  1. Forbes doesnt know. New world probably paid for this article. If you look up New World it has the lowest number of active users. They have some new content coming out to try and save their game. They bought this article to seem cool. New world sucks

  2. Wow is number 1 because it's still solid enough to warrant a sub fee still after 20 years instead of free to play garbage that nickle and dimes you with microtransactions for more bag space or to change your characters look.

  3. I'd say its number one, it might be easy to think "really its number one?" but can you honestly without a doubt rate any of the other games on that list higher than wow if you had to give them a number?

  4. Considering that WoW is how many years old, still relevant, still with a semi dedicated playerbase, none of those other MMOs outside of maybe runescape has been online, out and relevant for as long as WoW has been, you can hate WoW all you want, but based on its sheer longevity of this game in a very competitive niche market…. yeah it belongs at number 1, if these other mmos are around 15-20 years from now, then we can talk about them dethroning WoW

  5. "I dunno why they separated WoW Retail and WoW" classic."

The words of someone who has never played them before.
If you played WoW Retail for a month then switched to WoW classic for a month you'd wholeheartedly agree they're essentially different games.

  6. New World isn't even that fun. It's a game of "oh piece of candy", and you farm a shit ton of materials to play.

Final Fantasy is on par with WoW, easily. WoW has an edge because they keep dumping expansions on top of expansions, clogging up feeds.

FF arguably is the better of the two, but I am NOT kidding you when I say I've played it and the INTRO to this game STARTS 80 hours in.

  7. tell me you're paid by blizzard to make the ranking without telling me.
wow is listed twice, and higher than FF14, and retail is first.
never played FF14, but even i know it's higher than that XD

  8. Weirdest list yeah. FF should've been way higher and Rs3, while gotten greater in later years hasnt toppled osrs. WoW defintely like osrs and rs3 shouldve been seperated. WoW is still king of Mmos.

  9. I think the list makes some sense if you're looking at it from the perspective of where the games are right now. Retail WoW has gone from Shadowlands to 18 months of pretty solid gameplay changes and content updates. There is generally something to do and some new event taking place, with a content patch frequency that hasn't happened since vanilla WoW.

From what I've heard from FF14 players, they're going through a relative content drought right now until Dawntrail. It makes sense they'd be listed lower right now, especially lower than WoW Classic which has 2 major content updates happening and ESO which seems to be doing well too at the moment.

  10. Id honestly put osrs into top 10 worse rn. The game doesnt know what it wants to be, the devs, community and reddit all want different things. I think itll be dead in 5 years

  11. wow retail is nr1. no mather how much people hate it wow has always ben and still is the nr1 MMORPG. even during those bad times in BFA and SL where people claimed FF had more people playing. no other MMO has had a higher stable playing population. some MMO's have had more players for a short while after new content releases but that disappears after the hype calms down.

  12. Eve Online is an odd pick for the list. Outside of the hardcore demo, it seems to really struggle to attract and hook players. Then again, it is fairly well known, especially in relative comparison to its population, so maybe the article's author just heard of the game and decided to include it to round out 10?

Also WoW retail makes enough sense to be on this list, and I would put it ahead of Classic for the time being, but number 1 is just wild
