Im a bit of a WoW noobie. I watch these a lot and it seems like mage shield blocks a ton of damage. Like I've been watching frost dk 2H arenas and see them pop cooldowns and chunk but in this he hit like a wet noodle. Why is that?

It’s always a little disappointing watching mages running away and stalling for such long periods of time to get CDs to pop. Very cowardly and boring gameplay to watch.
