With World of Warcraft Shadowlands just a week out we take one final look at Shadowlands covenants and the question must be, with the WoW Developers ever balance the WoW Shadowlands covenants or will it simply be merged?

  1. I'd like it if we could have multiple covenants on one toon. For example, you mentioned mages and how different specs or raid difficulties require a different covenant. It could be something as simple as plugging in what you're doing so as a fire mage you're in Necrolord covenant but tonight you're going to do some mythic raiding and you need to change to Night Fae. Cool, just like we change our specs now, we could have an option to change covenant. I wouldn't even mind doing the grind for another covenant on the same toon completing the quests so that I'd have those options.
And I know you don't care about this but FFS BLIZZARD!!! I want the ability to mog armor for all covenants I've opened for all my toons…cuz I like crazy shit like wings, gonna be honest here. 😛 And, I think the mounts should be available for all toons regardless of what covenant they're in. Idc about their rpg/story stuff, I just wanna be able to use this stuff whenever and on whomever – it's my money, BLIZZ!!!

  2. Love the vid but there is a lot wrong with the facts in this vid.

E.g. for mages if you put your mage in NF then you can play all specs and be within 3% of any other choice you can make. All three spec for mage are pretty balanced see toeginder sims.

People always moan about you must link curve or you need a meta spec for pugs.
I run with a guild but i also pug across all my alts raiding and high m+ keys, and i have never been asked for achieves or spec choice or why i am queuing with a non meta class. So either my realms are unique or others exaggerate on the forums to make a point or make them seem more knowledgable than they are.

They have nerfed the power effect on the coveneants and soul binds that within a few % it doesnt really matter. Maybe with the exception of pvp perhaps.

The reality right at the moment is not what is reflected in the forum comments.

  3. This will really fry your brain, this is the best covenant until the next patch/update. Next patch/patch things are buffed and nerfed so now the covenant you picked is no longer the best. Moral of the story, join a guild this expac as pugging will be unbelievably impossible. This system is too complicated to make work. I think we all would have been happier with covenants just being cosmetic, mounts, pets, etc. and covenant choice actually making an impact on your game play, rpg stuff. Awesome vid as ALWAYS!!! 👍

  4. I still say that an easy fixed blizz couldve done is allow players to choose their covenant, scrap the conduit system, and make a separate talent bar that has all the covenant abilities that you can swap from like talents. That way you can play what you want and still be optimal for whatever you choose

  5. I still think the covenants should have either no added power, or minimal, non damage / skill changes. Something purely cosmetic, perhaps.

They've never been able to balance 3rd party power systems. If there's even an iota of difference, it shifts the entire meta. Think of it as a dinner plate being balanced on a sewing needle. They'll spend the entire expansion trying to get it to sit perfectly still, until they simply replace it in the next expansion. Meanwhile causing nothing but headaches and confusion in the process.

Bit if you get rid of the sewing needle and just fill the dinner plate with things that change appearance (or other various things that have no impact on combat [5% walk speed, mount speed, wings, texture, auras, etc]), you remove the problem entirely, and you can contribute those resources and time improving and creating other various facets of the game.

  6. If nothing else, the Covenant power and the "OMG 1000% GUARANTEED GUIDE THIS IS THE BEST GIB ME CLICK" guides (yes, I am starting to really loooooooooooooooooove wowhead) lead to the one thing, which by the way goes exactly against what Ion said at Blizzcon. Ion said they want people to not be "retribution paladin" but "kyrian paladin". Well, this will double down on the main spec choice even more than Legiondaries ever did. You have one covenant really optimised for one spec (or even a build, lol) and you can't really change anything. So, have fun playing 2 years as fire mage. Or you can have 12 characters, 3 for each spec in each covenant. Just in case.

  7. I'm a casual solo player so what guilds and mythic groups or pugs and raids do has nothing to do with me. My only peev is there are no guides/ suggestions about what covenant and powers work best for soloing on the classes i play. I don't care what every one wants to argue about powers and specs and covenants. That non sense back in wraith is what lead me to give up on guilds and raids and dungeon runs in the first place.

  8. Unholy DK lore wise is also necrolords…not venythr, but Venythr aint too bad with a DK as well. Frost DK as Kyrian or Nightfae also lorewise is "wth"… cold n death allying with light n nature?
Locks same…they dont belong to light, nature? they belong to necro/vampiric-venythr type of covenant.

And Mages…they should be adeptive to any kind of magic/covenant, since they are mages, that should/could learn all type of magic elements and natural or unnatural energies.

And to be honest same with the locks should be adeptive to any dark/necro/demonic type of covenant-environment.

  9. Does no one play in guilds anymore? I raid with my guild every xpac. No one is likely to care what covenent I'm in, to be honest. I play with friends and I don't see a bench in my future.
I do understand the concerns for those who might need to pug, but I havent had to pug a raid since Wrath. So I guess I just do not understand whether or not this is really a concern for the majority of that player base. Are guilds just not a thing anymore? I mean I still belong to one and I have to assume other players might be in a guild as well? .. or maybe they have friends?

  10. The community is the entity responsible for ruining the social aspect of the game
I had that issue with pugs ever since lfp was introduced.
Why are you this spec or whatever ?
Maybe coz its a fantasy game and I like to play a mon-cookiecutter spec

  11. I have leaked informations. SYLVANAS will be LAST BOSS in Shadowlands, he steals the powers Of Jailer. Arthas will speak to Jaina. And when we defeat Sylvanas, all souls from Maw shall be free.

Arthas will be good in the expansion, but we can not return him to life..

  12. Good news for mages we just follow the Drjay theory that night fae hasn’t been simmed properly for raid and just go night fae….even easier to choose now since Blizz destroyed Frost.

  13. Am I correct to assume that you are trying new things with your scenario? If yes, maybe you could tune up the Gain on you camera settings on obs/slobs. Great video, great content. Appreciate all your theories. PEACE!

  14. Covenants being related to player power is the issue, IMO.

But even then, it's not the main issue. It's a symptom of the real issue, and that issue is Blizz being addicted to layering systems and constantly wanting something new. If they would just decide on a power system(real talent trees, IMO) and leave it the hell alone for a few expansions, they could add all sorts of cool stuff. Imagine if your Covenant was all about flavor and fun abilities. Nothing throughput, all defensives, mobilities and toy type abilities.

  15. Covenants should either become irrelevant (by nerfing the abilities) or easy to swap.

In my opinion they should just make them easy to swap because if they just nerf the abilities a lot then all the effort and time they spent on them will be wasted.

  16. You should get the same abilities in any and all covenants and covenants to be a esthetics choice. Just allow people to choose any abilities they want irrelevant of covenant.

  17. With my ret paladin, I would chose Kyrian. Because aestatics! For my balance druid, I would chose Nightfae – for the same reason. And with both choices, according to that list, I would have made a mistake – one that would follow me for a couple patches till Blizz would nerf everything. But until then, I would log in every time, enjoying my covanant choice save for that nagging thought throughout gaming, that it was the wrong choice, that I make life difficult for myself, that I let down my raid team, that I'm not being my best. Casual I may be, but I have no doubt that I would get to feel the negative impact of that choice. – In beginning every expansion, also BfA, is fresh and new and free and you enjoy every step along the way. But then you reach max level and for me, somehow, the whole excitement got lost after a while…

  18. Tbh, you cant exclude personality from this. People can exclude you from their raids, cause people give raids that power. If more people would have more balls to simply dont raid with them then, they would change their behaviour. I never cared about what others wanted me to skill, if someone else wanted me to change, they could fuck themselfes. If you choose to be a Lemming in a Game, just other player want you to change, thats your problem
