  1. I saw a comment about the gear disparity being higher in SL than in tBC and I figured out why: Blizzard wanted gear distinctions to be meaningful and players not to have BiS from previous tiers without forcing people to get set bonuses. In addition, with 3 raiding tiers, gear had to have a power increase from tier to tier so a better itemised piece from a lower raid difficulty shouldn't be substantially better than a worse itemised piece from a higher (in tBC there wasn't even a split between raid sizes other than Kara). The only realistic way to accomplish this is by vast power differences between gear in patches and at the beginning of SL they removed PvP gear compensation (which really had a marginal effect which mostly benefited lower MMR players starting mid expansion and alts).
