WoW after WotLK is a missed opportunity…
Shadow “missed opportunity” lands
Shadow"missed the whole expansion"lands
Fukin currency exchange rate…
Blizzard needs help honestly
"So we're doing the borrowed power talent tree thing again"
"We did that already, it's getting stale"
"Yes but this one has an NPCs face next to it"
"Great, make it happen"
“Time constraints” and “budget” keeps coming up but really a lot of this seems like both time and budget keep getting pissed away in WoW with systems like conduits, renknown, trying to balance locked covenant abilities, etc. I don’t think a lot of this should be waved/excused due to time or money anymore when we saw obvious things that take up a ton of time made to not matter. Like why are conduits even in the game at this point? The combat stuff in soulbinds are even more “cookie cutter” than talent trees at this point.
Soulbind could be a play one soulmate a type of marriage
If Blizzard built WoD's bodyguard system as something that could be expanded upon, with further iterations expansion after expansion, by now we could have an army of companions (even among the main characters of the lore, who could come and go depending on the storyline) to join us on various "solo" missions, from dungeons to legacy raids, from lore-filled quests to Thorgast. Like a FFXIV's Trust/Squadron system on steroids. Heck, you could even stick to your non-DPS spec and tackle any type of content with your party of NPCs. I know, I know: even fewer reasons to play with others, I hear you say. Well, guess what: at least doing chores or farming mounts could even turn amusing with my little squad of helpers…
Also – Get RID of CONDUIT ENERGY.
I don't know a single SL feature that isn't a missed opportunity
I have been playing since MoP and I am not going to lie, I enjoyed leveling through Shadowlands, but had no clue what the purpose of or how to use any of those endgame systems. This is ultimately why I unsubbed. These systems require so much research from 3rd party sources to grasp that they are not in any way fun and are literal treadmills at this point. The renown system? the conduit system? why do I HAVE to do these boring things to progress power wise or cosmetic wise? They really are just leeching of all the ingenuity that Legion brought and then abruptly tore away when BfA launched.
Since was blizz obsessed with borrowed power? And why is?
My wish for the next expansion, thematically:
The Jailer is way too strong (Titan++) we never stood a chance of beating him. But we did miraculously manage to delay him. We send him into some sort of limbo for what in the limbo feels like a couple hours maybe, actually gives us a couple years back on azeroth to prepare.
We must clean out the remaining foes on azeroth and rally all of its people in a bug way to prepare for the jailers innevutable arrival with our full might. Allied races come back in a big way and much of the endgame questing is in old zones recruiting. Also old classes get some shiny new stuff. For some its a rework, others its a 4th spec and for a few its a new better developed class profession (like totem crafting for shamans)
