The Problem With World of Warcraft

Accessibility. Every problem in this game ultimately boils down to that word. The buy in price plus the demanding and complex systems at play in this game are too much to ask of any new player in the modern era. WoW originally stood out by being extremely casual friendly compared to it’s competition during a time when MMOs were much more popular. As the state of the genre and gaming at large continues to evolve, Blizzard also needs to make changes.

There are obvious problems like the complete lack of mmr to go around on the arena ladder, but what I wanna talk about is something more foundational.

  1. Biggest problems with pvp there’s no team death match bg’s. There’s no map vetos w/ rewards. Que times are way too long to play specific bg’s or high rated solo shuffles. There are too many buttons to buff your self (ex: shaman) buffs shouldn’t have globals. Pvp players are required to PVE to gear up faster. (Vault) classes tend to be seasonal instead of always balanced. $15 a month is too expensive to play a game that doesn’t listen to its player base.

  2. brother… a game where you can be perma cc'ed to death is a bs pvp game by design.
There is no spell in league where you can poly the enemy for 20 seconds on repeat, or cyclone, or root them in place for the whole match.
Also in good pvp games there AREN'T FUCK*NG HEALERS. There are SUPPORTS.
Wow pvp is bad because it has too much cc, and too much healing, fix these two and pvp can be fun again.

  3. League of Legends or DOTA is basically a very simplified version of WoW PVP…. bit too simple imo plus I hate the click to move gameplay. WoW PVP does take some time to master, cause u gotta learn ur class/spec inside and out, plus the basics of other classes like their cd's so u can counter their abilities better. I think any new players who stick with it and enjoy the game will prob do research or look at guides to learn more about how to play better…. I did way back when thottbot and mmo-champion were big. But yea, its not the kinda game u can easily get into, or even as a spectator be able to follow or understand the action, which makes its popularity in professional gaming tournaments less then other easy to foolow games like LoL or an FPS.

  4. Honestly the max lvl thing aint bad reminds me a bit of private servers. not sure if the battle pass would suffice for all the costs of the entire game but i agree that also might be a good way to lee way players into the wow pvp scene.

  5. Guild Wars 1, an ancient game from the mid 2000s allowed you to create max level pvp characters that where resirtriced to a special PvP Island. Idk why that would be so hard for blizz to implement. But I wonder if we should think further… make it so anyone can make a max level character with appropriate gear to jump right into more challenging group dungeon and raid content.

Then, completely rebuild the leveling experience to make it a worthwhile and fun experience akin to the "difficulty" of leveling in Classic. No need to make it a washed up, disjointed mode thats too fast for one group, and too slow for another making everyone unhappy. This leveling experience can serve as the tutorial for those who need it, and have exclusive transmogs that would invite PvPers and Endgame PvErs to play.. but not feel forced to do.

  6. as someone whos childhood was basically spent on watching old pvp vids and queueing bgs in mop-legion i wish i could hop in and learn arenas but i still to this day have not played over like 10 rated arenas due to the inaccessability and constant gatekeeping

  7. They already said plunderstorm is coming back in january like a month ago

One of my most hated reasons to play alts especially in pvp is the leveling time and being forced to farm honor for hours before i can do any form of impact is really unfun and causes me to just quit the pvp idea

  8. Ah yes, another Vulpera hater, as if the Horde isn't possible of having a short crafty race (Goblins) or a non-threatening race that is actually vicious. (Blood Elves), the disneyfication is bs, I grant you, as is the WoW Token, but you wanna be machos being angry that a race that you don't have to play doesn't fit your pre-conceived notion of 'manliness'? Stop the cringe.
