that trope, lol. Zodiark's whole existence revolves around stopping Endsinger's destruction.

  14. Hey, Jesse stepping up where other creators have never done before. A comparison about WoW vs FF14 explaining how FF14 is soooo much better than WoW in every way possible ever. Surely that trope has never been explored on youtube because of course FF14 fanbase cant appreciate the jerkoff enough. Now… a video I want to see is how Genshin Impact is sooo much better than FF14 in every single way because that community and FF14 have something even more in common. They like circle jerking about their game way too much and a jerk off fight of those 2 would be the stuff of legends. I mean, that video exist because my guy Jesse's gotta eat somehow so why not go to the next level? my man need those stonks. XD
