The Truth About Shadowlands PvP – Broken or Balanced?

Read more about Shadowlands ➜ https://worldofwarcraft.mgn.tv

World of Warcraft Shadowlands PvP has been under great discussion recently due to the current pacing and balance. Classes like Subtlety Rogues and Marksman Hunters have been plaguing the Arena and Battleground experience for many players since the launch. Because of this, many players are calling for nerfs before the Rated PvP Season Begins. However, I believe many classes like Ret Paladins, Arms Warriors, Shadow Priests, and Feral Druids could also be targeted.

This video is an attempt inform the PvP Community on what needs to happen in order create an enjoyable PvP experience for all players. Previous expansions like Mists of Pandaria used a different method of balancing that aimed to correct issues with the underperforming classes, where modern expansions seem to focus on simply nerfing the overperforming classes. I believe the ladder method is what has caused many of the issues that players experience today.

  1. What I am calling for is small frequent changes. No more massive nerfs every 3 months where we wait for the 3 months just for a class to be dead in the water. I am not saying we don't need changes this week, but I am warning the community that this type of balancing has lead us to where we are today. Hopefully that is understandable.

The community is clearly divided on this topic. And I just want us to be wise about the changes we are asking for.

  2. Dying in 1-3 seconds instantly in arena is not fair or fun… there still needs to be a need to chain cc's and have "counter-play" to the game…… they should do minor tunes as gear releases. This isn't "fun". I agree arena shouldn't be 10 minute mana drain games, but this shit is insane. Multi-glad player, very angry currently.

  3. Nah, you’re wrong. Sub rogue does need tuning down, it’s just silly. I did a BG with 6 rogues and we absolutely stomped. It was Disgusting. Like elemental shamans in classic with spell batching. If you have enough of them they just one shot everyone.

  4. I 100% agree, PvP is super fun, I've wanted to get into rated in BFA, but pvp just felt so stale. This iteration really brings back good memories of Wotlk/MOP and it made me spam arenas for the past 2 weeks, even found some peeps to queue rated tomorrow. I'm excited to see how this goes

  5. Im agree with u. By far shadowlands pvp is pretty fun. But nothing is perfect. Get deleted by a rogue in 2 sec without burts and with all ur def on is insane i didnt understand that. MM feels op too but is just first season. Something i cant understand is why BFA trinket are still op. Anyways im still thinking that pvp needs Temple or Pvp power back vers is not enough. Im pretty excited with this exp. Hope they take this slowly and dont nerf every class. We dont a warrior nerf or a feral nerf, maybe they need just buff the others class that are down and nerf the insane. Great video as always, cheers!

  6. This clip with the rogue killed by the hunter where you say hunter used all cd's and rogue nothing, watch it in slow mode and you would see the hunter already with double tap litterally appearing at 0,3-0,2 seconds before the aimshot's cast finish, even with the travel time, this rogue humanly can't react fast enough to counter it, maybe the last aim shot could have been but not the first one which drop him to 10% health.
Just nerf double tap making the second shot at 30 or 50% of the initial damage and it could be okay or at least disable camouflage directly when you cast aimshot.

  7. I agree with the message here, definitely just some instances where i dont feel like i can keep up healing the damage. Going to be rough start unless they do some tweaking to rogue, hunter, ret

  8. burst a bit out of hand is a understatement……you die before u can press a defensive is broken…..and you cant repeat bfa because there is no corruption…..

  9. Well to bad they shit on hunter and ret already, minor nerf to rogue, honestly I would be less upset if they ever nerfed everything across the board or buffed everything to be equal playing field, but every xpac at least as a ret player it seems we start out good and get nerfed into the ground until we are basically unplayable compared to other specs, like right now rogues, DH, feral and a few other classes still have insane burst and are completely insane yet ret and hunter are the only ones the get any changes, why?

The main thing for me is balance, I want dmg to stay high sure but if they only have a few classes that can do this insane amount of burst they need to either nerf them or buff the others so they can do the same. rets ringing clarity needed a nerf sure but to nerf the covenant ability as a whole and reckoning too, blizzard just continue to shit on ret even after positive feedback from the ret community, feelsbadman.

Like I even put a positive post on the forums about the current state of the game, and they say the only respond to positive feedback but in the end the mountain of people crying about classes needing nerfs seems to always prevail, like ret and hunter weren't even the most broken or OP class, but people always complain about these 2 classes the most so blizzard always nerf them. rogue for example is a super popular class and hardly got any changes because blizzard work of metrics, more rogues so keep them happy, not many rets and hunters so not as many people will be upset if they get nerfed, and if anything all the other classes will be happy about them being nerfed. theres probably everyone right now saying yes finally fuck ret and hunter etc

    /rant lol

  10. Stoopzz, you truly keep amazing me with your content. Love the idea of buffing underpowered classes rather than chain nerfing overperforming ones. I was browsing forums the last few days and I instantly felt bad for the future of SL pvp, because even if only 10% of the feedback there gets put into the game, pvp is going to be a snooze fest. Keep doing what you're doing, love your vids.

  11. basically your saying everyone should be brought up to the level that sub rogues are at, which is the same thing as everyone not having to work for their kills, poping a stun and deleting someone in 5 seconds, thats the most idiotic thing ive heard, pvp should be about counterplay, and if every class gets brought UP its gonna be a graveyard spawning simulator, not a battleground, and every arena is gonna end in seconds, re evaluate the term fun to play mr. i know everything about pvp

  12. > "Ask yourself this, have you ever gone into an expansion with a main in mind just to have Blizzard nerf it and make it unplayable for the rest of the expansion."

Yes. Beast Mastery Hunters in Wrath.

Blizzard nerfed that spec to the ground. In fact the whole design philosophy behind that expansion is why I think Ghostcrawler is an incompetent game designer.

  13. This video is apparently from a person with no game designing knowledge. If doing your way, dev would need 100k salary because of the difficulty, the workload and the pressure of their job.

  14. Wasnt the point of the month long delay to balance covenants and classes more before launch. Yet we still see 2/4 or even 3/4 covenants being stone cold unplayable for classes while others have abilities that are clearly favored or even better than most others. I think most of the problems stem from blizzard not actually balancing classes for pvp and pve which is what we see now and I hope its not a repeat of BFA destro warlock where we just saw small incremental changes that had no effect

  15. "PVP isnt indicative of what it will be in a couple of months…."

Well hell,… might as well just suffer through this shit show for a couple of months then… nbd.

Also, in order to be competitive in PVP you cant just pvp… nope… not with how blizzard locks pvp gear behind time-gates.. get your PVE shoes on boys… time to do lots of PVE before you can PVP…

  16. Mistakes arent punished? More like, you are a training dummy for certain classes. They press 3 buttons and win.. 1300 players killing 2k players because of the class they play. Rogues winning in the opener regardless if you trinket or not (they just restun and kill you) unless you play a class with an immunity (block or bubble). Hunters opening on your from camo, you wall and they still 3 shot you? It doesn't matter if you have fast reflexes… if you pre-wall… pre-karma, etc… you still die. And people say… Give it a couple months.. blizzard will fix it.. .or it will fix itself with gear… Im fucking paying for the game now… why do I have to wait months for shit to get fixed. Do you go to a restaurant and pay for shit food.. and be like…. they have a new cook.. give them a couple months to get the order right, I doubt it. Tuning down damage can easily be fixed by tuning it, gradually, back up in a couple months when gear has improved. Stop being black and white and assume a nerf now means a nerf forever.

  17. I really agree @Stoopzz_TV but does this not high light the core issue? You have 2 versions of the game, the PVE and PVP and the PVP are the tail that gets wagged by the dog. How on earth can we ever balance this out like this?

  18. for the most part i agree. but when a sub rogue does 49k dmg to two people in under 7 seconds to 2v1 people in arenas; that is not something people should have to live with for a couple months.

  19. Blizzard is incapable of bringing any kind of balance even if they tried, especially with their design philosphies and systems in place, so hoping for a ''balanced'' PvP is nothing but wishful thinking, it has always been a colossal mess, season throughout season of 1 shots and 2 shots, except for Legion PvP templates which drastically limited them. The game's programming is old and flawed, constant power creep with each tier will mess with PvP, it won't matter if you have 20k or 40k health, the damage scales far more than health pools, it always has in the past. In Legion uninstanced PvP, for every 1 million health , your damage would increase twice as much, if not more, thus making health pools irrelevant, you died even faster due to the scaling regardless of gear(on the receiving end) I see nothing different this time. But hey, perhaps Blizzard will pull a miracle this time, which is unlikely, they would need a whole new game engine for that.
P.S. Im all for doing good damage, but popping CDs and taking chunks of like 30-50% out of people? That's not PvP, that's a fundamentally broken game.

  20. Even with the pvp trinkets bonus it’s not out doing a mythic 15 bike or dres trinket. I can 100% people on my rogue with any covenant it doesn’t even have to be kyrian because of the trinkets. Pvp is a separate mode yeah people enjoy doing pvp and pve but the gear should be separate pvp power was the right move. You can’t balance two game modes to make them go together in sync one will always un balance the other. I play warrior and rogue as well and I enjoy playing warrior even though I’ve played rogue every expansion since vanilla.. I enjoy both sides of the field mythic + raiding and pvp I’ve been playing since 15 years old now 30 and it’s never fun if pve players get nerfed because of pvp I’d gear was balanced for each and you had your own grind because. They are different game modes.

  21. I totally agree with you, that fast pace is funnier, and that players should be punished if you dont use cds right. However for example yesterday entered arena, got one shotted by a rogue literally in 1.2seconds he hit me 22k/second(i got 24khp) with all instants, and no matter how you want to react to CDs some classes just dont let you right now because they have broken abilities, and this needs not a small but a major fix.
